First of all i would like to say how i like my volvo...
Its a fantastic car in everyway..

I have a small problem and i would like to know if anyone is facing the same problem with me..

Sometimes when i start the car or even sometimes while im driving i see a strange message in my Screen..
Its says Traffic announcement and it gives me 2 options press enter or press exit.
When this message appears the audio system from disc turns automatically to radio.
If i press enter stays in radio if i press exit returns to my disc.

I know its not something important but i want to fix it..

My first go at a Volvo. Played with BMW's for the past 10 years. Introducing Polestar number 003. I had number 035 as well but some uninsured Korean lady hit me head on and wrote the thing off. More on that later...!!

I put on the Heico Brakes and had rear discs manufactured in the US of A as Heico do not make them. Heico suspension, Heico Steering Wheel, Heico Short Throw Shifter, Heico Air Filter, Heico Illuminated Side Steps. Comes stock with the Heico Diamond Cut 19 inch Rims and Quad Exhaust. Vinyl Wrapped the Roof, Wing Mirrors, Rear Support Pillar, front Grill, Interior and a heap of Polestar Stickers to Rims, Boot Lid, Wing Mirrors, and Rear Doors. Also has the Rear Seat Entertainment package installed to occupy the little ones.

Getting the rear Callipers sprayed soon to match the Heico Blue colour and time to start tweaking this thing.

Now, for anyone wishing to purchase a Polestar beware of what happened to number 035. It was written off with a repair value being in excess of $60k. Some bloke in Western Australia bought it for $15k at a salvage sale....!!!! (Bargain of the century). He then purchased another S60 that had been written of for $4k and is blending the two together as we speak. I was hit head on doing about 65 kms per hour. The car spun around twice and every airbag went off. You've been warned.;

I recently had the dealer do the 15,000 mile service on my 2011 S60 T6, which will be a year old this month. The work included a software update that the service rep was not too clear on. I have since discovered a number of changes in the "infotainment" and nav system, and, even better, a new "S" driving mode that changes throttle response and shift points. Is there a list of what the update includes so I can intentionally take advantage of them rather than just stumbling upon them?

My girlfriend just purchased a 2012 S60 demo from our local dealer. The car was not equipped with nav or a back-up camera. Since we were interested in the back-up camera but not the nav, the salesman said she could purchase the back-up camera separately. We were led to believe that the car came 'pre-wired' but after three days in the service department, the car still is 'apart' and hasn't been ready for pick-up. I'm wondering if in fact the car in fact came pre-wired for a back-up camera or the dealer is having the install the camera from scratch.

Any insight would be appreciated.

In the market for a new car and looked at a s60 last week. Very impressed with the look and beautiful interior. Currently drive a 2009 Infiniti G37X. Anyone who has driven this, how does it compare with the s60 t6? Fun to drive factor, reliability is very important as the Infiniti is completely bulletproof. Previous car was an Audi, wonderful build quality but it gets really annoying to have the check engine light on 50% of the time. Your opinion appreciated on this possible move to Volvo?

I have a 2011 V60 geartronic and it has developed a fault. When driving, the auto locking no longer activates, but I get a click and then all of the windows open by themselves. If i close the windows, it happens again about 5 minutes later. Tried altering the autolock preferences (on/off) but it makes no difference. Local Volvo dealer is now closed for 2 days - anyone any suggestions (other than taking the car to the dealing when they come of holidays!!).

I was driving on the freeway going about 65mph yesterday. In an blink, I noticed a shift in the speed in the car, going down gradually and noticed the "reduced engine performance" message on the message panel. The car speed went down to about 45mph and held steady until I parked the car. About 35/40 minutes later, I started the car and noticed that the message was not there. I continued to drive home - about 10 minutes - and the car seemed to be okay. I drove to work today, going about 35 to 45 mph and everything seemed okay. I drive at lunch time with about same speed and no "reduced engine performance" message. Should I be worried? Is it dangerous to drive the car? Also, do you know what would cause the "reduced engine performace" light to come? What is the problem(s)?

I have used 87 octane in my S60 T6 and noticed some odd shifting/surging in low to medium acceleration. Talked to the service adviser and he said that is likely caused by the 87 octane gas and it is best to use premium gas.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this or have you noticed differences in your T6 when you use different grades of gasoline?

