Feature my ride Mark forum as read and return

I noticed yesterday that my temp guage is reading between 4 and 5 o'clock. It always read 3 o'clock. My heat is working fine and the coolant is full. Any ideas on what the problem could be? I'm guessing perhaps the thermostat is blocked open?

i have a sc816 in my 1999 c70 and just installed a blitsafe ipod connector - works great (i put the ipod in the rather useless cupholder slider, so it is out of sight). when i took the radio out i noticed that a cable was connected to the cd changer outlet - i guess this is just prewired. does anybody know where the cable goes to?

Hey...this is my first post, i was wondering if anyone new about why my center console doesnt light up. The shifter (P,R,N,D...etc) doesnt light up...makes it a little difficult in the dark....i checked both fuse boxes but i cant find the problem...any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! (year - 2001)

Hi there - looking for some help. We just bought a new Volvo C70 cab with 17" rims and now we would like to place our 16" snow tires from our prior C70 on our new car, but we aren't sure if they will fit as we read there could be issues with the brakes. Does anyone know if this could cause any problems? Thanks!

I have brought a C70 around 6 months ago and since then -

tracking/ balancing
o2 sensor
various diagnosics tests leading to;
replacement of air mass filter/unit 3 weeks ago.
ETM needs checking by volvo

and various other probs which I am not too concerned about, but are annoying nevertheless.

today the heater has refused to switch on, and the lights flash on the ecc unit. it makes a brrring noise then lights flash then remains off. Also it has a really rough idle when cold, and that was meant to be sorted by the air mass filter/unit.

any ideas?

I love the car, but it is driving me mad with all these faults!

PS car is a uk 2000 c70 t5

Hello, anybody come across a misfire when engine is cold giving a P0305 cylinder5 misfire code. If so how was it cured. Many thanks

hi there - we recently bought a used 1999 c70 coupe and i noticed a few burned out bulbs in the inside. one thing i don't know is: is the gear selector (P-R-N-D-L-3) on the center console supposed to be lighted?

I bought a pair of red LED lights to use as turn signals. 1157s. They fit fine, and they work fine, and they look great. I just hope they're legal...hmm.

But I notice that when I use my turn signals, they flash quicker now. Both the new LEDs in the front, and the bulbs in the rear. My friend told me that it happens because the LEDs take so little power to operate, that my electronics think that my lights aren't working. This will cause the signals to flash faster, so as to alert you that you have a light out.

Am I on the verge of screwing something up? I mean, if the car thinks my lights aren't working and flashes fast, wont that eventually ruin...something? I ask because Im thinking about replacing all of my rear bulbs with LEDs instead. I dont wanna blow the whole break light cluster. Thanks in advance

How do I remove the rear bottom seat cussioin in the C70 coupe?

hi again - on our 1999 c70 the temperature gauge takes a long time to get up even close to the 3 o'clock position (after about 10-15 miles it is not even halfway there)) and it takes just as long to get a halfway decent heat out of the ducts. could this be the thermostate or somehing else?

Hello All,

My daughters C70 has an intermittent speedometer failure. I connected a computer to the OBDC II connector and it spit out a code P0722. This code is a speed sensor no signal condition. The question is, which speed sensor? Are we talking about the speedometer sensor or the sensor on the transmission, or what? Does anyone have a clue and could possibly send me a picture of the sensor location? I don't want to waste money on the wrong sensor.

PS.............When the speedometer does fail it causes the ABS and Brake light to illuminate too.

Well I've done about 300 miles since I bought her and the starting seems to be going awry a bit...
On a cold start it takes a little longer than normal to fire the revs then sharply increase to about 1200 and rev between 1000-1200 for a few moments. The engine runs slightly rougher than normal. Then everything settles down and is A-OK. Warm starts or starts within an hour or so are fine.
Running on 95RON at the moment.

What you reckon?
Starting mixture?
Accellerator body (had one of these go before on another car which caused massively fluctuating revs even when warmed up)?
Nothing to worry about?

Greetings all: I'm new to the board as of today, just bought a 2005 C70 and I really wish it had Nav already! Was going to buy a portable unit that plugs into the 12V port when I discovered this Pioneer unit that says it fits any "Double-DIN" opening.

My C70 has the super-duper audio with center channel, Dolby, etc etc and I just wonder if anyone's done a retrofit like this. It would be awesome if it worked. Not so awesome if you end up losing certain of the audio features you now enjoy. Or if it didn't fit precisely ... I measured and it seems as though the factory audio system is slightly larger than the "Double-DIN" standard.

The AVIC-D2 provides full audio capabilities in addition to NAV.

What do you guys think? TIA.

Trying to troubleshoot a C70 SC-901 head unit (Radio/3CD/tape) and amp, which is currently producing only strange repeating 'burp' sound from all speakers.

Not sure if it is the HU or the power amp and would like to check outputs/inputs. Any pin-out info, particularly the 6 pin 'AMP' connector, would be appreciated.

When I engage reverse on my C70 2.3 manual transmission the light switch does not appear to be making full contact. I'd like to examine the switch but don't have a clue where it's located. Advice appreciated.

I have a C70 and when I pulled the hood latch release it broke. Need to get under the hood! Is there a way to release the hood to replace the cable? Thanks!

thge other day I was driving my c70 t5 on the highway at the speed of 260km/h. When I was passing 260 km/h the engine light blinked. It did not come on permanently, it just went off when I slow down the car. Why did the engine light blinked? Thanks guys.

