Just got in my car today and it just sort of clicks, like a ratchety sound all the lights go out when turned to the III position. can't figure it out.

I just got a replacement for my passenger window trim piece and I'm not sure what's the best way to get it on. Anybody tell me what the stock way or recommend me a good method? Thanks

Well tonight was the first time I ran her at the track where I live. Pulled a 14.8 out of it and was very happy with that. Mind you this is a bone stock C70

Arg this is so annoying, I just picked up my 2000 C70 LT 2D Turbo Coupe (not a convertable) and 2 days after buying it my window (drivers side) randomly stopped working - I can't figure out if it's the switch or the motor, but there's some kind of click on the inside of the door when I press the open button (pushing down on the button) on the window, but nothing happens when I press the close button (you know what i mean, pull it up rather than push it down) for the drivers window. However, the passenger window controls both work perfectly.

I started to take the panel off but it didn't "feel right", per say, so I stopped. I assume taking off the entire panel is the only way to get to the switches to see what's wrong? My dad used to own a 2000 V70R and encountered a similar problem with a fussy switch or two but he just took compressed air and aired it out... I don't think it's the same thing though.

I have a 2001 C70 Convertible and am having a problem with the SC-901 Dolby Pro Logic Stereo.

Let me preface this by saying am am not knowledgable about this stuff.

The problem started with the lower speaker on the passenger door sounding very distorted which I assumed I had blown the speaker.

Then the next time I turned the car on it sounded great. This kept happening sometimes it would sould fine and other times it would sound really bad.

I told the guy at Circuit City, and he said it wasn't a blown speaker because that would never get better. He suggested the problem was either the amp or the receiver, but could'nt tell me how to know which was the problem.

I think he is probably right about it not being the speaker because now the lower speaker on the Driver's side door sounds bad at times.

Also every once in a while the sound will intermittently get loud for a couple seconds without me touching the volume.

I'm thinking maybe the problem is the amp, but like I said I don't know much about this stuff.

I'd appreciate any advice or comments on what you think the problem is, as well as what to do.

I have a 2002 (2003 model) UK 52 reg C70 convertible (www.c70conv.co.uk) which is a great car btw...

Anyway, the other day was driving along with the roof down and went to press the button that closes all of the windows. Pressed it one way, nothing happened so assumed I was pressing it the wrong way, nothing, pressed it each way a couple of times (was in a confused-ish state as I was concentrating 90% on driving and 10% on windows with the radio up loud-ish) then realised I was pressing the internal central locking button instead (user error!)

Anyway, pressed the correct button, got all the windows down and carried on. Stopped down the road at the petrol station and pressed the button to open the flap and nothing. Thought to myself, get in the boot and there will be some way to open the flap. Pressed the boot release in the door and nothing happened. Pressing the door locking button in the door also has no effect. The electric window switches and electric mirrors all work fine.

Didn't think of it at the time but the boot release works from the remote control, so it is just from the driver's door where the problem lies.

Now, the story of pressing the wrong button may or may not have something to do with this (it is a couple of weeks since I used the car).

Any ideas? I have looked in the fuse box under the bonnet and pulled a few obvious fuses to check them and found no problems.

My boyfriend totaled his 2001 Volvo C-70 in 2005. When I was helping him move this past winter, we found the "never been used" wind screen in it's vinyl protective case in his garage (like this one: http://vparts.dealerfit.com/store/volvo-c7...od126_1174.php). He claims he bought it and maybe used it once before the car was totaled.

My question is: Where can I meet people interested in purchasing a "new" wind screen for an awesome deal (to get it out of my apartment, really)??? I joined this forum with the hopes of finding someone who would be interested but I have a feeling I may get shot for trying to sell stuff here???

I jsut had the timing belt changed on my Volvo c70. Now, the water float light is on. The light will not go off. The car has been driven for 100 miles to reset everything but this light is on. There is water in the radiator. Does it need to be reset or do I need a water pump?

When cd player is playing and bass is going the interior instrument panel lights and headlights blink along with the bass in any song and sometimes they dim like i'm turning down the interior light button. Is this due to the battery or is it something else.

I was driving to lunch and hit a DEEP pot hole in the road. It instantly flattened my tire and as i get out and look, found that it bent both inside and outside lips of the front wheel. I think I will be able to beat it back into place with a rubber mallet but if not then I will have to buy a new wheel for $386... Right now for the time being I am driving my Dad's Quest back and forth until I get the wheel fixed.

Can someone help me understand why my interior lights don't come on when the driver's door is opened but they do come on when the passenger door is opened? Is there a door switch that controls the cabin lighting or a relay somewhere? I can't locate any switch on the door.