We have a 2012 Volvo S60 – bought just a couple of months ago. Still discovering the car and Volvo Sensus system.
I am using a 16Gb USD stick plugged in the car’s USB port and quite frequently I get an unreadable track error. Most of the songs play fine, some get the error towards the end of the song, some don’t play at all.

I went back to my computed, reformatted the stick, copied again all songs from my computer and still experience the issue. All songs are fine on the computer.

I found some discussions referencing the error however not sure if anyone found a solution.

Anyone else experienced this?

Does anyone have a good tip on where to get a Bra for the front end of a 2011 S60? Not easy to find I have discovered. Many websites say they do but when I type in 2011 S60 it comes up not available.

Hello Fellow S60 lovers and owners,

I've a 2012 S60, T4 Plus, that comes with the 235/45R17 Tires. I've been experiencing a weird behavior since I got the car ( I have only 6K KMs on the Odo). Whenever I'm stationary, in traffic, on a road that is tilted to the left, and start to move slowly, the car starts to steer (A complete half a turn in a few meters) and I have to keep steering back to center.

The steering keeps doing that all the time. When I drive faster, I don't get that problem. I think the wheels might be slightly misaligned, only when I'm driving fast that I feel the car moves very slightly to the left, but not to the extent that it completely steers on its own while moving slowly.

Also, under hard acceleration, if for example the steering is slightly to the right, the car would not center itself but the steering would re\main shifted to the right which it shouldn't.

I haven't checked it yet at the Volvo maintenance shop, but since this is Egypt, I wouldn't be expecting much of a technical explanation, just a simple "That's how its supposed to be "

Just wanted to let others know in case they encounter this. The manual for my 2011 S60 T6 lists the low beam halogen bulb as an H7, but it's really an H11. I wanted to upgrade the bulbs to the Silverstar Ultras, and bought some H7's since the manual called for it. When I pulled the headlight and untwisted the bulb it was definitely an H11. So....... the manual is 100 percent wrong. Seems weird to me.

2011 S60 T6 with about 8500 miles. When the temperature is cold (20's) it seems the transmission shifts slowly and oddly. Anyone else experiencing this?

i have a htc sensation and its working with bluetooth connectivy without a glitch. recently i tried to play music (mp3 format) from my htc via cars media (bluetooth).
car's console stating 'streaming' but nothing happens. any clue why its not playing anything? thanks

I am looking to buy a nice used car. I found this nice looking Volvo S60 2001 5-cyl 2.4ltr, automatic transmission, black color, excellent exterior, 87K mileage. I have never used a Volvo before. After reading a number of reviews on the Internet and epinions, it seems that the Volvo S60 is a very nice car (in the breath of BMW or Mercedes). But all of them were based on first impression, and mostly while the cars are in new condition.

I have been driving a very reliable and dependable Toyota Camry LE V6 for the past 12 years (bought new). We also own an Audi 100CS (1992) with excellent reliability and dependability. These two cars have never had any major problems. The Audio 100CS had a dead fuel injector that costed us about $450 to fix. Other than that, these two cars were the best we have had (compared to our relatives whose cars were in and out of the garage quite often). Currently I have put 247000 miles on the Camry, and 134000 on the Audi. I normally don't part with my car in several years -- as you can see from my brief history here.

So here are my questions: Is the Volvo (particularly this S60 2001 model) a good reliable and dependable car? Does it have a low-cost maintenance service? What are the general problems associated with the Volvo S60, if any?

I appreciate any advice or comments, especially from the Volvo S60 2001 owner (or Volvo owners in general).

The dealer said my Iphone 3G won't work with the S60 blue tooth, but the volvo site says it should. I've tried several times and can't get it to work. I was able to pair my ipad and another friend's phone, so it's working. Any suggestions? Not even sure who to call about it.

My car is five weeks old, less than 8,000miles. Noticed a dent and some scratches on driver's side front seat last week-uff. Reported to dealership who acknowledged issue but said to simply monitor issue. Has anyone else experienced this issue? How would other driver's manage issue? Care has safe and secure warranty. Would like to keep car for as long as possible...

I just picked up our new S60 T5 a few days ago and I already have a service message that states "Start Button Service Required". I'm wondering if anyone has ever seen this message before and knows what it means? Off the cuff, it sounds like the start button is faulty and I may have an issue starting the car if I ignore it and reset the maintenance messages. I left a voice mail with the sales associate that sold us the car and am waiting to hear back from him before taking it in to the service department. So far, I've had no issue starting the car.

