I just got 2001 v40. I noticed that air vents control doesnt work right - cant get any air to blow on windshield. I can switch it to blow through the front and side vents. Fan is working fine.
I guess it's vacuum line issues, can anybody point to schematic to figure it out?

could just be a linkage/connection from the control to the valve that opens the duct to the vents along the bottom of the screen. it depends which heating system you have, is it the fancy one that does temperatures each side of the car differently, or just the basic one?

it looks like the flaps directing the air on the heating system are controlled by small motor units on the heater unit, so possibly the one that controls the screen vents has failed or stuck.

It's one temperature control. Do I have to take dash apart to get to that motor and flap?
thanks

you might be able to access one side by taking the glove box out, the other may be tricky but just about accessible up from the drivers footwell or by removing the radio for access.

I looked at and motor 13 doesnt move at all when I changed air vents control. I guess this one is dead. It's not clear how to take it out.

looking at the diagram it appears its just held on with a single cross head screw, the other end must connect to a valve flap somehow, but never having had to work on one I wouldnt know how to change one. I guess that depending if you are buying a new one or getting one from a salvage yard, if from a salvage yard you can work it out as you get the old one out.

Took it to a local volvo independent shop to help with the problem. They told me that all motors are fine, Most likely flap got stock somewhere or broke.
They told me I would have to remove dashboard to get to it and figure out the problem. I still cant figure out from schematics where this damn flap is located.
