Hi everyone,I drive a Volvo s40 2001 and I would like to buy a diesel one from 2006.I found a garage who sells it with 6 months guarantee. But different people are making me aware that these Volvo's might be not a good choice because they run on Renault engines and so on.Now,I am not an expert in engines,I only know little.
Does anyone has any experience with this model of Volvo? Is it reliable? If it has the proper maintenance, how many km can it last?
I hope to hear from you. Thanks alot!!

I have owned several volvos with the renault engines (3x440's 3x340's, and now 2x v40's) all have been up to the same good longevity as the name volvo stands for. none so far havn't made at least 200,000 miles. my v40's which I have at the moment are at 150,000 miles and 165,000 miles respectively.

Thank you,Grendel.
200k miles thats about 320k kilometers, the car i want to buy has about 190k km,and it cost arround 9,000 euro.
On the other hand, what makes me hesitate is,even if it runs to 320k km,is still far from a VW diesel engine which runs usually to 450k/500k km.
Thank you once again.Razvan

I have only had the petrol engined ones, the diesel should be more reliable.
