HI, i recently had my emissions sensor changed at a cost of $400.00
the light went off afterwards - but came back on; the mechanic reset it.
It is back on again.... Now i'm wondering if i replaced the sensor for naught $$$!
The emissions were checked and are perfectly balanced. Also went through aircare after the new sensor was put in -passed with flying colours.
ONly 55,000Kms. on the volvoS60 too.
Any ideas?

Just was wondering if there are any S60R Evolve's on here ...also how many are in the u.s. alone. I have a friend who is purchasing one come the 1st of the year and I will be helping modifying it, also we will be opening a shop in Houston,Tx sometime soon.

Car is a 2002 s60 awd 2.4t with 99,700 miles.

I am in need of immediate help since warranty ends in 200 miles. Last week we had alot of work done under warranty --

front stabilizer bars

RPM sensor

power steering pump

front angle gear

Car drives the same way as before the work. Dealer didn't even want to replace the differential [angle gear they call it].

The car drags like a 4wd chevy pickup left in 4wd on dry asphalt when you back out of a parking spot. It's like it struggles to move at all. There is a goodly pause when you shift it into D before it engages. The strangest thing is that when you drive the cat and park it then put it into park and take your foot off the brake it is stationary. TURN OFF THE KEY AND IT SURGES FORWARD like pressure is being released. This basically just started.

Volvo dealer thinks I'm a nut/jerk because I refused to pay two deductibles under the VOLVO "VIP" [hahaha] warranty when they had the car for three weeks and tried to put the work on two invoices. I need to know what is the problemto ask for or I'm screwed.

Now this morning the car took a long time to start finally started very rough and screen reads "reduced engine performance". Its next trip isback to dealer [or bottom of nearest lake]. I need some help with diagnosis - tried calling car talk, but couldn't get through.

Please reply - it seems like there are alot of really knowledgeable people around here.

Ahhhh. I took my car through the wash today. It was due. last time must have been in August

When I got home I noticed that the pass. side light has water and fog in it!!! can't be good for a xenon bulb.

It is under warrenty but before I go through the hassle of taking it in to the dealer is there any obvious area on these where water may be getting in?

I have a position light bulb failure. I find nothing in the manual nor do I notice any bulbs out anywhere. Anyone have a clue what the problem may be?

there is an offer where the car S60 170hp with AT transmission (no geartronic) is at the same price as the manual one.
When I read the specification I saw that the car woth AT is slower and consume more gas.
Is so bad to get the AT transmission?
Could you give me your imression from your experience.
I'm not a AT lover but if it's for free I think to try it at this time.

When locking the vehicle with remote, direction indicator doesn't work.
I noticed that a few days ago and I can't find out what seems to be the problem.
Signals are normal by unlocking.

The book says nothing about it.

AND I desperately need instuction manual for instaled radio - type HU 650

Can I get someones opinon on the 2005 S60R vs a 3 series BMW. (I don't like the new bodystyle of the BMW's, but the ride is legendary) How would you rate them?

I am looking to buy a new car, and it has come down to the S60R and the RX-8.

I have done quite a bit of research on these two vehicles, looking at message boards of both fan clubs. I've also scoured more magazine reviews than I care to remember...

The RX-8 is my heart's choice, but the S60R is the the favorite in my head. My biggest three categories are:

1. Safety: Passive safety, mostly. Volvo has the rep for being safer than a cradle, but the RX-8 has many unique safety features itself. I am concerned mostly of side impacts, as I have seen the least information about these accidents. Can anyone compare these two vehicles on their safety, based on experience? This is my #1 concern with the vehicles.

2. Utility: specifically, how the cars act in show and rain (with the proper tires, of course) and how useful they are with body kits on. Is there any trouble getting up into driveways/parking lots without scraping the beautiful front?

3. Performance: they both zoom-zoom, the RX-8 around 6s for 0-60, and the S60R at 5.4ish...but can the Volvo do it as well around corners as the RX-8 can? Do I give up a ton of handling with the RX-8 for a faster S60R?

