Hi guys,

I'm just wondering if it's easy to replace a whole wheel bearing assembly on a non abs volvo 440? it's a front passenger side wheel bearing assembly, so i'm not pressing the bearings or anything.

Should i do this myself or should i be taking this to a mechanic? I recently changed the brake pads by myself (i've never really worked on cars!) and was just wondering if this is a much bigger job? or if it's difficult?

BIG Cheers

Shouldnt be to bad, just remember it will probably entail removing a driveshaft as these are front wheel drive cars.

Sweet! Do you mean i'd have to remove the whole driveshaft or just remove it from the old wheel bearing assembly?

Cheers

from memory (and its been a while) you either have to take the half shaft out at the engine, or remove the suspension/etc to slip the bearing off the end of the driveshaft.

This may be too late, but if you replace the whole hub you do not have to remove the whole drive shaft. Just undo the drive shaft nut on the ground, lift up and undo all ball joints, etc, and pull hub out. You may need a ball joint press to undo them w/out damaging the rubber booth.
