I recently purchased my 2006 C70 and have been loving it!

Just ran in to a bit of a snag tonight and am hoping someone will be able to offer help.

I am getting the following error meassge while trying to lower the roof "Roof Failure Service Required".

If anyone knows how to reset / correct this error, I would greatly appreciate it.

My dealer ship is closed until monday and I was hoping to use the convertible before then.

Hi All,

I have a 2000 C20 HPT coupe - using the standard alam/immobiliser than came with the car.

Now when I lock the car using the remote, the lock knobs both go down on the doors. However, when I pull the door handle on the passenger side, the door opens!! (and the alarm starts). Tried it on the drivers side but the door is really locked.

Tried locking the door and leaving it for a while but the passenger door can still be opened from the outside. Please help - I can't lock the passenger side of the car!

I am looking to change from 2 seater soft top to 4 seater so took out the new C70 for a test drive and am very impressed. Are there any issues I should be aware of before placing my order?

I have had my C70 for 3 years now and have had these lowering springs sitting around for about a year. I want to get them put on but I wasn't sure if I would need to get anything else other than just the springs to drop the car about 1.25".


Please let me know if anyone else has had this done to their ride and any suggestions or advices that would be helpful.

Hello Everyone... :-), can't seem to find where i should post this, so here goes...

I've got a '00 Volvo C70 2.0LPT, with ECU problems.
I've brought it to the Volvo Main Dealer, who reckons it may have been chiped or otherwise interfeered with, and reckons they cant read the ECU. There saying that i need a new ecu at the cost of hundreds of pouunds, just wondering if there is anything else i could be trying first..... Any help would be great... as i only have the car 5 days

just ordered silicon hoses,spark plugs and a cold air intake and now looking for instructions and suggestions on a boost gauge. No booost controller though, just want the gauge to monitor her runnin. All about preventative measures first , then it nothing but hp mods for there on out

I saw a post a little while ago, but now I can't find it. A guy was asking about a problem he was having refueling. I believe, that he said his tank was acting like it was full. He would try to pump gas, but the pump would stop, and he would top off even when his tank wasnt full.

Today I get gas, my tank was close to E. I starty fueling up, and the handled jumps off the notch as if my tanks full. I try again, same thing. So then I just try to stand there and hold it. But then I noticed gas pouring unto the ground from somewhere in the tire well. And I was topping of, but I KNOW my car didnt have any gas. SO I had to fuel slowly, then suddenly the problem went away. Once I'd pumped $10.00 in, I was able to place the handle back on the latch and it fueled normally.

Anyone know what this could be? I've got to be honest, this was the scariest thing to happen to me to date. I'm at a loss

i've just got my hands on a 1999 T5 GT and love it to bits but i do however miss my tunes from my Ipod. I have a FM transmitter which gives shite sound quality and want a better solution. Can someone please suggest a solution to help me out.....

I have a problem with my c70.When started from cold none of the electrics work,,AC,sunroof,radio,etc....When it warms up it all starts working fine,I have lived with this for a few years.But now on a really hot day,after about 15 minutes driving the AC cuts out.I have had it re gassed,and no leaks.IF i stop the car for about five minutes,then start again,the AC works fine for another 10 minutes.

Volvo Cars of North America sent a letter out regarding repair work on ETS systems for Volvo's between '99 and '01. If you have had work done, look for the letter in the mail or contact Volvo Customer Care Center.

When l drive over bumps it feels like l need shocks but when l asked my dealer they said my shocks were just fine.

Now l'm sure that they didn't take it out for a ride and l will have to go back and let them drive it with myself in the passenger seat.

If not the shocks then what, l have 55,000 miles and the turbo feels great and on the highway it's perfect.

My C70 has the 901 pro-logic stereo system. I have noticed that the sound from the unit is not up to par for the reviews I have seen. So, last night I discovered that the subwoofer in each door is not working and the center speaker sound is so light that it is almost undetechable. These speakers are not functioning on any of the three setting (norm, CH3, Pro-Logic). Could this be a amp issue, a wire connection issue at the deck or amp, or possibly a channel has gone out in the deck? Please advise.

My '98 C70 had the chronic symptoms of a failing ABS module. The ABS and Tracs light were coming on often with no rhyme or reason.