So on my way to the dealership this afternoon, I had a hard time turning the engine over. At one point, pressing the start button didn't actually do anything at all. On the third or fourth try, everything fired up and I was on my way. At a red light several miles down the road, the engine totally cut out on me. I managed to get it started after two or three tries and finally got to the dealership. The service owner discovered that computer reported 4 key faults and it was likely due to the contacts in the key slot not sitting forward far enough. So when I was sitting at the light, the car acted as if I had pulled the key out of the ignition. One of the techs pushed the contacts further forward, but I'm getting that part totally replaced tomorrow as a precaution. If any of you see this, hopefully you'll now know what this is.

I am about to order a company car and have a choice between the Volvo S60 and Ford Taurus. I currently have a 2010 Ford Fusion and either are an upgrade. I have never owned a Volvo and looking for some feedback and thoughts on the 2012 Volvo S60 T5. Also, what color does the dashboard illuminate at night? Since it is a fleet car, I have not been able to test drive at my local dealership. I appreciate any input as I have only been able to sit in the car and am going blind on my decision. I also drive around 30,000 miles/year. How are the seats as far as comfort? My Ford Fusion seats kill my back and are pretty uncomfortable. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Extreme shortage of lads with tweeked volvos, or else I'm looking in the worng place! Here's my V60 de badged ( rear and r-design on grill) black out on volvo on grill and chrome around windows. Glass tinited and eibach lowering springs. Mirrors might be next - jury's out and maybe spacers.

Hello, I am new to this forum.

I just purchased a brand new Volvo S60 R-Design last week and have been driving it for the last few days. Needless to say, it's the best car I've ever personally owned, inside and out.

I am no stranger to Volvo's; my previous car was a 2002 S60-AWD.

Now, my only disappointment is regarding the Premium Audio system with the 2012. The controls and interface of the system itself is great. The actual sound quality is decent, BUT the volume output is simply NOT LOUD ENOUGH. It could be acoustics, but even while sitting in silence in the car it's not loud as I expect.

My 2002-S60 had the most impressive sound system I've ever heard, even though I may be biased, but I can safely say that while sitting in the car with the engine off if I turned the volume as far as I could with the 2002, my ears would not be able to handle it. When I try the similar thing with the 2012 it's loud, but not deafening loud.

I do not remember the wattage of the 2002 system, but the 650 watts/12 speakers in the 2012 should be louder right? Not to mention the $3000 package it entails.

Trust me, I am not taking this great car for granted, but the stereo system is one of the most important things to the experience for me and I'm thinking it's got to be better.

Unless I have gone deaf over the last few days. I'm a musician and pro mix engineer amongst other things so I have a good sense of sound and volume and my ENT says my ears are fine so?

I would really appreciate some insight on this, or your own experiences, thoughts. What can I do? Is there a way to have access to the amplifier? Where is it located?

I wouldn't want to mess with the actual system, but I wouldn't mind swapping in a better amp for more volume or taking any other suggestions..

I have tried and tried and can't get my brand new, 2012 S60 to see my iPhone 3GS via bluetooth. I can use the USB cable and listen to my music - but I want to be able to use hands free calling!!!

Curious if anyone else has had troubles connecting and or staying connected to the car system with Droid type phones. I have a 2001 S 60 and the Samsung SCH I500 (Fascinate) and sometimes it connects just fine and works ok. Other times the car and phone act like they have never been paired. Other times they will be paired and I will make a call and the audio will not go through the car system and yet others they will just disconnect randomly.

Any others have this type of problem and have any solutions?

Not so long ago, Volvo had announced that it was working on a plug-in hybrid version of their V60 wagon. Now according to Volvo, the V60 may be out by as early as next year.

Volvo said it is working on two variants, a gas-electric plug-in hybrid for North America, and a diesel-electric plug-in hybrid for the rest of the world. Volvo's system, which uses lithium-ion batteries to power the electric motors, has a range of 31-miles on battery power alone, after which the combustion engine will kick in to take you home.

No figures are known what the gas-electric versions will achieve, but the European diesel-electric version is said to be good for 124-mpg.

With the combustion engine powering the front wheels, and the 70-hp electric motors powering the rear, this is effectively an all-wheel drive vehicle also. Volvo said it will be more expensive than a regular V60, but will cost two-thirds less to run.

