the 10A fuse keeps blowing on my driver door window which also knocks out the interior lights and alarm, there is a slight leek on the window and i suspect its the cause of the problem but wondered if this is common on a 53 plate c70.

It usually blows after i operate the drivers window, however the switch that operates all the windows still works and has never blown yet, any ideas? Thanks

Hi, I have just mover up to a a V70 after a long run of having 440s, and have found a few little quirks with the car.
Firstly when I get in the car first thing in the morning, I put the key in the ignition and it just spins around a few times before it bites! I cant imagine its meant to do that, but what would you say is the best remedy,
1/ give it some oil,
2/ clean it with brake cleaner,
3/ fit new ignition cylinder,
4/ or can it be stripped with out any special tools and serviced?

Secondly there is a fault somewhere on the LGI gas system, and I'm not total clear on how the system works. When you switch over to run on the gas, the petrol shuts off, is that right? or does it inject both the flues into the manifold together?

Hi folks--trying to get some info on a possible trailer hitch install on a 2008 C70. Basically, I want/need a small hitch to enable me to use a small bike rack (for two bikes)--looking for small/discrete type option so as not to mess up the clean lines of the car. Anybody do anything like this on your newer model C70? I'm trying to do some online research, but as you would expect, there just aren't a lot of people out there that put a hitch on this car (for obvious reasons). So, any help/suggestions are much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I am facing with vibration when I accelarate between 120-170km/h. It is wierd that after the vibration on the steering wheel dissapears. P.s. If I do not push the gas pedal between 120 and 170 there is no vibration at the steering wheel. What may cause this? Thank you.

I have just purchased a C70 Convertible 2005(Sept). From start to about 30MPH there is a lot of wheel shudder and suspension shake. The car has not been in an accident and Volvo tell me that this is expected from this model. It is almost that the wheels are not balanced nor aligned! Has anyone else experienced this and IS there a solution.

Just purchased c70 for my wife, and after only a week, she moved the passenger seat full forward, and there it stays. No power to any of the switches. I checked the overload relay, fuses, etc, but nothing??

Hi, I want to fit parking sensors into a 2002 C70 softtop and just wondered if anyone has any instructions for removing the rear bumper. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Where is the cabin filter on a C70 T5 and how do I change it?

We have a 2006 C70 T5. The car does not have the option where you can plug an MP3 player into the radio. I've been told that radio actually has a place for a plug-in. Any one know where it is, how to get at it, what needs to be done to use it?

We have a C70 with a cloth top.

For a 2003 model the top is wearing prematurely I would think....it has several places where the fabric is beginning to wear through. Especially on the last tall rib/bow just above the rear window on both corners/sides or the edges.

Would this be considered normal wear and tear for a cloth top or is it unusual please? The vehicle has 66k on the clock and has not been mistreated.

If this is unusual is it worth pursuring as a customer assistance issue from Volvo? If so can someone point me to the right channels or avenues to take please (such as Factory division service rep/distributor contact/phone/addresses, etc)?

One other top question. I am going to perform a decent detail job on the car, and have never owned a car with a cloth top.....can some of you folks on the forum suggest a good cleaner (even a good household remedy would do as I may start this weekend) and a good preservative for the top please?. I am pretty well versed on the interior (303 etc) and exterior (Klasse) products that I should use unless I can get some suggestions (if there on some products more suited for the Volvo) on those issues as well.

Hi everyone, thanks for reading and thanks for any input you guys have. I recently hooked up with HID light on my 2002 C70. They were very bright and nice on the factory headlight housing. Then I got into a minor accident and broke one headlight housing. I decided to order the ABM projector headlight assembly. I had the same guy who repaired the hood to drop the projector headlight assembly in. But the lights are now projecting in a weird pattern, unlike those other projector headlights you see from BMWs, acura, whatever. I have included a picture here. You guys can see how both projectors are projecting at an angle toward the right as you can see the sharp upward angle, instead of a level cutoff pattern horizontally like many projectors on many cars. Today I had my real merchanic adjusted the aiming, but at night when decided to drive, nothing was changed. I wonder if anyone knows why the lights are aiming in such a way and what could be done to change that. There were 2 screws(one on top and one sticking out) but when moving those 2 diffeent screws they did not change the cutoff angles, one screw seemed to adjust the bulb from shining left to right, the other screw seemed to adjust up and down. How do I make them so the cutoff is horizontal. Thanks.[attachmentid=4915]

Awaiting arrival of a new C70 T5 with all the whistles and bells except the high-end sound system, which for strange and inexplicable reasons I cannot fathom, will be missing. Apparantly I cannot pay for an upgrade, nor will Volvo fit the better system once I recieve the car...even if I pay in blood..nor can I order the Dynaudio speakers separately and have them fitted at the dealers.

