Feature my ride Mark forum as read and return

Has anyone used a mechanic in Auckland for their Volvo that they would recommend. I tried Archibald and Shorter but they're too expensive for my bank balance. I have a 2002 S60. Any suggestion will be welcomed. Thanks.

Hi there everybody.

We now have a New Zealand forum. I think this will be very handy as I tend to forget dates, times, appointments etc.

I hope we can list various events around the country in the forum. That way, possibly, we might turn up together or at least on the same day for our functions.

On the News this afternoon:

A Timaru doctor has been booked for driving while reading.

The doctor was this week fined $400 in Timaru District Court for careless driving, the Timaru Herald reported on Thursday.

Rosalind Antoinette Charmaine Allen-Narker was nabbed by police on August 28 driving from Timaru to Christchurch Airport while reading a book.

She admitted the offence, saying she had bought the book that morning and it was too good to put down.

She was pulled over by police driving her Fiat - registration DOC1 - after drivers reported her driving to police.

One said the car was drifting from side to side and its speed was fluctuating and another reported seeing her reading the book.

The title of the page-turner was not known.

Hi there everybody.

I went to the Big Boys Toys show yesterday.

I saw the personification of ambition with a guy trying to sell a V8 engine with a blower sticking out of the bonnet. The blower was highly polished and about the same size as a 20inch TV set. The visitor was an old guy leaning on a walking stick!!

The usual number of young chicks about 17 to 19 years of age were there peddling everything to everybody.

Boats, scale models of sailing ships, Ipods and various gadgets like that galore, a Russian army tank, Nissan and various makes of motor bikes there to boot.

The show finishes tomorrow. If you go to the show-front with $15.00 entry fee and $5.00 parking. I parked in Green Lane for free.

I have a Volvo S80 T6 1999 - I have to have new wiring put in to my car because of an error thats comes up all the time. For the DSTC. They tell me that it is about $2600.00 for this.

I donot think that the wiring new Volvos is good. They are a nice car but that all that i can say a about them.

My Volvo is scheduled for a service + cambelt replacement on the Thur 23rd Mar, hopefully it will be ready by Friday for me to bring it along to the meet.

Photography is actually one of my hobbies. One of the problems amateurs have with photography is how they actually photograph objects and people.

Usually with an amateur photographing a car-the car itself becomes a problem. Amateurs don't think before photographing the car. If the car is in the carport- that is where the photo is taken. If the sun is in the wrong place-who cares? Is the environment right? Photos taken of cars right next to a wall or fence is not all that appealing. Usually amateurs put too much into the frame. You get the car-the flower bed-the garden hose-the dog from next door, the broken window on the kitchen window etc-all in the photo of the car!!

Conversely, professional or trained photographers put very little into the photo. The less to see the better. The background forces you to view the car-nothing to distract you. The background contrasts rather than blends with the car.

As for the pix of my car-yes that is coming. I want to wax it a bit more and then get the new tyres. My existing ones will be replaced for the next WOF-probably about August.
