Has anyone here had to replace or knows how to remove the climate control panel to replace what seems to be one bulb? Left side lights up fine, center and right temp control does not light up.

Any help on how to remove this panel without doing damage would be greatly appreciated.

This is my first post here and i need some tech. help. I just installed an new timing belt, plugs and oil change on my 02 V70 T5. Tested car around the block- ran great, no faults. Drove to work the next day, again no problems. On the way home i accelerated hard to see how the pick up was. It pulled hard as usual but i got a check engine fault. Hooked up the ODBII and got a crank position sensor fault. Cleared the code, started car and no codes. On the way to work this morning, no codes, stopped for coffee, started car - check engine fault is back!
Could the belt have slipped during the hard accel.? Too much oil in the crankcase interfering with the sensor?
Any ideas?

I'm new to the forum and am looking for some help. I did a search here and on other sites and can't seem to find the answer to this.

I just bought a 2006 V70 2.4i manual. I got a smokin' deal and I love the car (although at this point I'd prefer the R, that might come later). I've also got a 2006 S40 which I love (that lead to me buying the V70).

Anyway, the auto lock feature is driving me crazy. In my S40 I can disable it thru the controls on the center stack radio interface. However I can't seem to find it on the V70. When I get out of the car I tend to drop my keys in my pocket. Then I try and open the back door to get my son out of the car and I have to fumble and find the correct key fob to unlock the doors again. It's a PITA especially since my wife and I swap cars back and forth and I can't get used to one car working one way and the other doing the opposite.

I read about dealer updates or something that can fix it. Is that seriously the only way? I've seen costs from $30 to $150 just to disable the damn thing. Seriously? Really? I called the guy at the dealer and he told me to call Volvo's 800 number. They were clueless.

Can anyone lead me in the right direction on this?

Hi, I just bought many parts to repair my 2001 V70 2.4T (I have to change the ECU and the wiring harness) so the guy sent me also a part called CEM that I have to replace to fit with the ECU... the problem is I just can't locate the old CEM... I tought it was under the dash (near the driver's door) but the part that I have there is quite different and I found it is called a CMA2 on a diagram.

Do I look at the wrong place? does the part I received is wrong? please help me, I've been waiting for 6 months to find an aftermarket part!!! I wish I can dive my volvo soon!

I had a replacement key provided to us recently from our local Volvo delaer when we purchased this used 2005 Volvo Xc70 last week. We were told the other key was lost or not turned in from the prior owner.

THE PROBLEM
The key locls/unlocks the car and starts and runs the car. My problem is that I cannot store the drivers seat/exterior mirror settings as does the other (orginal key).
Any ideas on what to do other than go back to the dealer. (a hassle on time and distance).

Has anyone else experienced or diagnosed this?

What happens is I'll be driving with the A/C on, and shut the car off when I get home. I come outside later to hear the heater/A/C fan running. If I key on and key off again, it seems to go away.

It's not a huge deal, but I'm afraid some day it will kill the battery.

Any input is appreciated.

The air conditioner / heater system in my 2004 XC70 developed a moldy odor during the summer months. Now, after four months of heater-only winter driving, it still smells! Any suggestions on the proper clean-out of the residual mold? And, how to prevent a recurrence?

My compressor is cutting out at speed, it will freeze you out of the car at idle up to 4500 rpm, as soon as I drive the car for a few miles it cuts out and will not come back in till the car is shut off and sits for a while, this would lead me to a pressure switch failing which I can not find! while the compressor is out the relay is energized, but the clutch doesn't engage possible failing temp sensor on the compressor? I don't have a wiring diagram so I'm not sure if this is a computer issue or the sequence of high low or temp. my low side pressure is 30 lbs at 4000 rpm. any help would be great. THX Chris

I have a 2004 V70R wagon. Great car all the way around except for the darn front bumper, it is just too close to the ground. This causes to problems:
1) when you park, you have to be really careful and not go over the parking blocks, if you do the front bumper gets caught when you try and back out. That causes the plastic to get pulled out of shape.
2) whenever I pull in or out of my driveway the bumper drags on the ground, getting all chewed up.

We already replaced the front bumper 2 times (once because the bumper got caught on a parking block and the whole thing ripped off when my wife backed out) and the second time becuase the car got vandalized. But the bumper is again deformed from getting caught.

Is there any solution to this other than being incredibly cautious or regularly replacing the front bumper?

I thought about somehow pulling up the under bumper lip as a fix but I don't want to destroy anything in the process...

Any suggestions?

I have a UK right hand drive Volvo and now live in France. I need to change the headlights, but they are very expensive. I have seen some that are for a XC70 2005 model, does anyone know if they will be ok for my xc70 2001

Does anyone know how or if possible to change passenger side fog light bulb?