I had BBA Remanufacturing in South Dartmouth, MA rebuild the module. They emailed me a prepaid UPS shipping label, I dropped it in the nearest UPS dropbox, they rebuilt it and shipped it the same day that they received it. I reinstalled the module in 10-15 minutes and the lights are gone!

Total cost - $90 including shipping both ways. Lifetime warranty.

Now I'm thinking of buying Volvo C70 2.3 T5 176kW coupe version.
Manufactured in the year 2000, it has 72.000km (45.000 miles).
Leasing company took the car from the owner in the year 2002 and since then it has been in their garage. (4 years)

price is around $10.000 USD

car looks and sounds nice...


Now the question:
What do you think, is this a good deal ?

What should I pay attention on ?
What are the most common problems with that car/engine, turbo ?

If the car is without problems, can it work for 10-20.000 miles more without bigger problems ?

Does anyone know a safe way to debadge? I read in a forum that a guy used a hair dryer, has anyone here ever tried it? I dont want to ruin the adhesive, because I just misplaced the letters. So I'd be putting them right back on.

I got my 2001 C70 2.3L 2 weeks ago and installed a K&N air filter yesterday. The "Check Engine" light has come on today, and before getting the OBDII connected to reset it I wanted to ask for some imput appealing to your experience:

1) could the increased airflow trigger the light?
2) anyone have any feedback about these filters? the performance posts that modify intake systems say nothing about a check engine light coming on.

Oil:
I need to change the oil although it is pretty clear and looks OK. The mechanic recommended Mobil 1 but said to check if it used a synthetic.

1)If it did not use synthetic oil would the Mobil 1 not be recommended for a 64K mile car?

I want to put on the K&N oil filter as well. Any experience out there with these?

I have some passenger side wind noise coming from the top edge of the window. I also have noticed that when the door is closed fast the glass sometimes catches and pinches the gasket that is mounted on the car to seal the window. Even after I put the window down some and back up to make the seal properly there is still noise.
What can I do? I think the window is a bit misadjusted, is there a way to adjust the alignment of the window or the door a little to fix this? Any other solution? Please let me know, its driving me crazy.

How do you adjust the handbrake on the C70, as mine currenlty has to be pulled all the way to hold the car

3 days ago i have take my ecu and gone to a electronician to take out my eprom chip from my ECU board with heat gun( this operation is not true i think?) and take the eprom by the board we put that eprom to an adapter and took the file on it but the file inside the EPROM is damaged the first parts are true but the last parts of that file was crumbled we mounted the eprom again to the ecu and tried on car and it doesnt worked my ecu is still perfectly working (all functions are controlled it makes ignition ) but my eprom don't work the fuel rail is always empty because the eprom is dead ecu makes igniton ecu makes advances and retards and read maf and lambdas but eprom doesn't send fuel to the engine the bad thing is this car is not working and we have no original eprom file that causes there is no file to make the custom chip tuning on it can someone help me with some advices or the original eprom file of that ecu?

I need an electical/engineering degree! Preface: I've had some problems with the top lately and had to manually put it up and down a few times. The orignal problem was the top stopped going down mid-way.

Does anyone have instruction on how the motors should work? I need to know in what order what motors and gears do what. Right now the entire assembly starts to do it's thing but when it's time for the back deck lid to sit up it doesn't and I hear some little motors do some spinning.

As always, any help would be really appreciated.

Past couple of months the SRS light would flicker on for a couple of seconds and then go off. (not talking about when you start the car) The other night while I was driving it came on and stayed on. Is there a part that has a history of failure that will cause this? Sorry , have not had codes pulled yet.

I've seen clear headlight lenses for sale, they look like clear pieces that go on the front of the headlamp assembly somehow. Are these worth the money, or should I just invest in getting the whole headlamp assembly new?

I have read a few posts that say the clear lights from a 2004 C70 should fit any of the older model C70's (98'-02). But was wondering if anyone has really done this?

Anyone know for "sure" these would work on an older C70?

I've noticed that lately, when I step on the gas and engage the turbo fan, my temp light on the dash comes on. The little red radiator with the fan? It's on between gear shifts (mine is an auto), so it isnt on long. But I'm wondering if this sounds familiar to anyone. If it's a looming problem, or something simple to solve. I'm confused, any help is welcomed. thanks

I recently purchased a Garmin StreetPilot i5 and would like to have a hard wire a power source to it. It will be mounted to the wind shield on the left side of the rear view with the included suction cup mount. It works well there, not in obstructing my field of vision and is in a good spot to glance at for the directions while keeping my eyes on the road. After splicing into the power I will run the plug end out of the edge of the head liner to plug into the unit.