The V60 Plug-In Hybrid will go on sale in 2012, first in Europe, followed by the rest of the world in the same year.

I am experiencing a disturbingly increase of paint scuffs on my s60’s hood and wings.

At first I thought it was darn luck, repainted manually using original paint, I even added the original mud flaps to hopefully avoid such occurrences but scuffs seem to appear every two to three weeks.

I would like to know is this a known issue? Is the s60’s painting that weak?

I went to the dealership and the guy who sold me the car said that it is damage due to stones hitting the car while on the road and I am to blame!!!

As a comparison my wife’s 5 year old Golf Plus (2006 metallic blue) hood and wings are scuff free!!!!

For the record, I drive on standard roads and never have the car drove on dirt roads etc.
(New S60 2.0T 2011 Vibrant copper), also, the front bumper is scuff free.

I’ve opened a case with Volvo, pretty frustrated by the dealer's response, any comments? Helpful tips? Has anyone experienced something similar? Many thanks in advance.

Once I start playing a playlist on my USB-connected iPod, how do I navigate back up one level to the list of playlists or folders? Just pressing Exit doesn't take me anywhere, unless it's a long press on Exit to go all the way back to the main menu (where you choose Radio, CD, USB, etc.)

Seems like I should be able to back up just one level without going all the way back to the beginning, but I sure haven't been able to figure it out.

I am looking for instructions for installing the VOLVO mudflaps that I just purchased from the dealer for my 2012 S60. Where do I install the clear decal (chip guard) that was enclosed with the front mudflaps? There are 2 decals on the card, each measuring 4-1/2 x 1-1/4 rounded on one end and angled on the other. I appreciate any help. Thank you!

I just ordered the 2012 S60 today and am still waivering between the leather and fabric (t-tec) upholstery. I currently have a 1996 850 which I purchased new. It has velour seats which I love and which have worn well. They barely show wear at all. I'm not that fond of what the t-tec/fabric looks like although the only car on the lot that they have at the dealer with that upholstery is the C30 so I can't really compare since the seats themselves feel different than the S60. If velour was a choice, there would be no question about what I would order. I tend to keep cars for a while (obviously!) and am concerned that the leather will looked cracked and worn unless I spend considerable time every year maintaining them. I would prefer cloth over leather but just am not quite sure about the t-tec/fabric. I'm curious how the t-tec wears, how easy it is to maintain and reasons owners chose t-tec over leather. There is still time to change this option (I ordered leather) so I'm interested in opinions.

When I brought this up to the salesman, who wasn't pushing me either way, he showed me his 10 year old Volvowith leather seats, prefacing it by saying they were in good shape. They were definitely cracking and the driver's side was quite worn and peely on the seat back closest to the door. . .wear marks from getting in and out of the car. I don't really want this look in 10 years and am not sure if it can be avoided even by good maintenance.

Morning Volvo folks , I just bought a new 2012 S60 T5 like 2 months ago , I love it so far . 2 day's ago a started hearing a noise at low speeds like a muffler is dragging on the floor . I checked under the car and it seems nothing is even close to touching the floor that would make such a noise . I will be taking the car to the dealer just wondering if anyone had a issue or know something i do not

I've just bought a new S60 2011 2.0T, a great car, I am very happy with it.

i've been following oil consumption and it seems that it was one liter of oil short.

No car messages were displayed, nothing was out of the ordinary and since it was the first 1000 KMs I was driving "easy" about 40 KM a day.

Can lack of 1 liter of engine oil result in any damage / problem ? (i've added oil and it is fine now).

Anyone know where I can find some tuning parts for the S60 T6? ECU upgrades, intakes, exhausts, etc. I'm considering this car, but haven't found any information regarding possible upgrades.

I picked up my new car today and love it so far. It has the nav system, bliss etc. I have an iphone 3Gs which I was able to pair easily, but the phone book was a little more reluctant to synchronise. It did eventually, though.

My question is: has anyone found a way to dial a phone number with an extension number eg: 305-555-1212 x 32897, using the voice command without having to manually put in the x32897 on the number pad after the initial connection is made?

I purchased A 2012 S60 in June. The radio frequently displays " aquiring signal" . I went to the dealer for an update but still having poor reception with the radio. Anyone having the same problem? I live in Florida so hills are not the issue.