I installed an Alpine head unit in my 2001 V70 T5 with new wire harness adapter. Radio works fine but now "SRS Airbag Needs Service" message came on. Did I disconnect something inadvertently or is this standard when disconnecting the radio harnesses? I checked my OBD2 codes and none stored. Did a reset anyway and no go on the airbag message-- it's still in the message center.

I took my car to get detailed yesterday and when I went to pick it up the driver's side window would not go up. The mirrors are not working from the control module, and only one of the back windows is working from the driver's side module. All of other control modules are functioning fine. It seems to change every time I turn the car on. Also, the locks are locking and unlocking at will.

Luckily no vagrant decided to sleep in my car or use it as an out house last night.

Are there any resets to try for a 2006 V70 T2.5?

I checked all fuses, nothing. Hmm

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I need to leave town early in the morning for a family emergency and a 13 hour drive with the window open is going to be poopy.

Hello There im a newbie to the forum so please excuse me if i do make a mistake, Ive just bought a Volvo V70 T5 X reg and the Check Engine light has just come on along with the message "Transmission Service required" the car does act strange somtimes as it revs to 3000 to change gears particularly gears 1-2 and at times it behaves and changes gears oddly, ive read through various forums aswel as this one and ive checked the topics, most people have considered changing the transmission oil, I took the car to a volv0 specialist and he checked the car for me and hes has pointed out that the check engine light + the service message is referring to a mechanical issue within the transmission. My question is has anyone had this problem and has it got any remedy? or has any1 changed the trans fluid and noticed any sort of difference? Ive also noticed that i am getting 12 MPG! for £25 worth of fuel could this be linked to the transmission problem?

I stupidly banged my head into the sunroof of my 2001 Volvo V70 T5 over the weekend. When I opened and closed the sunroof to check and make sure I didn't hurt it, it sliced off one of the levels of the plastic accordion pieces on the side and that piece doesn't push back with the sunroof anymore. Is that an easy part to replace? If so, what is it called and where could I get one?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi All,

I have a 2003 2.4T S with sports pack.

The drivers window poweres up and down with one click either way but the passenger window only powers down with one click.

You have to hold the button to power all the way back to the top.

My Wifes 2002 S60 2.4T SE has auto on both windows with one click.

Can I reset this at all manually, or is it a seperate option/dealer only?

The car will not start. The message "Engine System Service Urgent" shows up. The battery turns but the car doesn't start. My husband says its probably not getting any fuel. If that's the case what would be causing this problem. I had the ETM replaced about 87000 miles ago. I'm having it towed to my mechanic on Monday, but am looking for some ideas on what may be the problem. I no longer take it to a Volvo dealer because I felt they were always looking to fix more than what my initial problems were.

The fuel gauge on my 2001 V70 has stopped registering and at the same time my rear doors including the hatch have stopped automatically locking and unlocking. This has to be some kind of security/alarm feature, but I can't find anything on it. Anyone know? Will this have to be taken to the dealer to be reset or is there something I can do?

I"m planning on installing after market HID (xenon) lights on my wife's 2004 xc70. I bought the 50w ballast with 8000k bulb. Am I going to have any electrical issues? has anyone else done this?

I have a 2001 V70, which thankfully now is running beautifully at 92,000, after having replaced brakes,shocks,valve body in transmission, throttle body, timing belt, water pump,tires, AC compressor,motor mounts exhaust system, air filter, plugs, radiator fan,& fuel pump. Now I am going to drive her into the sunset,or 300,000 miles, or whichever comes first, and definitely will not replace with another Volvo now that Ford has replaced the best thing, the motor and god knows what else, which brings me to my point. At the top of the Forum, there is an ad for Cybert tire, which used to be a decent place, now run by crooks. I had to get hold of a Continental Extreme tire,as I run them and got my originals from Tire Rack who I always use. They were out and I needed one tire. They cost about $115 or so at Tire Rack. Cybert wanted $185. When I called back and he knew I was the same guy he said they were $250. With a bad attitude as well. Unbelievable crooks. Stay away. Order from Tire Rack and have them sent to your favorite garage to install.

This morning I tried to unlock the car with the power lock remote, only the front doors unlock. I get in the car, the fuel gage doesn't work either, can the problem be related to those big square fuses ? Because it seems that the regular fuses are OK.

"Bulb Failure Dipped Beam"

This message is coming up on my dash. Is it just a case of me having a light bulb out?

If so, how do I find out which bulb (left or right) it is? Both high beams work and parking lights work, but both low beams don't. Also, how easy is it to change a light bulb. Never done that before.

HELLO OUT THERE....MY WIFE OWNS A 2002 VOLVO V70 T5. IT CAME, FROM DEALER WITH A LITTLE BLACK BOX CONNECTED TO THE BATTERY. IT SAYS POWER MOTIVE, PROPERTY OF VOLVO PLEASE RETURN. WHAT IS IT? FOLKS AT VOLVO DEEL, WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR SAY THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS AND REFUSED TO REMOVE IT.