I am wondering if anyone here owns, has owned, or has driven these two vehicles and can do a first-hand comparison for me in these areas?

Any additional thoughts or ideas are more than welcome.

Looking at my car today, I decided I didnt like the Volvo and the R emblems on the front grille, so I went to take them off. I thought I read somewhere that u need to open the hood and remove that black bracket that keeps u from reaching the back of the grille.

So I remove all the screws and those pop-in clips. The bracket wont move...the locks for both sides of the hood latches are attached to that bracket from underneath, and I cant figure out how to get to the back of the grille.

I was able to coax the R emblem off, but the Volvo one is not budging. Any suggestions?

I recently replaced all the burnt out bulbs on my instrument cluster and climate controls. My sunroof was up when I started and I disconnected the battery before I started taking things apart. When I put everything back together and connected the battery the sunroof would not close. I managed to close it by applying 12Vdc directly to the motor. My guess is that the module controlling the motor has to be reset. Any help would be appreciated.

I just bought a 2001 Volvo s60 2.4T and would like to know what is the best type and brand of oil etc to use and are oil and gas additives recommended? If so, which ones? I did read the manual and it says oil additives are not recommended, but my mechanic recommended using them

Have a 2002 S60 2.4T 49K Miles

Recently have had a very high pitched sound, sounds like grinding metal - seems to come from behind the dash, doesn't appear to be the brakes or rotors, they are fine. A/C, heating don;t appear to affect it. Seems like it is coming from the engine - no warning lights. Occurred a while ago and went away quickly, now happening more regularly in the past couple days.

Have taken it to the dealership but they have to hear it. Seems to disappear before getting there.

I have 500 miles of warranty left - anyone with any ideas or thoughts onwhat is causing this?

The cable from the window regulator to the window track slide has come loose from a pulley or guide. Since this whole assembly is inside the door cavity, I cannot see what has broken. How is the window regulator and track assembly removed from the door cavity. There appears to be special pins, not screws holding the window regulator to the inside door panel. How are these pins removed?

can any of you guys recomend a good yet cheap reverse parking sensor kit ??
preferably, just one with a buzzer and no dispaly attachment which has to mount on the dashboard??
ive had a look at afew on ebay, but its hard to judge their quality as every seller will tell you their outstanding in quality and easy to install....

ive had a look at the rear bumper, and to install the sensors and retrieve the wires through the holes i would need to drill, i looks to me like the bumper will have to come of, plus, i cant really see whats behind the bumper ? is there anything which would cause a problem ??? is the bumper easy to remove ? can anyone tell me how to remove it if it needs to come off ??

I have an old Cd changer from a S70 and was going to put it in a S-60 can I do that? have anyone done this? Is it pre-vired? the connectors on the driver side in the trunk does not look like the old ones? Thanks

I am new on this forum...or any forum for that matter, so please bear with me and my ignorance. I just bought a 2001 volvo s60 2.4T last week from off lease (was my friends car) well, everything was going fine until yesterday when the service engine light came on when I started the engine, but after about 5 mins of driving it turns off. Now, the red triangle light comes on as well along with the service engine light that turns off (can't remember if the red triangle light turns off) The only thing that has been done to the car is the mechanic put in Wynns engine treatment or oil treatment. Any help or advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys I have a 2001 S60 2.4. When I open all my doors with the remote (click unlock twice) all doors open up fine. However, when I go to close my doors with the remote the rear door behind the driver stays open but alarm still sets. Guys think of any little minor fix or ever encounter this problem?

I own a 2001 S60. I'm happy with it. Have 52K miles on it. But for usual issues with remote and the light bulbs haven't had any major problems..
My dealer says the CV boots are torn and need to replace them. He gave a quote for $600. Thought that was very high. Wondering if I can get it done else where for a lower price.

I drive an 04 S60 2.4 (non-turbo) with the 5 speed manual trans and about 26,000 miles.

