Does anyone know if a 1999 volvo v70 will continue to run once the vehicle is cranked on the alternator once you have taken the battery out of the circuit?

The car has 162,000 and from time to time blue smoke will come from exhuast
when cranked or sometimes sitting at red light.
I know about signs of turbo going out, but it's been doing this for about a year and I would think if the turbo is going out it would start smoking all the time?

1. where can I get a used or rebuilt turbo for a 98 s70 GLT.

I havent looked at the car yet but he said its spitting oil all over. I dont really know if the seals are ok to replace or if they fired the internals and everything else, trying to keep it easy and quick for him. Its still spooling but blowing oil so Im thinking I might be able to bust it down...

Has any here removed the head on a 2.4l turbo on a s70 glt ? how much labor is involved? also what kind of money we talking to rebuild the head, gaskets ect.

I recently found out #2 cyl has no compression, did a wet test , still same thing. what type of manual is the best to have, the haynes and chiltons are to general. anything else you guys use. i have 134k on it . runs like champ...

The other day I went through a big puddle & I got the ABS & brake lights and the dreaded flashing arrow on my 2k S70. It got stuck in W mode but just for a short time. The flashing arrow stayed on but I got it cleared & there were several other codes (?). The mechanic said it could have just gotten real wet and confused the computer - thus activating the arrow. OK for a few days...

Today the engine started making a loud rattle in the front of the engine, sounds like lifter rattle but the engine runs fine, oil pressure is fine, looking though the oil fill cap there is a lot of oil splashing around like it should, and the noise doesn't get any louder so I don't think it's cam follower related. Turning the A/C off doesn't make any difference. Any ideas?

I've just bought my first Volvo - a 1998 S70. I'm very impressed and happy with the car but it has a fault with the courtesy light in that it doesn't turn itself off when either the doors are closed or the engine is started?

I have a little oil leak from a pipe(been told it is a turbo related pipe),as you look down over the radiator its the top pipe to the left.Anyhow it has a very slight leak and need to know is this an easy replacement for me to do or does my car need to be garaged.

Hello Group, I just recently purchased this 99 v70 xc awd for my wife Marcia, and the trans fluid doesn't have that new look or smell. Trans works fine, but I wanted to flush & replace filter. Mechanic here says he can not find anything about a filter. Does anyone know more? Thanks. Jim

If I have someone in the vehicle pulling the release, I can then pop the hood, but if I pull the release, then go out to pop the hood, no dice. I've got a '98 V70. Fuse no. 6 (Siren alarm and lock) (20amp) keeps blowing every so often. This immobilises the vehicle (normally leaving my wife stranded somewhere). I change the fuse and everything works again and the car will start.

Any ideas on what could be causing it?

OBD on my 99 S80 T6 revealed code P1132 after check engine light came on. I have read in some places that there are 4 O2 sensors (2 front and 2 rear).

If that is true, do I need to change both front O2 sensors for this code?

had clicking noise coming from the rear. remove the caliper and find that the parking brake shoe was off. actually it is the brake material not the steel shoe. can i use adhesive to re-seat or must i replace the entire shoe?