After a month of scouring the internet I have not found a single string of help with regards to fitting an aftermarket radio nor of any adapters, interfaces nor of anyone who has done this. I really really need to upgrade but no one has any answers!

I would be most grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction.

I just purchased a 2004 C70 with 9K miles on it. It is WOW. The Audio system has a 3 CD Changer in the dash and a button for the optional 6 CD Changer. I would like to put in a 6 CD Changer, but one that will read MP3. I would also like it to be plug compatible with the Audio system in the car. Do i have to stay with what Volvo offers, or are there other changers out there that will work?

I have just bought a used 2001 C70 HT conv. and it's a joy to drive around here in CA!

My driveway is a low grade incline towards the road. When I park the car (front facing the house at a higher elevation to the road), transmission in Neutral, then setting the hand brake, shifting the transmission to park, the car rolls back a little bit and the rear passenger side rises slightly.

I have visually checked the discs and pads, they appear to be in good condition and there are no squeaking, pulling to one side when the brkes are applied during driving. The driveway while is an incline, is flat - so the rear pssgr wheel is not rolling over a hump.

Any ideas if the parking brake system (cables, linkage or hydraulics) may be faulty or is this normal? My understanding of parking brakes is that most cars have tha parking brakes set with the rear brakes only - not diagonally or w/ front brakes.

HELP!!! The top on my 2000 C70 is frozen about 5" from closed position. Back panel is locked in open position, straight up. I've check the owners manual, which gives instructions on how to manually open the top but nothing about how to close. I called 2 dealers neither could help me over the phone. Each said have it towed in. 3 Tow truck companies said they wouldn't take the car because of liability that the top is not secured.

Anyone else have this proble? I'm stuck between a rock and a hard thing!

I have 127K miles on my 2002 C70... just purchased it with no history. Thought it would be a good idea to change the transmissin fluid. This is a task I have never done... Does anyone know where any instructions can be found.

I've recently acquired a navy blue 998 C70 convertivble 2.5 litre turbo- a lovely automobile with only 60K miles. Its in great condition but with a few niggling challenges.

hello everyone.
my wife recently broke the passenger seat on our 1999 c70 and after having a look inside the seat i could not find any way of fixing it.
then yesterday whilst preparing the car for its MOT, i broke the drivers side seat.
luckily my children can still get through the gap however i would be grateful if anyone could supply me with a remedy for this problem, as its slightly inconvinient for anyone else who needs to get in the back of the car.

also, i hear it can be a common fault, but im getting a creaking from the front of the car when on full lock and trying to move away from a slow speed.i heard that something might have to be greased, but could anyone point me in the right direction as to what needs greasing?

Does anyone have any experience with their passenger no longer working electronically? If you got it fixed how much was the repair and what was the fix. Its not the fuse - unfortunately.

I recently had major service done at dealer, 105K miles. Timing belt replaced as well as front rotors and pads. Soon after I noticed a grinding or groaning noise coming from front end when braking the car just before coming to a full stop. I returned to dealer to have them check it out. They said they could not hear it and that it might be that the rotors just need time to seat. Is this just new rotors or could it be something more sinister? It doesn't sound good!

Neither the front nor the rear 12V auxillary power outlets are working in my 2002 C70 Convertible. Everything else electronic seems to functioning properly. Could it be a fuse? If so, where is it? Thanks!

hello to you all,my driver seat is looking a little bit worn so i thinking to redye the seats, has any body tried doing this where is the best place to get the dye i would like to keep to the same colour also is it ok to remove the front seat as it contains an air bag or should i replace. it is a well looked after c70 t5 con.

Just purchased a 2002 C70 Convertible. The owners manual shows where the Dip Stick to check the automatic transmission fluid is located... no Dip Stick.
I also checked my wifes 2004 XC90 and can't find the one with the yellow handle.

