have heard stories that aftermarket fitment of HIDs to the S40 will inturn 'fry' the ECU. So only the original HID kit (expensive) from Volvo can only be accpeted by the car.

Story is that after the install the HID will not lit, after reinstalling the OEM halogen bulbs, the car will not start. After a check, a replacement ECU would be required.

I have a 2005 s40 Turbo and when the a/c is on I can smell mold. I took it to the dealer and they said I had mold on the condensor and they unsure as to how to repair it. Is this a common problem?

Just wanted to ask if it is a smarter move to take your car back to the dealer for service, or just to have it serviced elsewhere. I've heard the Volvo is quite expensive. I bought extended warranty up to 60000 miles, but didn't know that regular service is separate above 30000 miles covered. I have about 43000 miles on my S40 at the moment.

Hi All, I bought the first series of Volvo 2004.5 T5 series when it came out. I am wondering if anyone knows whether Volvo is offering a bluetooth kit on the car. And if so, is it out? or where I can get one if it is not out. I recently bought a Escort 8500 X50 radar detector and the cord that it came with is a bit to short. Anyway Escort offers a hardwiring kit, where you tap into the fuse panel (wherever that is) and yeah, much better installation, alot cleaner.

I have an intermittent problem with the drivers seat belt. It won't pull out so I can use it. I have to play with it until it moves. I complained to Volvo, but they told me there was nothing they could do. It is a 2005 T5 AWD 6-speed manual

I just got my 2005 S40 2.4i in January and its odometer is approaching 3,500 miles. The first regular scheduled maintenance from Volvo is at 7,500 miles, but I'm wondering if I should be changing the oil now and at the half-way points between the scheduled maintenance intervals. The salesman recommended it, but I'd like to get more opinions.

I'm planning to install a complete multimedia system in my car but are unsure as to what I can install.

What I would like to install is 2 x headrest monitors with a dvd player and 2 x sunwiser monitors with rearview camera. I would like to have it install as if it is factory made.

I also don't want to cut into my headrest so I was thinking of getting replacement...

I have Volvo Cygnus Wheel's (16 x 6.5 w/ 52.5mm offset) and i was wondering if like 16x7 rims w/ +40 mm ( the website only says +40, doesn't give an exact number) offset will fit my tires. I was also wondering how big I can get my rims without having to get new tires, and whats the lowest or highest offset i can have.

I have a 2004 S40 2.4i SE, and the idle is very rattly. As soon as you put foot on throttle and give it little revs the rattle disappears.
Any ideas what this might be, if it's a problem?

I am a new member to the forum, I have had my 06 S40 T-5 for about 8 months. Really like it, but today when I tried to start it up, I got the error message: immobilizer, see manual. There is no info in the manual to help though.

I have noticed that the seats do not get that warm. I use to have a jetta and the seats got really warm, so much you would have to turn them to half power. Has any one noticed this and is there anything you can do to make them get warmer.
