Dear All,

Experiencing wind noises at 140kmh on my V50T5. Is that normal? The V50 sold in Malaysia is a CKD version (Complete Knock Down) aka assembled in Malaysia....

Anyone experience similiar problem. Can this be rectified?

I finally got around to doing a good wax job on my 2006 V50. In my overenthousiasm I was a bit sloppy and got wax all over the black trim all around the car. The car is RED, so it looks great with the contrasting black trim.... not so much when the black trim has white streaks all over it though.

Unfortunately I let it dry and it would not just rub off and I was NOT going to start...

I have bought a used v50 about a month ago. Occasionally I started to hear a strange 3 to 5 sec long sound coming from somewhere in or around the house. Originally I thought it was an electronic devise like a mobile phone running out of battery or power. But after two weeks I discovered it was the Volvo V50! It is very hard to describe the sound but it reminds me vaguely of a faint...

Has any one had a similar issue?
I get a high pitched noise from the rear of the car..smilar to air escaping under presure. V50 is under warranty and so far they have changed the fuel inlet pipes but that has not worked. The noise lasts for 3-10 seconds and happens at random times....sometimes on closing the tailgate, other times at 3am in the morning.

I have a problem with my V50 , 2.0 LTR Diesel, Fuel consumption has gone from 6.5ltr per 100km to 8.8 per 100km also the car is sometimes really hard to start., the car starts to run but wont idle lots of black smoke wnen it does start.

My 2005 V50 wagon served perfectly for two years. Then in July my wife hit a pothole in Manhattan and cracked the oil pan. It was replaced at a Volvo dealer (for $1250!). Now in November it has cracked again, but this time with no event we can think of to cause it.

This has me questioning if this is a design problem. Anyone else out there having oil pan breakage like this?

A couple of days ago while driving my 2005 V50 volvo on the motorway (wife & two kids plus a fifth passenger also riding) the vehicle lost its speed almost completely without warning and the engine stalled. A few seconds later the car following us (average speed of 100kms) hit us hard. It was quite a nusty shake, thank god we are ok.

Took the car to the locall dealer, he said no...

Hi, I've owned a 2005 V50 2.0D SE (in Europe) for 3 years now - a few months ago the car developed a problem where the engine would go into "emergency mode" and would not go over 2000RPM's.

After taking it to a local Volvo dealership 3 times they finally seem to have spotted the problem and replaced a temperature sensor in the particle filter. I am still a bit baffled...

i was just reading in the manual that "Your vehicle has no recommended tire rotation." so does this mean I should never rotate my tires? that seems a bit unbelievable... how often should i rotate my tires?

At random times the locking system does not respond to the remote key. Sometimes it fails to lock. At other times it fails to open. Sometimes the locks on one side of the car lock or open but the other side does not respond. Also, occasionally the windows will not open or close in response to the controls from inside the car.

These events are fairly rare, perhaps once or twice a week....

I have a 2008 V50 with German radio. I was wondering if someone knows where I can find an English manual online. I.e. PDF, .doc..

Im mainly looking for information on the menu structure of the radio so I can work my way around and understand the setting better.

so this has happened twice since I got my car (08 2.4i V50) a few weeks ago.

Basically right after I start the car I drop it into D or Reverse and my steering gets really tight, then i get a message on my dash that says Power Steering Service Needed.

I've got a few problems with my V50 Diesel Sport.
Rear doors sometimes don't unlock when the auto lock comes on. Mainly on one door.
Problems engaging gears, 2 3 and 4th. Grinds then engages with a push.
Radio won't release CDs on occasion.
Any help would be good.

I have a problem. I don't know which carradio I have!!
How can I see that? I have a V50 2.0D Momentum from 10/04. When I switch on the radio I see no text like high-peroformance, but a Volvocar. The radio-unit is in the back of the car (right hand side from behind). What could that be, or where could I find more information?

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good, all-season tire that would perform well in the snow? (available in the U.S.) The low profile, stock tires on my '05 V50 (sport package) are horrible in the snow and I need to replace them before the snow starts falling.

There's a ghost in the machine: today the wipers came on full time without command and the stalks (wiper and indicators) have no effect. I have tried a battery reset (negative terminal disconnect / reconnect) with no effect.

Otherwise, we've had the 2006 V50 for a year and it is great. Especially when it rains and we are driving on a straight road.

Does anyone know if a "german" V50 is equipped with automatic levelling of the xenon lights. When I start the car, I can se no movement of the lightbeam, whatsoever.

I have purchased a new real wood center console for my V50. Does anyone know how to remove the old plastic one? Is there just four star screws to remove and where can i buy the right fitting to remove them?

My car is a 2004 V50 will the new re designed wooden door handles fit on an older V50?

I've had my V50 for about a year. When I tried the heat recently, there is none. The fan blows only cold air no matter how the temperature is adjusted. Heat worked perfectly last winter. Any ideas. Thanks.

I thought it would be useful to post at what mileage different V50s needed to have their rotors and/or brake pads replaced.
FR - Front Rotors
RR - Rear Rotors
FP - Front Pads
RP - Rear Pads

Please indicate the year and type of engine as well (Diesel, 2.4, T5, T5AWD)
Based on my dealers info the thickness of new brake pads is 10 mms.

my alarm keeps going off in the middle of the night for no reason .any ideas ???unlocking then locking again solves the problem for a couple of hours .
the car is parked on level ground no windows or sunroof are open .
is there a sensitivity control for the alarm ??? It is factory fitted and i dont want to take it to the dealer as they are tooo expensive .

I have the V50 T5 wagon with 17,000 miles, and the OEM Michelin tires (205/50R 17 93V) are a disappointment - the front tires are nearly worn out! The toe-in was out, but I had that fixed.

I have a smell of rotten eggs or stagnent water in the car on start up and then intermittently when driving. The dealership have replaced a condensor in the air con but it is still doing it. Goes in again this friday for another go at it. Has anyone suffered this before??

Hello - I am generally a satisfied Volvo Owner - but are now seeking help on Technical problem.
Quite simply my new (8000 miles - 5 months) Volvo V50 has twice suffered brake failure within 4 weeks and Volvo cannot offer a reason. The Servo assistance fails leaving only manual braking.
Has another Member had a similar problem?

I just read on another thread that some one else has experienced the radio suddenly dying without warning and needing to be switched off for 1/2-hour or so to "reboot".

I've had my V50 D5 for a month and experienced this once so far. Dealer denies any known fault. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have noticed that in some discussions it has been mentioned the 2007 models come with an MP3/WMA CD unit.

I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to have the CD unit replaced on 2005-2006 models with the MP3/WMA one and what is involved to do that.
