I'm trying to set up the Volvo OnCall app on my iPhone. It asks for the registration number. Does anyone has any idea what it is ? I tried the chassis number to no avail.

has anyone else had issues staying connected? I've had two Blackberries and the first one I just figured was an older phone (if two years is an old phone) when it started disconnecting from the handsfree. But now my brand new blackberry is doing the same thing. The Blackberry folks say Volvos are known to have blue tooth module issues. Does anyone know anything about this?

I have a 2010 XC60 with full equiped 2nd fog tail light
(incl. bulb and cables) but it doesn´t work.
Switching to "left trafic" in light menue also doesn´t make it work.
Anybody same probelm ? or solution jet?

I've noticed other Euro cars with front fogs that illuminate when the car begins a turn then fade out once the car is moving straight forward. Can the XC60 fogs be programmed to do this?

Hello.

I am looking to install a dash cam, but I would like to do it in a semi-permanent way. In my 2012 XC60, I am only aware of a single power supply in the center console up front. I would like to install an additional power supply somewhere hidden either behind the glove compartment, or beneath it in that general area.

I would like to install the dash cam on my windshield in the top left corner of the passengers side area, just to the right of the central sensor area housing my rearview mirror. Running a wire to the glove box is pretty easy, hiding it behind the molding surrounding the windshield. The problem lies in where to draw power. Someone suggested that I just tap into the sensor area, but I'm not sure there's enough power there. I know I can power it from the supply in my center console, but installing a splitter there requires removing things that I am not sure I can figure out how to do without help.

Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe there's an even better source of power hidden somewhere else? Any help would be immensely appreciated.

My 2013 XC60 3.2 has an intermittent dashboard alert that tells me "car key removed from car" when the key FOB hasn't left the vehicle since it was started and the drivers door hasn't been opened again. Vehicle still runs, no other problems. From what I can determine the only commonalities with each time it has happened; the drivers door closes first, someone is in the front passenger seat, and my wife is in the car with her blackberry. Hi to all,on my last trip with a lot of rain i noticed that windscreen wipers made a lot of noise mostly at low speed.(Mostly at the up side of the windscreen)

My 2009 seems to have a very basic tech setup. It has Bluetooth and USB connections, but no entertainment screen (I think it is the Sensus system). It doesnt appear possible to stream music through the Bluetooth system....is this correct?

I have connected my iPhone4 via USB to play music, but it just shuffles aimlessly, I have no control over it.

Is there any work around/hack to get the system to play my music wirelessly?

After I turn off my XC60, there is a noise that comes from the rear underside of the vehicle.

It sounds like a fuel pump running?? It stops after a short time.

Any ideas.

This is just an FYI to share my experience with warranty replacement of rear pads and disks.

I have a 2010 XC60 3.2 FWD with 37,000 miles. In my opinion I could've gone a little longer on these pads, but it was worth the time thanks to the warranty.

Talking to the tech, I found that the xc60 (maybe other models too) brake more at the rear at a ratio of about 2:1.

Hello. Just purchased a 2010 with 44k XC 60 T6.

It's been back at the dealer over a week now with a leak in the roof. It leaks after rain, etc. I discovered the leak about a week after my purchase. (I'm assuming it wasn't a new leak, so curious on how long it has been happening.) They have tried cleaning a drain and a new windshield, with no luck.
1. Will this type of leak affect the inside of the car? I'm not sure how long it was going on, even if it gets fixed, will it have hurt the car long-term?

Also, the MPG seems low - it's about 18 average, with half highway/city.
2. Is that average for a T6?

Another question after reading some of the thoughts below this. The cabin does "creak" when going over more difficult roads. Is this normal? It reminds me of the comment below from the owner in Brazil.

I'm less than a month for my purchase, would a return be recommended? I purchased Volvo for reliability, so I wouldn't have to worry about this type of stuff. Any advice would be appreciated. I'm not sure what to believe.

