My Volvo 440 just stopped,it had been running fine, checked spark no spark at plugs but plugs are wet. Changed coil distributor cap tried 3 crankshaft sensors now volvo man tells me it could be component behind coil, could it be ecu.... Help

I've been doing some idle net surfing and found out that the Volvo 440 GL and GLT were the only 400 series models sold in Oz.

The 440 GL/GLT came with the 2.0 litre F series Renault engine with a bore and stroke of 82.70 x 93.00 respectively.

The 400 series turbo has a bore and stroke 81.00 x 83.50.

I have a M plated 440 glt, just bought it second hand. The rear central locking dosnt work. Have checked the fuses and they are ok. Looked at the relays but dont know which is what and there's no plan to tell me what is what, haynes manual useless. Any help will be much appreciated.

I have just replaced both discs and pads on the front of my 440 GS 1.9TD and upon inspection both the calipers have locked dampers (I would imagine that's what they're called, the 2 bolts that slide in & out and have another 2 bolts that hold the piston housing onto the caliper, go into them), therefore resulting in my brakes binding, especially the right side which gets so hot after...

I have quite a few problems with a 1994 Volvo 460 1.8L

- When hot, the engine sometimes does not start up

- the ABS light is on almost always, when I press the brakes while starting the car it goes off but the car makes some weird noise at random, it sounds like the ABS while breaking but it doesn't actually brake

- When idle, the RPM go up...

My 440 1.8Si is now running again with a new alternator and battery.

When it broke down a week ago it had half a tank of petrol. Now the fuel light is on, and the needle on the gauge does not move at all. The temperature gauge seems to be working though.

What should I be checking, as I know there is half a tank of petrol in there!

My 1994 440 1.8si idles quite unevenly, and has quite poor fuel economy. From reading around I believe I should be checking/replacing the oxygen sensor.

But... where is it? The haynes manual I have isn't really much help, as I don't really know what I'm looking for, or exactly where it is!!

ive a 93 440xi, not long since bought. ive noticed water coming in the boot on both sides of the side flanks. some was dripping down the aerial so i siliconed it up but its still coming in, especially on the other side where its not coming down the aerial.
also i took all the boot trim out and noriced something i was curious about. just above boot level on both sides of the reat boot panel...

hmm let me see, my volvo ran fine, till i put in tank 95 benzin, before i used 100. At first, the car started to stall in low rpms, and i heard a bang in exhaust (missfire). I checked all, replaced sparks, replaced spark plugs, air filter, idle valve and it isnt any good.

Hi all, I have had my Volvo 440 1.8 si for about a year. The problem is that the battery will discharge overnight and within 20 minutes or so of me parking up. The battery is new as is the starter and alternator. I have run an amp tester across the negative trminal of the battery and an earth. The tester is showing a 4.5 amp current flow.
