Ok the dealer said that my suspension sway bar/bushings needed replacement ($430 quote). The bushings are rubber, I understand that they would wear down over time. He stated that the car is pulling left a bit and it could be an axel problem, could be suspension sway bar/bushing, etc. BTW, the car is making no noises in regards to the suspension. I'm thinking this is an early sign but...

I was just wondering if anyone has the Air Intake System from Eurosport Tuning? I was thinking it might make more power because the factory air-box seems to be restrictive. I figure turbo cars suck a lot of air so a more open filter system might increase performance. It looks really nice in the picture too.

I have a 1999 S40 1.8 GDI & want to replace the thermostat as I'm not getting very much heat even with the temperature setting on max.

Please can someone advise where the thermostat is located on the S40 GDI or better still post a pic if possible?

I have just bought a 98 S40 1.8. got it home and parked it up and noticed the RH indicator wont go out. Did a little investigation and it doesnt go out when i take out any of the fuses labeled LIGHT or LAMP, and also doesnt go out when i remove any relays. just stays on. solid. constant.

Any ideas?!?!

our shop purchased a s40 that was hit in the right front corner, no frame damage. We fixed her all up and replaced the diriver air bag then we went to turn off the airbag light at the dealer and we could not cause there were some hard codes that didnt reset.
pass side seat belt tensioner
pass and driv seat belt buckles
pass and driv side air bags
left front side impact...

Anyone ever have a P1500 check engine code? It says Camshaft Position Actuator B- Bank 1 timing over retard.

The only thing I can think of is a bad VVT solenoid ?

Got my car stuck in the snow today. By the time I rocked it out, the check engine light came up with the transmission up arrow blinking. It's running fine -- I'm sure I just triggered something while trying to get it out and spinning the tires.

However, it's not shutting off.

Any suggestions?

My 2001 will start consistently, but only after I pump the gas pedal when trying to start the car.

I have read on the forum about the "switch" located in the trunk and also about the fuel pressure regulator. Which option would be the best one to look into for my problem.

I am currently leaning more towards the fuel regulator at this point.

the big end bearings have almost gone on the volvo. it's clattering rather badly. barley used it apart from a two min trip from a local garage for a quote. they said since the bearings were so bad the crank should be damamged so it's a new engine job. going to try and replace the bearings with new ones sunday but if there's any obvious signs to look for so i know not to bother then...

I have one blown out bulb above the rear license plate. I am some what technically inclined, but cannot figure out how to replace this bulb. My guess is to enter through the back of the trunk lid, but not sure how to remove the "insulation/felt" covering.

I have got oil leaking from the rear of my S40 2.0S non turbo engine and it looks like something is missing from a hole (approx. 20-25mm dia) positioned just below the exhaust manifold. has anyone got any ideas what could be missing?

I am working on replacing the Fuel Door lock motor for a 2000 S40 and running into trouble. I have located in the trunk where to replace the motor, but it looks like I need to pull out the atenna. How do I go about this? I see where there is one bolt to remove but concerned there is more and what to do with the atenna piece outside of the car. Please Help.

From what I see online, the thermostat is NOT the same as the cap that closes the coolant reservoir. I am referring to the black cap that is located as close as you can get to the passenger within the engine...

I am looking for a part for my 1999 S40.
I need to replace the front bumper and Bumper support bar, both of which I have.
There is also another part I need but don’t know what it is called.
There is a plastic part that sits between the bumper and bumper bar, and seems to hold them together. There is a long strip of foam inside of it.

Has anyone had the following issue, I have no side lights working (parking lights)
All the rest of my lights work fine headlights indicators daytime running lights.

When I turn the switch to position 1 I do not get any lighting checked fuses, switch replaced bulbs all checked.

Can someone please shed some light on this

Sorry for the title I dont know what they are called! I have 4 amber oblong lights and only 3 work the drivers side light doesnt work. I'm just asking would I have to remove the whole bumper to access this light? Or does it just pop out? My car is a Volvo S40 1.6i V reg 2000.

My 96 s40 is having a problem with its hood. The handle for poping the hood doest do anything anymore.
It seems the wire is broken or jumped out of its place. (this might have happened when I drove of a 30cm edge by accident and the bottom of the car hit the edge.)

So i need to open it to see if I can repair it and to refill the "cleaning fluid"...

The transmission of my volvo at 60 mph slipped and engine light came on but the car runs fine. After that I still get this "slipping"(kind of single limp) every time I reach 50 or 60 mph

if i hook up a tweeter to the door conection it works there

but the door speakers wont play any music no matter where they are connected