Hi, Just back from Volvo garage having passed its MOT ! but advised my Rear Differential is leaking. I have a 2009 XC60 so a year out of warranty and £1200 bill quoted including all day labour for new part. Advised its a sealed unit which needs to be fitted? Have managed to get 40% discount off this price however still seems steep for my car, 1 owner and 54000 miles on clock. Anyone else know of this issue and whether this price appears reasonably? 2. Has anyone tried out the new Sensus Navigation? Is it any better than the old Navigation? pros/cons?
3. Dealer is also offering $695 tire warranty to cover tires and wheels. Worth it?

The dealer already has the car in stock, even though it is from the after 46 week batch which has the new Sensus Navigation.

I recently purchased a new XC60 R-Design Platinum. I absolutely love the car, it drives incredibly well and overall I am incredibly happy. However, I am a picky person, and have a few complaints about the vehicle. Rather than list them, I'll tackle them one at a time. My first complaint is the intermittent wiper system. I have had several cars in the past with intermittent wipers, and never had a problem with them. However, on my XC60 the wipers are very slow to turn on. It takes quite a bit of water on my windshield before they activate. I complained to the service department, but they say that everything looks normal. I asked if I could increase their sensitivity somehow, but they claim this is not possible. What should I do? Should I demand a replacement system, or is there in fact a way to adjust their sensitivity? I was thinking of making a video of how poor the rain sensors work, but so far I've been a bit lazy in this regard.

I used to own a CRV and it was set to unlock all doors when I put the shift on park. Now, with the XC60, it won't unlock automatically and I have to push twice the door handle to unlock the driver's door, but it is the only door it unlocks. Is there a way to configure the car in other to unlock all doors ? I'm not talking about of using the remote since I'm inside the car.

I have a 2012 Type R XC60 - love it! I don't love the Bluetooth implementation with my iPhone 4s. First, when it is paired with the car it disables sounds on the phone so you don't hear anything happening except when it rings. I cannot seem to stop this. When I switch to Bluetooth audio mode in the car, and listen to something from the iPhone, then I get all of the sounds - email coming in, notifications, etc. It doesn't appear that there is a way to make this work when listening to other audio sources in the car?

Also, the sound quality for hands free calls is terrible. Most of the time I can barely hear the other party because the audio is so garbled. Disconnecting from handsfree and putting the phone to my ear always resolves this. I did not have these issues with the same phone and my previous XC60.

It's going in for service next week so I am hoping that there are some upgrades installed. But can anyone comment on these issues? Thanks.

The auto down function on all 4 of the power windows has stopped working, however there was a two week period when they started working again. I live in northern Canada and they stopped working around -30 deg celsius and started working again when it warmed up to 0. I though it maybe a cold related issued however they have mysteriously stopped working again and its above 0. So that rules out my suspicions that its temp. related.

The other suspicion I have is that I had battery related issues earlier in the winter and have since replaced the battery. The dealership has said that this problem is most likely a draw coming from the radio when the car is shut off but they have an computer update for this and will do it next time I'm in (600 km away). Maybe this is related to the window switch issue?

Does anyone have any idea of what the problem is or a solution

Yesterday my wife went to unlock her door, pressed the button, and the switch sunk into the door handle!

Has anyone had an issue with the parking sensors when in reverse? Pulling forward it works on both the screen and beeping, but it only picks up when an object is really low, like a high curb. When in reverse, it isn't picking up any cars in the parking garage I come close to or even beeps when I'm right on top of it. I can't find any way to adjust them. Has anyone had anything similar? I don't enjoy my service dept at our local dealer so if I could figure out if I've just high expectations or can set something myself, that would be great. I had a 2007 S80 and both front and rear were much better and a life-saver!

I have a 2009 xc60 T6 and have noticed a loud whining/rubbing sound coming from the engine when the air conditioner is on. This sound is very intermittent and only lasts for 15-20 seconds. The sound stops if I turn the air conditioner off. The Volvo service department could not find the fault as this only happens once or twice every time I drive the car, very annoying.

Otherwise the car is great.
Has anyone experienced this noise, only started occurring after the 30k service. No noise was present prior to this.

Any advise would be great.