Do these cars have automatic transmission dip sticks?

Just purchased a 2002 C70 that has some problems. When I shift into Drive I hear and feel a substantial clunk... After inspecting the car, noticed the top motor mount is totally shot... all the rubber is out of the big center hole...

When shifting into drive, the engine really moves a lot... would this cause the clunk... have ordered a new mount.

My Rotors are running out, or ran out already. I am looking for replacements. I consider myself an agressive driver sometimes, so i need something for these moments when i am agressive. I was looking for Brembo rotors, but i didn't really find 302mm for both front and rear. I wanted the bigger rotors because they have larger contact area; therefore, more stopping power. i could only 302mm front rotors from Brembo. I was looking at Zemmermann, and differant companies. I want something good, i dont mind paying a bit more but not alot.
I heard alot of people talking about the Greenstuff Pads, since i need to change them with the rotors. I was looking for Ceramic, though. what do you guys think? any recommendations?

last night a valet guy slammed the door to the box that holds all of the keys on my key fob destroying the plastic. The battery falls out and the little retainer clip that you clip to your key chain broke too. Have you ever read those little stubs they give you? They won't pay for one. jerks...

Anyways if I buy one on eBay which they have a lot of them listed can I program it or do I have to go to the dealer and get one?

I rather be re-circumcised in a 3rd world country by a blind man while awake than give the Atlanta Volvo dealers any money. The are A- clowns. They tried to charge me $$ to hook up my car to the computer to see why it was stalling. They also curbed my car while pulling into the garage in front of me.

Hello 2001 volvo C70 2.4 t, 99 000 Km's, (60 000 miles), and my garage tells me my gearbox (man.)will have to be replaced. allways took care of it and never did crazy up or downshifting.. Isn't that way to soon? I thought volvo's were good and well built cars... in first, second, third and fourth, there is a metallic noise, going up and down with RPM. no matter what you do, nothing to be heard in fifth..can it be a spring from the clutch? dealer looked with all his mechanics, and they don't know what it is but they think it is coming from the gb. however, when we took some oil out, no metal parts in there, oil was dark but clean.do you have any idea's? difficult to say like this, I know but... I paid a lot of money for this car, and I love it, but i think this is my last volvo.. had 3 renaults before, no problem with them and I did over 250000 km's in each of them...
does somebody have an idea? please?

More on the 2002 C70 I just purchased. Discovered the pads under the carpet were totally soaked. I took out the seats and carpet to get at the pads. After allowing the pads to dry, I reinstalled everything... Now the SRS light comes on and will not go out.

One thing, I started the car to move it when the seats were removed... could that have sent a error code to the computer?

By the way, this car has side impact air bags built into the seats.

My friend tells me on some cars after so many starts, the computer will recognize there is no problem and the light will go off... is this just wishful thinking.

Hi - New to the forum but hopefully with some useful info - just managed to fix a problem: was out in the country and when returned to car the ignition key would not turn past position 1.

Luckily I had nearby access to the internet and somewhere on this forum someone had posted instructions on disassembling the steering column cover and removing the electrical module of the ignition system (top cover unclicks without any tools, bottom has three screws underneath, electical module has two screws).

With the key in the lock at position 1 (ie in the normal place - mechanical lock system on the right of the steering column - must be done to deactivate immobiliser) the car can be started by using a screwdriver to turn the barrel of the electical module (unscrewed form the left side of the steering column).

Not that size 20 anti-tamper screwdriver is required. I think the original article stated size 25.

NOW THE IMPORTANT BIT - Spoke to my local Volvo dealership and discovered the following: Replacement of the mechanical barrel including the electrical switch inside (all comes as a single module) costs around $700!! Easier fix: Buy some graphite powder, squirt some into the key lock barrel (difficult and very messy), put some ont he key and indsert and try to turn and eventually when you get enough graphite into the lock it unlocks!!!!!!

I have a C70 coupe with 225 X 40 X18 inch tires. Can I put 225 50s on as replacement?

i have a new steering lock and ignition barrel to fit and need to remove my steering wheel. In order to do this i have to undo an 18mm nut behind the airbag. Is anyone aware of the safe procedure to carry this out. This is a C70 2001 model.