PROBLEM IS BATTTERY DIES ABOUT EVERY 4 MONTHS FOR NO APPARENT REASON. COULD IT BE THIS LITTLE BLACK BOX?

THAT IS HOW WE FOUND OUT THAT WAGON DESIGN IS WEIRD: WHEN THE BATTERY DIES THERE IS NO WAY TO OPEN REAR, TRUNK DOOR AND ACCES BATTERY,ONLY THROUGH BACK SIDE DOOORS, WHICH IS VERY, VERY INCONVENIENT.

Here is the issue I am having with my 06 V70.
Every time I fill up my gas tank the pump shuts of too late and the gas spills all over the place. It happens at all gas stations although some are worse then others. I've used the same gas stations before with a different car without any problems whatsoever.
I took my car to the dealer twice already. First time they said they cleaned some sensor. Which makes no sense since the car is off when I am pumping gas so I don’t see how a sensor can be involved (but what do I know). The next time they told me that the tube was disconnected (which happened after they tried to fix it the first time). I am taking my car back again.
I called Volvo and got no information from them other then a suggestion to go back to the dealer. But the person on the phone was really nice.
So I was wondering if anyone has any idea of what it could be.

I'm new to this forum, but have a recurrent problem needing advice...
Our 2002 XC70 transmission has been shaking in reverse - was rarely, now often.
Also seems to slip or rev high occasionally while accelerating.
We have had the softeare updated, and are now being told the entire tranny needs to be rebuilt....I have seen mention of a servo replacement instead...any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Car has 85K miles and seems too young for a failed transmission.

Volvo 2002 XC 70 - The passenger door lock and electric window works only intermittently. After I opened up the panel and removed the control board (the board complexity is actually quite amazing) and trying to clean up contact and reassemble I came to the conclusion that only an exchange will do.

I called two Volvo dealers in New York City and was told they did not have the part in stock. Go to go to the parts dept. order, pay for it and come back the day after. Two trips to the dealer and a $250.00 price tag. I thought ... (expletive). But if it is the price... even that hard to swallow then got to do it.

I still was trying to save myself one trip and decided to call the Volvo dealer in New Jersey closest to NYC. Been told the same thing (don't have it, order it, come back) but even if we did have it you still need software (yes you read it correctly !!) to be downloaded for the part to work and for this the car has to be hooked up to a computer... Call service. Thank you !

Hello Service: Well, yes part is $250.00 + labor $150.00. Total $400.00 to fix a broken locking door system and window opener !!! Are you kidding me !!!

As anyone a more justifiable expense to remedy to this problem. I cannot believe a software is actually needed to unlock a door and allow a window to open and close !

Hello Everyone! My dealer wants $350 for a new key and a new remote for a V70! Plus $100 to program the remote! Does any one know how to program these remotes? If I buy a remote on ebay or online can I program it to my car? Is it possible to program the remote myself? What tools or software do I need? And finally does my key or remote have a transponder in it? If anyone can answer any of these questions and point me in the right direction I would appreciate it!

I want to buy this plastic bracket part which holds the door and the spring for the fuel door.
I looked at it, but can't seem to figure out how to take it off the car and put the new one in.

i bought my son an 01 v70xc. he noticed that the right rear parking lamp was out. he found the correct bulb and replaced it. that wasn't the problem, it was a blown fuse.

we replaced the blown fuse and everything was fine for a few days, then when he shut the rear door with the car running (or the parking lights on). it would sometimes blow a fuse. this continued for a couple of weeks.

he brings it home and i am going to solve this problem, so i trace parking light circuits and all wires look great, expertly run and wrapped, nice workmanship.

i notice that the right rear license plate bulb is burned out when i see it at night.

i replace the bulb, and bang. it blows the circuit and the right rear parking lamp.

i took apart the rear door, and found that the wiring harness for the tag lights was run between the lock plate and the door, and when it was tightened it smashed and bent the wires. in fact there is a wire loom on top of the lock plate specifically for the wires, so i checked the wires and replaced them from where they were smashed to the license plate lights, ran them through the wiring looms instead of between the door and the lockplate. that was the problem. havent blown any fuses, or bulbs since.

Would anyone know if the passenger side door mirror glass from a 2000 model V70 will fit a 2001 model v70.

109,356 miles. There is a whine coming from the front of the engine by the belt/pulley area. It begins at start-up (cold or warm) and matches engine rpm. It does diminish as engine comes to operating temp. New timing belt about 10,000 miles ago. tensioner replaced at that time. original water pump and alternator. Runs fine, smooth with no drop off in power at speed.
Any thoughts on what to consider would be appreciated. thanks.