Just recently I have noticed some whining noise (not too loud) from the front end of my 2010 XC60 T6 AWD. The car has 8000km and only the premium gasoline is used. The noise started with the colder weather. When driving between 40 and 60 km/h I can hear some whining noise (not all the time) from the front end of my car. Above 60km/h the noise is gone. Again, I can hear this whining sound every other day, not all the time.
I was told that the T6 is a high-pressure turbo engine and that turbo is always on, unlike some other engines. Is this a turbo complaining about the cold weather or something else might be a problem?

Hello everyone - Newbie here. I am days away from signing a contract for a 2013 xc60 (my first volvo!!), but I'm still really hung up on whether or not to get a T6 or a 3.2. Is the T6 really worth the extra $2,000? We are a military couple living in Germany at the moment and we have to drive 40 minutes by autobahn to work every day. I'd love something zippy for the autobahn, but we won't be living in germany forever and with the price of gas going the way it is, mpg is very important. Also, we have a Chevy Tahoe V8 back in the states, so will that make up for the lack of the high powered engine in the XC60?

Does anyone have a 3.2 that regrets it? We can't test drive a T6 vs a 3.2, so I can't compare.

Proud new owner of a silver 2009 T6, love it. Very comfortable, powerful and sexy. Overall, very happy, but there is one thing that has me concerned....

When exiting the garage of my apartment, I need to take very sharp turns going down pretty steep ramps. When I do this, you could say the body almost twists and there is a very weird creaking noise. It seems to be coming from the middle of the undercarriage and only happens when going down the ramps, nothing when going up.

In Brazil there is no CarFax so I dont know if it has been in an accident, but there is no other evidence of one. Is this something I should be concerned about? Does anyone else get this noise?

I have a 2012 XC60 D5 auto Teknik and had a tow bar fitted by my local Volvo dealer some months ago. We are now considering buying a caravan and have started researching as I have never owned or towed a caravan before. I believe that caravans have something called a tow bar mass weight and that my car will also have a maximum tow bar mass weight allowed. After going through specs online I see that the standard tow bar mass weight for an XC60 D5 auto is listed as 150kg. Caravan dealers tell me that based on a 150kg tow bar mass weight limit, I should not go for any caravan with a tow bar mass weight of more than 120kg. This limits what we can look at.

I suppose I have a couple of questions. Firstly, am I correct with the weight limit for my XC60 and secondly, can you get a heavy duty tow bar fitted to the XC60 to give us a higher weight limit? Thanks for ant help you can give as I am a first time Volvo owner and a never before caravan owner.

Hello, I have a 3 month old XC60 AWD. Overall, very happy with car. The BLIS worked very well but about 3 weeks ago the right side light stays on 90% of the time. It is more distracting than helpful and I deactivate it. I brought the car to Volvo and they have had for 2 days. They called to say the diagnostics all came back fine and that the system is just oversensitive which they prefer to it not being sensitive enough. REALLY??? It wasn't over sensitive for the first 2 months. Grrr ... If you have BLIS how is it working?? ANyone else have this issue? Many thanks,

I'm in the market for an XC60. I am interested in either the base 3.2 engine or the 3.0 turbo (both in AWD).

The 3.2 is rated at 20 miles per gallon overall 18 city / 24 highway
The 3.0 is also rated at 20 miles per gallon overall however it drops a notch in each category 17 / 23
Both require Regualar gas

Can anyone clarify if this is accurate? The dealer told me they are the same but I almost find it hard to believe. I'm thinking it could be a rounding issue possibly? If I go to EPA's website, it comes up as both the same for either engine.

I was happy with the ride on the 3.2 but thought I'd rather get a strong engine if possible, but don't want to sacfrafice gas mileage, even 1 mile per gallon which will add over over time.

I would like to keep my side mirrors in their normal position when I'm parking my 2012 XC60. Currently, the mirrors tilt in the downward position showing the road and the curb. The problem is the view is way too low for my liking. I would like help figuring out how to adjust the amount of tilt so it stays that way in memory so every time I'm in reverse I don't have to adjust them manually. Not sure if this can be done but I'm open to suggestions.

