Hi all,

My wife and I have just purchased a uk imported 2001 Volvo v70t, it's a 2.0Lt B52204T5.

It's done 131000ks and is in pretty awesome condition for its age.

I am wondering if anyone has any information for me on immediate mods or checks to complete to ensure the cars longevity. ( we just sold a patrol which needed catch cans and all sorts of other things to ensure it lasted).

We are based in Toowoomba and have access to Volvo themselves and a Volvo specialist mechanic.

I am thinking of a k & n air filter and possibly an egr block, but is this worthwhile or am I wasting my time?

When was the Timing Belt last replaced ?

That vehicle is barely off warranty . . . . mileage-wise. I would say it's just broken in.

Does your mechanic have access to the equivalent of a CarFAX using the VIN to retrieve a record of what services (most of them anyway) were performed on the vehicle ?

That might give you great insight into what it has/ has not experienced.

Read your Owners Manual . . . . or if you didn't get it, order one and read it.

Good Luck.

Thanks Vermont, my old mechanic is a 4x4 specialist and doesn't have the gear to check the Volvo computer. I have found another mechanic who is a Volvo "specialist". I will ring him on Monday and read my newly acquired manual tonight.

Just don't want another car with low ks to fail on me again!! Bloody nissans!

I read just about everything but I cannot see or learn anything about a B52204T5. It almost as if the motor doesn't exist.......