Where is the cabin filter in a 98 C70 coupe. Is there a step by step description on changing the timing belt.

I am the new owner of a 2007 Volvo C70. At the time ordering, I was given the option, at no additional cost, of a tire sealing kit or a temporary spare. Based upon the salesperson's recommendation, and the space savings, I opted for the sealing kit.

Not until the car was delivered and I had the opportunity to read the Owner's Manual, did I learn that once a tire has been temporarily inflated with the tire sealing kit, it cannot be repaired and re-used and must be replaced. Requiring the replacement of a tire (or perhaps two to keep the ride balanced) for a simple nail hole, for example, would render the sealing kit a poor choice for me.

Beware of Volvo dealers trying to make an extra buck by pushing the sealant kit - my attempts to swap out this kit for the temporary spare have been futile - the dealer tells me his cost for the temporary is $500 and they will sell it to me for $250! How a no-cost option to the customer not even detailed on the sticker can be a $500 cost to the dealership is beyond my comprehension! The dealer's sales rep then had the gall to say he couldn't comment information in the owner's manual because he did not have access to it !!

hi there,sorry i have not not been on lately have started back to work to work after a year off,i am back on nights so its trying to work out a rotine,as you may no i have a c70 con. 2.3 t5 gt and my question is can you get a sporty exhaust for my car, i dont think that the exhaust that is on does not do the car proud,any info would be great,also what is the best tyres for my car as it is nearly due for the fronts to be replaced,at the moment i got continentals all round which i got no problem with that,but is there some think better i could br useing, any imput would be great.

I purchased a 1999 C70 a few months ago. Recently, the ABS light and even the Check Engine light have come on occasionally. With the lights on, I took the car to my local mechanic and the codes suggested that a speed sensor might have caused the lights to turn on but he did not have time to spend with the car at that time so he reset the lights and I took the car home. Since then I have driven the car for a week and the ABS light has come on a couple of times. Of course, when I took the car in for the appointment I had scheduled the warning light was not on and the mechanic found no codes stored in the memory.

Any ideas? Does this sound like the ABS module is going?

I have a C70 2.4 GT Auto and am trying to install a single din radio and have used the new iso block connecter to conect but the speakers are connected through a 8 or 9 pin lead probably through an amp.
What do I do now ?

I'm thinking of changing from the standard 225/45/17 tire size on my '98 C70 coupe to 235/40/17's.

Has anyone put 235's on? Any clearance issues?

Hello from a C70 and Volvo newb. Today I've put down the deposit on a 2000 C70 T5 coupe in silver and become a proud owner next week after having owned and enjoyed a Mazda MX3 for the past 6 years. I'm still reeling a bit because (in my opinion) it has cost top dollar at £7000 less p/x (which was bugger all really) but at 66K and condition = mint I hope I will be
Now to sort out that cover note...

I have a Volvo c70 and i am getting a clunking noise just as I reach full lock on the steering when I either turn left or right. Can one provide any assistance into what the problem may be, or what to check. Thanks in advance

we just bought a 1999 c70 coupe which has 205/55/16 continental contact ch95 on it. since this is not the original size i don't know what the correct tire pressure should be. does any body know it?

We just bought a 2004 C70 and are looking for a toddler seat. Does anyone have any experience with toddler seats in a C70 and/or recommendations? Are all C70 equipped with the European fixing system?

I have a C70 2005 reg and when I put the roof back up it makes this awful grinding/knocking noise when the front prongs go back into the holes on the front window. It has been into the dealer and they have fixed it several times including a new motor. But it keeps happening again and again.

Has anyone experienced this problem or know what it might be.

Hello, I'm new here and I'm from Bangkok, Thailand. I've been looking at a used C70 here and they say the car is a 2004, but from what I've read, the C70 only had 2-tone leather seats in the early production years. I could be wrong though, but I still don't think it's an 04 (maybe a 99).

Can you guys tell from the pictures maybe what year it is? Any styling queues etc? I'm not very knowledgable about the C70 so I would appreciate your help. Here is the website with some pictures of the car. Ignore some of the spelling mistakes, hehe like "compatible" etc... they also state 2500cc engine, but I was under the impression that the C70 never had a 2500cc engine.

Yes the price used is around 53,000USD. Consider yourself lucky to have access to cars so cheaply in the west. Food is cheap here in Thailand, but cars are not (a new C70 convertible costs over 125K USD!)

My son is shopping for a C-70. I have an V70XC but know nothing about the C-70. Is there anything he should specifically watch for. ie- bad years, problem areas. etc. Things to avoid? Do they make a stick shift C-70?

I got a wiring diagram DVD off Ebay to help work on the transmission in my '99 C70 that is in limp home mode. I know the transmission is an AW 50-42 but the diagrams refer to three different versions.

Fenix 5.2, MSA 15.7
Denso, ME7
and MSA 15.8 for late '99 models

What do these designations mean and how do I tell which one applies to my car which has a build date of 1/99?

I have a 99 c 70 and after changing the tcm and the input speed sensor I still have the cel and arrow i'm at my wits end. I changed the pnp switch, abs control unit and a sensor on the right of tranny by the firewall. somebody give a solution please I'm going broke!