Changed the oil for the first time on our XC60T6. The engine oil filter cartridge was easy to remove after taking the retaining clip off the power steering fluid reservoir and moving it up and inboard temporarily. Late in the afternoon, losing the sunlight, decided to change the fluids on the rest of the driveline some other time. Could not spot a dipstick for the transmission, nor drain plugs for the PTU and rear differential. Dealer said fill holes serve as the drain holes, therefore, need a suction pump to remove old oil to perform oil change on PTU and rear differential. There is no dipstick for the transmission. Last observation was noting Ford Motor Company stamped in some of the castings of the engine, etc., and made in Turkey, Spain, France on various components. Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get.

Just curious if anyone knows if I can change my regular headlamps to self leveling bi xenon.

I am a proud new owner of a Silver 2009 XC60 T6. It has all the bells and whistles, but where there would be a screen for gps etc, there is just a black piece of plastic. The dealer said that it was because Volvo didnt have a GPS system for Brasil when in came out. Anyways, I found a couple aftermarket in-dash systems, has anyone seen or used these?

We have an XC60 D5 AWD Xenium all "security" options of january 2012. There was a first bad defect with the engine which had to have the cylinder head replaced at 2500 km. But even worse, at about 6000 km, we had a sudden power steering failure right in the middle of a cross roads, big fright, no accident by magic. Volvo France wrote us that this is due to a "common place" alternator failure and that there is nothing to do but change the alternator. How can Volvo claim that a "common place" failure, be it of the alternator or other, can cause a power steering failure? Is it safe to have sudden power steering failure while driving a nearly 2t car? How can they still pretend they care about their cars being safe? We asked for a judiciary expertise, but Volvo lawyer is making any possible obstruction to it. Would someone have similar experience, with or without accident, and indicate what Volvo says in other countries ?

Hopefully somebody can help. I have a new XC60 and a HTC Rhyme. The cell phone works perfectly with the bluetooth connection when receiving and making calls. Unfortunately my car miss navigation so I use my cell phone, but the sound in the cell phone is turned off when connected to bluetooth. Only when receiving and making calls I hear the sound in the loudspeakers.

I would like to add heated seats to my 2012 XC60. Will dealers add this or should I let it go. Is there a list somewhere of what we can get a dealer to install. Next time I purchase a vehicle it will be OSD. I love my car but heated seats should be standard equipment except in lower florida.

I just returned from Europe this week after purchasing my 2013 Volvo XC60 T6 AWD through the Volvo Overseas Delivery Program. This is my second XC60 ( I own a 2010 XC60 T6 AWD) and my second trip (all expenses paid by Volvo) to the Volvo factory in Gothenburg Sweden. Not only do you get a huge discount by purchasing your Volvo direct from the factory this way but Volvo also pays for two round trip tickets (for you and someone else) to Sweden to visit the factory and to pick up your new car.

Volvo will pick you up from the airport when you arrive in Sweden and take you to the Radisson Blu Scandinavian Hotel. Since this is my second trip I got two free nights stay as a loyal Volvo owner. Rest up for the night and have free breakfast in the morning. The breakfast buffet is awesome. Volvo then sends a car for you to take you to the Volvo factory to see your new car. After some paper work, the technician will bring your car out to the showroom. He will thoroughly explain how everything works. You can take your car out onto the test track for a spin. Your local Volvo dealer will not tell you about this program for obvious reasons. But the dealer will help you with your purchase if you ask about this program. Talk to the manager in the showroom and let him know. Your dealer will also provide you with full warranty service maintenance as if you bought your car direct from the dealer.

I purchased the rear anti sway bar and end links from Viva Performance and am very pleased with the improved ride. My 2010 XC60 is so much more stable and safer feeling. I am a Miata driver (90 & 08) and appreciate a solid fee and control in the curves of the road. These anti sway bars should be standard to take away some of that top heavy feeling.

Recently while driving on a winding mountain road a car message "Active Bending Light Failure" popped up on the screen for about 1/2 a second. Since then, about 10 days, the ABLs are not moving. The message has not re-appeared. Anyone else run into this problem?

The car has only 21k miles on it, and is kept in good shape.

I'm looking around for the volvo child safety seats but apparently this is not approved here in australia.
does anyone else have recommendations for other child safety seats that work well with the xc 60?
