I have just heard of an incident where the engine mounts on an S40
failed in high speed freeway traffic dropping the enigine onto the axil and
breaking it. Fortunately, no one got hurt. This mode of operations is supposed
to reserved for head on crashes. Are there other instances of this event, and
what sort of responsibilities might volvo have when such an unusual thing

Today my 2004.5 S40 completly lost all power steering assistance

It had a "power steering needs servicing " alert, but the alert is gone now..... still no power steering

Please help.... any ideas on cause?

Both fuses are good and the belt is good and not slipping

I have a 2005 S40 2.4i and I did notice a funny noise coming from the engine, most noticeable at idle. The noise come from a 2 inch vent identified with a circle on this picture.

I would like to say first sport style car, came from a Ford Ranger. Seems like the sound is a rotational hum that increases in intensity when the vehicle increases in speed. Seems to be coming from left front tire.
Vehicle tracks straight as an arrow when I let go of the wheel. and I am not receiving any abnormal vibration that would indicate a tire out of balance.

Person backed into my S40 and pushed in both doors. Body work is adequate but the paint does not match. The Volvo color is Metallic Safari Green (code 464). I don't know where the shop bought the paint, but it does not match. Anyone know of a reliable paint matching source?

Last summer on a trip to Ohio, if I set the cruise and kept the speed at just under 65, I could get 31 MPG on my 2005 T5 AWD V50. Gradually, since then, when I do any interstate driving, I track the mileage and it has crept down to where now I am lucky to get 26-27 mpg.

The car has 25K miles on it and my first thought was...air cleaner. I changed that, but still no improvement in mpg....

I have a 2005 S40 T5 with a climate system that allows separate temperatures for driver and passenger.
I have had this problem where the driver side vents blow out hot air (as hot as it can get, probably 85f) regardless of what the controls are set to (controls could be set to 60f and you will get cold air from the passenger side and hot hot air from the driver's side).

Just brought a 2006 S40 2.0D SE which has the performance sound system. I have read on various sites that this S40 can play MP3/WMA but when I burn my CD's with MP3's on and put them in my 6 CD Changer they just come up as "Unreadable"

After cleaning off my windshield during a snowstorm, I turned on my wipers and the drivers side wiper went past the windshield extending past the car. I went to change the clock on my 06 S40 today and it was not so simple. I turned the knob clockwise and nothing happened. I held it for some time and then all of a sudden it started to move forward quickly. I stopped at a point before I the correct time and could not get it to move again. What am I doing wrong? my wife currently has a medical condition that excempts her from wearing her seatbelt, can anyone advise how to disconnect the seatbelt reminder/chime, it drives her (and ME) crazy. Car is a brand new UK Spec V40 s (diesel)

Hey guys. Just thought I would register and ask you all a question about a S40 I have. We just picked it up the other day with the Premium Package, and Audio Package. Its flint gray with black leather. Its actually pretty nice. Well anyways, when I hold the unlock key down on the key fob, the windows wont roll down. We tried a 2004.5 S40 and the windows rolled down on that one but not on the 2005....

I just arrived home and pressed the button on my key to lock the doors on my 06 S40. As soon as I pressed the button the alarm started going off and would not stop.

I pressed every button on that key! I even put the key in the ignition and started the car. The alarm still wouldn't stop.

It would cycle by going off for about 20-30 seconds then quit for about 10...

It seems the memory feature on my mirors on my 2006 S40 T5 with premium package does not work. I took the car in today to have them checked and was told the car does not have memory mirrors. Hi... just purchased the PPC and it is not installing. I followed procedure but I get a please wait message and no progress. I synchronized the PPC with the BSR server and I get the message of "unable to determine ECU type". Has anyone had this happen? Bo Engstrom is looking into it but I thought maybe someon had already gone through this.

just wondering if anyone knew if the gps antenna fin on top of car is hardwire to the dash somewhere or anywhere else, i would like to hook my GPS to that antenna instead of having in suction cup to my winshield, i would assume it would get better reception from the top antenna

WHERE IS THE CABIN AIR FILTER ON 2004+ S40 T5? HOW DO I REPLACE IT?

What's the best method that people have used to install satellite radio in their 2005 Volvo S40? Since there is no aux input jack and no antenna wire, I'm kind of limited. Any ideas? I see Sirius has the FM Extender Antenna (FEA) that brings the Sirius radio output closer to the vehicle antenna but that seems to be the best I can find.

Everytime I have the dealer check it, they tell me that it is because of my gas cap. I always make sure that it is on tight, but the light still comes on.
