This may be a dumb question, but I am new to the inline 5 of the Volvo's. Is there any way to twin turbo and twin intercool the I5. And also, is there a way to develop a true dual exhaust system for it.

I love the performance of my S60, but concerning the suspension I find that some road bumps come through with a bit of a jar. I guess this is due to the sporty suspension. Does anyone know whether Volvo offers a conversion to a softer suspension.

Looking at a few new cars and here is the list:

Acura TL
Saab 9-5 Aero
Volvo T-5 or R

I still have an Audi A6 but the tranny is dying after 120K (mostly highway) miles...

Obviously I am expecting a po-Volvo bias here but what are the advantages/disadvantages of the Volvo as compared to the other two cars? I keep my car for long periods of time and would like your opinion re long term reliability, etc.

My name is Christian. I just bought a 2001 volvo s 60 and got the keyless entry romote seperately on e-bay. I would like to know if someone could explain to me how to program the remote. I have the owner's manual but the instructions are not in there and I have not been able to find the instructions on line.

Just joined. I pick up my first ever Volvo in a few days time and am somewhat aghast at the lack of compatibility of child car seats for the Volvo S60; is that an S60 thing or a general Volvo problem I wonder? Does anyone have any advice about which is the best Child Car Seat for the S60 (Nov 2002). I am looking for one that ranges from 9 months to about 11 years. I already own a Britax Trio for our other car (Citroen Picasso) and that fulfills all of our requirements. The oprions for the S60 though seem really limited. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hello all! I have owned my volvo S60 for a few months now, but have just recently joined this forum. I am looking forward to discussions with all of you. With all of this said, I have a question of my own: I was just curious if it is normal for the Volvo S60's cooling fan to remain running once you turn the car off. I only noticed it one time, but found it odd. If it is normal, well my car has NEVER done it before. Just trying to figure it out if it is normal or if it is a sign for soemthing to go bad soon. Hi all Volvo owners,

I am a proud owner of a S60. I love its handling and style. However, recently I have been having problems with the fuel tank opening... it won't OPEN!! This is the second time I'm getting this problem. The service technicians told me that there was some kind of "short-circuit" in the car's electronics.

I am wondering if this is a common problem with other Volvo drivers out there.

Is there a way to fix it ourselves? Or is there a opening release handle hidden somewhere in the car (like what most Japanese car models have)?

I am hoping that someone will be able to help me out. I have an arbitration hearing coming up in January for my leased volvo. In the 1st 18,000 miles I had 4 engine problems. I have 3 more problems since then and I am trying to get out of my lease. Has anyone esle had problems with there car like this. Does anyone know where I can get information so I can strengthen my case against Volvo.

I have a brand new 2005 Volvo S60.

When I got it the radio played just fine with great sound (6 speaker performance sound). After installation of a VDO Navigator the sound from the front main speakers is much lower and bass is almost gone !!

The VDO screen is mounted on an original Volvo Navigator top plate, but that should really not change anything as I can see....

Does anyone have any ideas ??

I have recently purchaseda S60 2.4 T 01 (pre-owned) and I have noticed that the head lights are out of adjustment (far up) creating an unconrfortable situation for the driver of the next vehicle forward. I believe I found the adjusting point but when attempting to turn either side, it makes a clicking noise with no difference in the position of the light.
Can anyone provide me with some recommendations on how to adjust them, and if possible, the location of the adjusting point. I am afraid I am turning something else.

After I repleace the dashbord the car will not start, I have tried locking and unlocking the door and then start the car but no luck. the manual tells me to
call the volvo dealer. message tell me that the car does not start and to try it again.

hello forum, 02 V60 AWD, lately the key switch will not move into the start position. It seems to be blocked by something mechanical. It will move into the 1st and 2nd position but is stopped from moving into the 3rd or start position. I bang the wheel, turn it hard back and forth, pull the key in and out and after much fussing and some cussing it will release and start. The last time it did it the message center said, IMOBILIZER,CK MANUAL. manual said something about key codes matching. I need to get this fixed before I'm afoot. any help out there?thanks larry

This will be my 3rd Volvo, I previously had an 88 740(150K+miles) and a 86 760 Turbo (226K+miles) and I am very aware of how solid the older Volvos can be when they get to be older. Question is, does anyone have an idea if S60 2.4 is just as reliable or even more so when they hit the 6 figure mark? I'm very impressed so far with this car (Just got it a few weeks ago) but I dont want to have a bad experience.