I've noticed an odd noise that seems to have appeared in the past 5000 miles, and wondering if anyone has any ideas about it. At idle, with a warm or cold engine, there's a rattely/light nocking (I want to say from the engine's top end, almost like valves out of adjustment?) and it's loud enough that it's making me concerned since i've never heard a modern non-diesel engine sound like this with such low miles. I run all synthetic oil (whatever the recommended viscocity is) and the oil has been changed every 3500 miles since new. I've checked and the oil level is fine.

I've not had great luck with the local dealer's diagnostic skills for problems that aren't bad enough to totally disable the car, so just curious if anyone out there has any ideas? Is it normal?

When I started the car to come home tonight, the car had a distinct lack of power and a whining noise when I accelerate (as well as smoke coming out the back on acceleration). Could this be a turbo problem? Are those problems expensive - they certainly sound it? Many thanks. Would just like a few ideas so I don't sound a complete ignoramus when I talk to a mechanic.

Just noticed the rear plastic panel (odd idea this..) on the rear of the boot (trunk) lid of my S60 has come loose. Looks like the clips that hold it on to the boot lid have broken in a couple of places. Is it possible to get hold of these clips and if so, how easy/hard is it to remove the whole panel and replace the broken clips?

Hi, I have a 2001 S60 and I just had HID lights installed, the only problem is that the computer in the car doesn't recognize these lights so I have a flashing message that my headlights aren't working. I called the dealer and they said that there is no reset and that as long as I have these lights in my car then the light will be on. Has anyone else had this problem and if so is there a way to fix it? Thanks

Hi, I own an S60 2.4T SE Geartronic. Recently i noticed that the climet control is not working at its best.

After 30 - 40 minutes of operating beautifly, the temp just drops to a deep freeze mode... and the only way to warm the car is to set the climet control to MAX heat.
any other mark, which is not the maximum heat, will send a freezing cold blast of air throgh the vents,.

Both controls are set to 22 degrees.

did any one knows about such problem ? or even better - how to fix it ?

Oh my god.

Just put the heat on for the first time this year and had to pull over to get out and gasp for air. I kid you not. I'm lucky in that I only have 4 kilometers to work.

I put the A/C back on and let the car run for about 2 minutes with the fan on high. The smell passed.

When I got home turned off the A/C and turned up the dual temp controls and yeoweeeeeee!

What could this be? Doesn't the air for a/c and heat use the same vents???

My name is Michael and I am new to this forum. I recently bought a used 2002 Volvo S60. I like to do my own maintenance on my other vehicles, but I am a little reluctant on this one since I cannot seem to find a service manual.

I am looking to change my oil. I have bought a new K&N Oil filter and have the appropriate oil, however some of the posts I have read have got me worried about the "plastic housing" on the oil filter. If I change to a K&N do I still need the housing? Is there a correct torque setting on the new filter and drain plug?

My Volvo S60 did not come with fog lights at the time. I was thinking about adding on a set. has anyone ever done this before? have you gone through Volvo or is there another reputable aftermarket brand you've used?

I have an '04 S60 2.5T and was curious about whether folks use 86 or 92/93 octane?? I've been using 86 since I bought the car and seems fine. Not even sure what the recommended octance is. Any thoughts.

I'm a 30 year old car enthusiast living in Belgium. My current car is a Peugeot 406 V6 3.0 but I'll be selling it soon...

Looking for a new car I visited Alfa-Romeo, Honda and did an extensive research on other makes on the Net. It was my girlfriend's idea to check volvo, and I'm glad I did. The moment I sat inside I knew the car is for me....

I'll test drive it next week, but its not the subject of this post...

I spoke to the dealer today and he said that the only difference between the old D5 (163 bhp) and the new one (185 bhp) is software, there were no mechanical upgrades. He offered me an 'old' D5 with an upgrade (which they make on their own) boosting the car's power to 212 bhp and 460 Nm of torque.

The idea sounds tempting but is this a good way to go? How does a modification like this affect the durability of the engine? Can the manual gearbox handle the torque?

I would very much appreciate your comments.

i have a s60 R the only problem besides turning radius is those brakes that sound like a 72 nova when i come to a stop other than that i love this car and continue to eat up 545's and a bunch of other cars alot more expensive
