Brake Booster replacement:

First start by Disconnecting the Battery.

Then open the hood and remove the Upper torque mount cross member.

Next remove the Air filter housing.

The remove the Big Cover over the Relay/fuse panel under the hood.
Once the cover is off remove the 13mm nut for the Positive cable.

Then remove the 2 screws...

These are Volvo instructions.
Remove
The oil dipstick and its pipe.
The splashguard under the engine.

Drain the oil and remove the oil filter.
Release the oil cooler from the sump.Hang up at the rear.
Remove the screw from the bracket for the fuel line.


Removing the oil sump(oil pan)

Slacken off all screwsholding the oil sump.

1999 S80 T6

After the car is driven and up to full temp, if I park it and shut it off coolant will push out of the reservoir overflow at an alarming rate. I have to fill it up almost daily. Is this a thermostat problem? I know that many vehicles with main fill caps that are busted will push coolant out constantly, but I can't seem to find a fill cap anywhere besides the reservoir....

I have what I assume is a coolant leak, but I cannot find out where the link is occuring. I read other posts that indicated if the leak was pooling under the floor mats on either the driver or passenger side then it is probably a heater core issue, but I don't have any pooling inside the cabin. When I inspect the engine I can't seem to see any residue on the block or around the overflow...

I've noticed clunking noise from the engine when you stop and go, checked the upper engine mount and it's bad (cracked).
Called the dealer the part is 110$ Cad and 1.1 hour labor at 135$ per hour which ends around 280 dollars for this repair. I would like to replace it myself.

Somewhere down the road, a rock hit my passenger side headlight unit cracking it pretty badly. The unit still is in one piece, but come winter, I'm sure the water will leak in and cause problems.

Hi, I have annoying clunk w/ bumps on 2000 s80. It has 128K, at about 105 it got oem struts,, upper motor mount, timing belt/ idler/ water pump, all tie rods, spring seats and disc and brakes all around, and f&R sway bar links and a new right caliper as pads worn crooked and caliper was scraping inside of wheel.

I have a 99 s80. Does anyone know the procedure to remove the back seat including the bolsters on the side. I have the cushion off already but am having difficulty getting the side bolsters off then will need to unbolt and disconnect the back part of the seat.

Seeking advice concerning leaking oil drain plug caused by over tightening drain plug. Drain hole is apparently enlarged in oil pan. Currently have plug sealed with teflon tape. Need permanent fix with out replacing oil pan.

Passengers electric side mirror heater does not work when button pressed. Checked the manual and it seems that the mirror actuator runs through the same fuse and that works so any other ideas or has the heater element failed??

Hi I have recently purchased 2000 S80. I would like to use the telephone. I have inserted a new sim card (face up) in the slot. When I turn the phone on it only allows me to dial emergency call. I can not remove that from screen to unlock sim (menu 9) can anyone give me suggestions?

I have a 2002 s80 t6 with 130k on it that the battery keeps getting to low to start my car (rapid clicking) about every 2-3 weeks. I have tested the battery and it holds a charge and I took off the alternator to replace it but it tested “good”. No lights are being left on and this all started about 1.5 months ago.

How do you replace a front turn signal light assembly

Just got my 2001 S80 and I was wondering where to run the power wire for my amplifer. Since the battery is in the trunk already, is it a good idea to run the power wire directly from there? Or should I run it from the engine compartment leads back to the trunk?

I have a 2001 s80 with 60k miles. While traveling down a slightly bumby road or going over a bridge expansion joint I get a loud clunk from the front end, i think the right side. It feels like something is coming up through the floor on larger bumps. I had the sway bar links changed and this didn't help. I've been having some issues on my 2000 S80 with a smell that I can only describe as 'dirty' for the last few months and I am trying to see if anyone has anything similar.

I had the entire interior of the car detailed, I had the Volvo dealer use the cleaning agent that kills the microbes in the AC system, and replace the pollen/cabin filter.

wile fixing the top cover on dash, I tested the plug in there for power to hook up gps not knowing that the plug is for center speaker for sorraund sound system. After doing so must blown something cause radio dont go on and checked fuses and are ok, any ideas??

I was pretty gung-ho about buying a used S80 until I started reading this forum. After spending some time here I’m having second thoughts. I’ve been looking at 2004 & 2005’s. I've been leaning towards the T6.

My first question is, are they really that bad when it comes to reliability? Is this the kind of car you only want to own if it’s under warranty?

Im trying to install an after market deck in my 99 volvo s80 but there isnt a wiring harness made for that year. ive been told over and over again that i just have to rewire the system, but im not too sure as to which wires to rewire. i know its color coated, but the wires in the car are braided. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

The audio system in my S80 works fine with
store-bought CDs, but it cannot play burned audio CD.

The scenario is:

- Using Nero8
- normal Audio CD
- burn at 4x (the lowest rate my CR burner can burn)
- already finalized the CD
- Reliable CD brand (Imation CR-R)

What should I do to fix this problem?

Hello everyone. Was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem. Since the price of gas is getting unreal, I decided to check the locking lid to keep everyone honest. The 4 disc player in my '99 s80 no longer works. I found an HU-801 radio for sale on eBay. Can anyone tell me if the radio can be replaced with one from another vehicle? Well the car has now sprung it's 3rd coolant leak, and I am really, really annoyed at it. The coolant was originally leaking from the outlet pipe and this was repaired by a hose. Then I found that the top radiator hose had somehow gotten itself loose and was dripping some coolant, so this was then repaired. Now after a long country drive (and thankfully I got home) before the third leak...