Hi I live in upstate ny and my S60 has daytime runnign lights my local state laws do not state that they have to be on but my local volvo dealer will not turn them off.Being that i have the blue Bi-Xenon Headlamps is there any danger to them being on all the time.

Does anyone else experience problems with their S60 seat memory functions?

I just got this 98volvo S60 the car gives me knocking sound at the rear end while taking any turn or while crossing any jump wht could b there. Actually this is my first time i am keeping a Car .......... dont know that much about the cars.

I am new to Volvo and need to know if I have a problem or not with the heater and fan of an brand-new, Euro-model s60 that I just bought. The behaviour I describe in this post is pretty bizarre and nothing like any of the other cars I have owned. But, like I say, I am new to the world of Volvo, so maybe they know something I do not, or someone out there has a solution to the problem, before I head back to the dealer.

The user guide says that the fan is controlled automatically when the heater is set to Auto. In the light of this, I expect the fan to come on automatically on very cold mornings, as soon as the engine/coolant is up to temperature, in order to speed up the heating in the car, and raise the real temp to the desired temp, which I dial on the dashboard.

This does not happen: instead I have to manually check if warm air is coming out of the vents on the dashboard and then, as soon as I detect warm air, switch on the fan to heat up the car. If I do not do this, the car simply does not get up to the desired temp, of 22C: it sticks around 19-20. Presumably, this will get worse as we get into Winter and is not helped by the fact that, after a while, the heater seems to give up and start pumping cooler air out of the vents.

If I start the fan manually, the car does heat up, and pretty quickly, too. But after a while, instead of turning itself off automatically once the selected temperature is reached, the temperature of the air coming out of the vents sinks progressively until the effect is as if the air-conditioner is on and blasting cool air out the vents. It seems as if the on-board computer thinks it has made a mistake by overheating the cabin, and now needs to cool the car down again.

But is gets worse!

The "heater" never again comes back on, choosing instead to continue emitting cool air. At this point, the only solution is to turn the fan off.

Am I missing something here? Or does anyone have any ideas or hints as to what could be going wrong? It would be nice to be able to refer to a service bulletin or something when I take the car in for a check.

Interestingly, on warm days (yes, we do get them once in a while here), if I dial in a cool temperature, the air-conditioner starts up the fan immediately and blasts cool air into the cabin.

I sign up as a very unhappy Volvo owner. I purchase a 2004 S60 AWD in March. I now have about 12,000 KM (7,500 miles). I thought I would grow to like this car over time, but that is not the case. I have never seen a car with so many basic design flaws in todays very well thought out auto world.

I never test drove this car when I bought it so it is entirely my fault.

Any way, trust me, I am nt here as a troll. I just want to see if others are having the same thoughts as me.

V40 just gives me sucha nice coosy cushion like feeling…..a very responsive car with regard to brakes, taking turns, changing lanes etc. has gota a lot of head room n leg room ….. I m so pleased with this car. It is really a luxury sedan

Hello all Volvo fans

I am a proud owner of a volvo for the past 3 months. About 4 weeks after I bought it I notised 3 minute puff outs (bulges) in the rear built insports kit (located in the exact center and lateral sides). I visited the dealer where I found the EXACT same defect on the S60's with the sports kit (including the R).

Any ideas of what could be the cause? reason for alarm?

My 2000VolvoS60 has strange problem, I’d smell something burning my car just after I’d make 2 or 3 km of my journey. I checked everything frum the radiator to all the plugs I cudn find the reason . But it vanishes after some time.

Today in da moring i checked up ma radiataor n the bubbles were cumign out of it.. whtz teh reason behind it? Is it because of me head gas kit or wht. Let me know soon bcuz this problem has jus arose today it was working best untill...

I am looking for some high quality tires for my Volvo S60. The current one are just 6months old but these tires lost the grip so are very risky to continue using.
I need your recomendations wht tires are good eg steel radial and fiber mix radial. I dont know anything about such things.

I own Volvo 98S60 and from a few days it is giving strange sort of cracking sound from the right side of front wheel as some thing is hitting it specially when ever i have to apply the break.

The S60 is superb.. i better say bcuz none of teh other cars had eva impressed me but this did.. this gives best journey i guess dat itz teh perfect

I am a relaxed owner of S60 volvo.The most amazing thing in it is cruise control facility while driving to office or to my farm house i can relax, talk and fully enjoy the company of my friends and family. it gives u carefree time while driving.

My volvo S60 is the most safest car i must say bcuz bcuz it has got air bags at every site which sumtymes forces me to drive harshly.. lolz but its teh most safe car.