Can any one help, just bought a 2nd hand c70 coupe. Seems that when i go above 40mph, and even more so when in the rain, a strange noise is coming from the sunroof? Could my car be posessed?!?!?!?

It comes from no fixed point and comes from different places around the sun roof. Sounds like a bird is tapping on the roof/sunroof, or some times like water is draining away?

Its driving me nuts!!!!!

Is there trapped water, or do i need to clean out drainage pipes, or am i just going mad!

My owners manual states that my C70 should be lubed with service but I can't find any zerk fittings and have a horrible creeking sound when turning. The guy at the jiffylube was totally confused and couldn't figur out how to lube the car.

Aside from slapping a wad of grease on the wheelstops to temporarily stop the grinding/creeking what does a lube for a C70 consist of and how do you do it?

I was wondering if anyone had more information on the rollover protection system (ROPS) on the early C70 convertible models (1998, 1999). Supposedly they have a pop-up roll bar and rollover activated seat belt pretensioners. Does anyone have any experience with this system? Any more information on it?

The window switches on both driver and passsenger side of my C70 work fine but are pitted and look like they have been put in an oven. (The remote side morror switch is the same as well as the a/c on/off switch. This may be due to the Australian summer temperatures. Has any one else had same problem?

Volvo parts are expensive in Australia but I have found two new switches (driver side and passenger side) on ebay. My question is are the swiches for left and right hand drive models the same.

I have 1998 Volvo C 70 HPT sometime during start up and after driving a while i here this clicking or ticking sound now i know it's not from low oil because just after i have had an oil change i can here it. I took it in to the dealer and he said that the oil pan gasket ring might be the problem or it may be lifters or the valves might need replacing but i would like to know for sure before spending $$$$$ and not fixing it right the first time any please help!

My Name is Laurence Henry and I just took delivery of a 2008 Volvo C70 Convertible Hardtop in MAgic Blue Metallic.

Upon receipt, I noticed Bubbles on the 2 Hard Top panels as well as the Trunk Lid. The service advisor told me that they are aware of the Problem and they have no present fix for it. He said if I replace the panels, the new ones will develop the same problem after a few opening and closing of the Hart Top.

Did any one else expeience this problem? And if so, how is your service advisor dealing with it?

Hi, all. I'm having a little bit of an issue with my 2004 C70. I just bought it from a dealer as a CPO car but this stuff does not appear to be covered. The lower driver side dash panel is falling down. This panel is about two plus feet wide and under the steering wheel. It is being held up on the right side just fine (by what, I don't know) but the left side closest to the driver is drooping. There appears to be a tab at the top that inserts into to a slot but it will not stay put. Any ideas on what might be wrong or how to fix it?

Well yesterday I came out of work and turned the car on and instantly got the Lamp out light on the dash. I got out and walked around and found that it is the passengerside headlight low beam.
I went to the autoparts and bought a new bulb, although the other still had a good fiiment in it, and replaced it. Still nothing. I have cycled the switch on and off, and high beams on and off and still nothing.
Is there seperate relays or fuses for each headlight? Everything esle is working.

Does anyone know how to adjust how high the windows go up? My drivers window needs to go up a fraction further to seal properly.

I have a problem with my 1999 C70, whereby I cannot release the drivers seat back (to flip it forward and allow passengers in and out of the back seats).

I have read the several threads covering this topic, but cannot figure out how I get at the release cables !!

If I lift the seat release lever on the side of the seat, it has tension on it and I can feel the cable running accross to the other side of the seat moving - so I guess that part is OK. Also, if I pull the orange handle accessible from the rear seats, this lifts the release lever in the side of the seat - so again I guess that part of the mechanism is working.

From this I figure out that the problem is the link between the release lever and the 'catch' below it on that side of the seat.

Although everyone appears to be saying that there is a 'Y' cable from the release lever, before reading this I found a small metal rod/wire underneath the seat, and figured this was a link between the lever and the catch - am I totally wrong here ? Is this from somewhere else ? (it is about 8 inches long and has a loop at each end, and is approximately as thick as a metal coat-hanger).

Either way, I need to be able to get at the mechanism / cables, and cannot find the 'loops' referred to which have to be cut to get the seat leather off / loosened.

Can somebody help me here ? I have spent ages looking at this, and so far can only find the cable running from one side to the other - which as I said appears OK.

Had my C70 D5 three months and average returned combined fuel economy only 31 mpg. Reported to my dealer several times but unable to find any problem. Previously owned S80 D5 and V70 D5 which provided averaged combined - 44mpg over the past 5 years with no probs. Also on extra-urban they both returned around 50 mpg but the new C70 only 36 mpg extra urban. Can anyone make any suggestions as to what the probs might be so I can discuss further with my dealer as at present they say that there is nothing wrong with the car.

