I wanted to get bluetooth in my car but i found it to be very expensive. I wat the one that goes through all the speakers. My uncle a volvo salesman says it costs a *** load to get it wired. Are there any alteratives to my need for bluetooth?

Howdy folks. I am installing a high end audio system in the s40 that I am currently shopping for (taking my time, I want the right one).

My question is regarding the OEM head unit. Does that also display heat settings, etc or just the radio?

Also, can I switch out just the OEM screen or does the new unit need to be double din?

I have just recently purchaesd the auto D5 and we find it a terrific vehicle.... economical and swift.
My question concerns the power output for this model.

Apparently this motor in any other model produces 400Nm whereas the S40 5 speed auto version is restricted to 350Nm. (the upcoming 6 speed manual will use the full 400Nm version).

My guess is the 5 speed auto is...

Are there any way to link the side mirror lights -that lights up when you press the yellow button on key- with doors? When doors are opened, the lamps ligths up?

And with the lock system? When unlocked the car, the lamps lights up, are there a way to done this with software?

I found a trick to activate a hidden menu in the front of the steering wheel screen. I don't remember how to activate it. I remember I pressed the rear fog lights button and another button while the ignition switch was in position I or II.
Does anyone know about this trick or how I can do it again?

We have had this car for less than a year and my key fob is about to break at the base from twisting in the ignition.

Does anyone know what it should approximately cost to get a new key fob complete with coding for my car?

This may sound odd, but, ss there some kind of cap that can be put on the fob to better protect it from the elements, being in your pocket, etc?

Recently purchased an 04 s40 T5 and today the check engine light came on and then the engine was making a high pitched howling noise, more noticable outside the vehicle. upon inspecting the engine, discovered that the sound goes away when the dip stick is out.

Sounds exactly the same as below.

did anyone else have problems with there speaker rattling? my back door speaker rattles. But the thing is that i switched the speaker wires in the amp and then the other back door speakers rattled. so i conclude there must be a bad channel in the amp. has anyone else have this happen to them? if so how do i fix it?

Does the retrofit (Volvo Hands Free with Bluetooth) allow you to use the existing steering wheel control buttons and center key pad buttons? Or are you only able to dial phone numbers by pressing the big blue button and then using voice command?

I just got my wife a 2006 S40 T5 AWD and I was wondering if its worth it to put in a drop in K&N filter. I saw that it is a pain to do but I was wondering if its worth it or to ust to an intake.

Hello everyone, I bought my first Volvo recently and enjoy the car. Seem to have a problem with master power windows control. Car is an S40 2006 with 18,000 miles. Sometimes windows will not go up or down, but 10 minutes later the unit will work. Power window switches on individual doors do work all the time. Is this a problem with this model? Hey everyone! I've got a 2005 S40, and it appears that I have puddle lights under my side mirrors. But the bulbs are burnt out, and I'm not sure how to get to the bulbs to change them.

I have had my S40, 18,000 miles, regular engine with standard 6 speed transmission for several weeks now. I am not sure of what is normal sounds for the car. It seems to me that the noise is primarily from the transmission. I would think that this car would be more quiet. Any responses from owners with manual transmission would be appreciated.

Hello, I have 2004.5 S40 and I bought a sound system for it ( two 12'' subs and 1200 watt amp) I took it to best buy to get it installed and they said they cannot install it because the radio is digital and the line output converters cannot convert digital into analog to make it work. Is this true? Can you put a sound system in it?

On a 2006 S40 T5, Its normal that when you first start the engine this goes up to 1,400 RPM for less than a minute and then move down by itself to around 800 RPM ?
