I got this car about a year ago and the hatch worked fine for a few weeks, then stopped working for a week, worked again, and then stopped completely. I tried disconnecting the battery to restart the car, didnt work. I did find a wiring terminal of sorts in my cargo, next to the battery, with a blue wire hanging out. Ive found the schematic for my car, but am not knowledgeable enough to figure this out. Is the blue wire related or is it something else?

My '07 V70 has the same symptoms. I think it's the handle. What I do is, instead of sqeezing the latch on the tailgate, push it in toward the car then it will open.

The most common problem associated with this is a broken wire in the tailgate wiring harness aroung the flexing point. If you open the tailgate you'll see the harness attached to the left hinge. the constant flexing over the years just breaks the wires. It's not overly
complicated to replace the entire tailgate harness and it's only about $200 at your local dealer. It is also possible that the latch
is faulty but more common to have the damaged harness. hope this helps