Have confirmed now with dealer that the car is OK, and reduced mpg is because
of the extra power.

2000 C70 convertible - driver side window has cables on the front and back side that raise and lower the window. These cables have plastic wheels (mounted on a permanent axis) that are grooved for the cable to ride on for lowering and raising the window. One of the plastic wheels (back side of the window/door) broke in half. The window still works but makes a horrible noise from the cable being pulled over the axis that the plastic wheel rode on. Dealer says it will require an entire window regulator assembly - over $600 since the plastic wheel is not sold separately.

Anyone with experience or suggestions - please reply.

Hi everybody!

I was letting my son in the back seat last night (C70). I pulled up on the seat lever located on the side of the back of the seat. The seat went forward as usual. Now the seat will not go back. The lever will not allow me to bring the seatback to normal "up" position. The seatback in a 45 degrees angle position down to the "seat bottom". I found micro switch under seat bottom and when I press it the seat slides back and forth and up and down, but that is it.
I don't know where the latch of the seatback located so I can't depress it and unfold the seat. And also if someone knows how I can "unzip" the leather from the seatback to gain access to the back of the seat, latches, cables, etc. to fix this problem.

I just registered for this volvo forum as I am having an annoying problem. I currently (maybe not for long if these stupid problems keep arrising) own a 2001 C70 HT coupe. I was letting some friends in the back seat last week. I pulled up on the seat lever located on the side of the back of the seat. The seat went forward as usual. Now the seat will not go back. I read other forums and I can use the buttons on the side, but the lever will not allow me to bring the "seat back" to normal position. Any ideas?? Possible cable problem in seat back? If so any ideas how to access the "guts" of the seat back. Thanks

Hi all , Just thought I would show you all my latest toy, it's an Oris Touch screen multi media centre that plays DVD's MP3's, TV, Radio , the whole lot. Added to this I have installed a camera to the back of my car cos the visabilty is crap when the top is up. A Sat Nav box can be added too for £120 but I have no need for that as of yet.

The whole lot cost £300, and is probally the best thing I have done to the car yet.

The unit just slid straight in to the opening left by the standard radio, with just a small amount of packing underneath so not to see any gaps above.

The aeriel for the Tv is amplified with the power coming from the reg plate lights(always on), and is housed in the convertible hood cover as pictured.

The camera is powered via the reversing lights and automatically switches the screen to the camera image on selection of reverse gear, so you can see behind you instantly without having to do anything. I can now park within cm's of the object behind me without ever touching it, brilliant in car parks etc.

The only problem I encounted was the socket/lead for the speakers. I had to make a lead up to enable to get power to the amp so the speakers would work. This was done using a 9 pin plug, 4 RCA plugs and some patience.

Since I have found somebody else on the S60 forum who has posted pictures of his lead, so I'm in good company.

Anyway I would be intrested in any comments or questions anyone would like to make or ask, so fire away.

I am getting a whistling through the driver side window where it meets the trailing edge of the windscreen. Anybody have any ideas of the best way to eradicate this problem? Thanks a lot for your help, in advance.

I have a 1998 C70 2.3. It's a great car and I've had few problems with it. I've noticed lately that the engine temperature seems to be running hot. The gauge is showing the temperature on the high end of the "normal" range (about 3/4 of the way up). I've checked the oil and coolant and the levels are normal. This is my first Volvo and my first turbo charged car, so I'm thinking that maybe they just run hotter. Can anyone tell me if this is normal temperature range for a C70?

2000 C70 drivers seat electronics all work perfectly, but the seat won't fold forward with the lever on the side of the seat to get into the back. I have the seat out and the upholstery open when I can see inside the seat back. All cables are intact and moving properly on both sides, and I can see the cable ends have loops that hook over levers that are also moving. I can't see if these levers attach to a mechanical release or is this an electronic switch.

Do I need to remove the upholstery and is this something I can fix or will a shop have to tackle it.

My C70 stopped on me as I was driving. All of the lights came on and then the car turned off. I felt some weakness in the pull of the car when I put my foot on the gas earlier. It seemed as if the car was not fully energized. It kind of jerked and then it continued to run until it just stopped. It did keep running until I made it to my own driveway. It stopped and I could not get it to start again.
I may not be giving the best picture of this but I have no idea what is wrong with my car.

I have a 2001 C70. The rear glass separated from the top. Before I had a chance to have it repaired, my daughter tried to lower the top. It got stuck half open. I did manage to manually close it. Does anyone have any suggestions before I take it to the dealer? I've tried resetting it by unplugging the jack on the right side. Also disconected the battery. Still stops about one third thru the process. I did find someone to hot seal the rear window for 300.00. So far, so good. Thanks