I need help identifying which wires I can splice to draw the power from. If someone could point me to the right color or give me an idea which would be best that would be a great help.

Okay, so I need shocks and struts, may also need a new timing belt. Noone is sure about the timing belt, everyone I take it to says that the belt MIGHT be loose. Are they trying to milk me, or should I go ahead cough up the 600 bux?

Im thinking about getting the ECU upgrade from IPD, guess the main thing I need to know is whether or not its a smart thing to do? Could I ruin my engine with a new ECU and increased HP? What are some risks. Thanks in advance.

I have a 2.3 T5 convertable and have no problems except a minor niggle. Occassionally when it starts, the revs go up and then it dies. Initially I though I'd flooded it and after a five minute wait, it might start on a second or third attempt.
I tried staying with one petrol outlet but the problem continued. I have since found that when this occurs, if I lock and unlock the car from the key fob, it always starts on the next attempt - I guess I'm resetting the electronics. Unfortunately, my dealer can't find the problem and now I want to sell it (my wife wants a horse box), I can't get anyone to take it seriously with a starting problem, I don't even get as far as explaining how simple the remedy is.
Anyone with a similar problem and fix ?

My ride is getting bumpier and bumpier by the day, so much so that my CD skips when I go over small bumps.

I need knew shocks and struts, can anyone advise me on the best type? I want a smooth ride, but still kind of stiff. Right now it feels like Im gonna shake my car apart. Thanks in advance.

Hi we're on our second volvo. We really like the cars for the way they feel out on the road and for there safety. Great cars!

Driving the car tonight, I noticed that the turn signal flasher went from working fine, and slowly faded away to nothing. The emerg flasher are also intermintent.
All bulbs are OK, I don't know where to look to find the flasher and or flasher relay to check them out. Anyone have ideas?

We recently purchased a 2000 C70.

We have been having a lot of rain here in the Bay Area, and have been finding water puddling on the passenger floor. At first we thought it must be a roof leak, but, there are no signs of water dripping down. The seat is not wet, I can't feel anything on the dashboard that's wet. It seems like it might be coming from underneath the dash, high up, maybe behind the dash.

A couple of other things to note.

When we leave it with the Recirculate switch on, it doesn't seem to do it. Not 100% sure this is true, because a couple of times when we started the next day, it had taken itself off of recirculate, and there was water.

And... yesterday I carefully soaked up all the water with towels. It did not rain last night, and, much to my amazement - there was the water again this morning puddling on the passenger side.

I am wondering if it's air conditioning condensation since we leave the A/C on (as advised in the manual).

Does anyone have any suggestions? We are taking it into a dealer for its 105K timing belt change, a general checkup, to have them troubleshoot this problem, and to get some other little things taken care of. I'd just like to hear if anyone has had a similar problem. Thanks all!

driver side front bumper is partially off - snapped most of it back on - went to dealer to find out costto replace - is there an after market bumper that I could install - is it possible to install this myself ... if so how?

Is there a way to change the shifter knob on the manual trans. c70. Other posts have said to screw it off, but i do not believe that is possible.

Also will a sparko knob work on this car?

Dose anyone know where to order the 9" subwoofers that go behind the rear seats. My C70 has the SC901 HU but not the subs or centre speaker. Would anyone know whether its pre-wired for the subs so I can fit them myself. I figured it would be easier to fit the stock subs with the current system.

I have a 98 C70 and i think one of the passenger side door speakers is blown.

Do you have to remove the door panel to get at the speaker, or can the cover just be removed? And how is this done?

Hello, I am new to this forum. Just bought a 98 C70 a few months ago. Running fine but a few weeks ago, the check engine light came on. I took it to a local repair shop and several hours later I was asked "who last filled my gas tank"? Apparently my daughter had failed to screw the cap on correctly and this caused the light to come on. The place charged me $80. Two days later the light came on again. I am taking it in next week again but need some advice. Could a gas cap not being screwed on properly do this? I feel that the original problem was not actually the loose cap but who knows? Just need someone to tell me if I should pursue another avenue here. This could get quite expensive! Thanks..
