My 05 V50SE (UK spec.) won't let me into the tailgate. The release button seems more like a diaphragm switch than a real button, and sometimes it just refuses to open. I usually open in what seems the natural way, with 3 or 4 fingers pressing the release, and lifting at the same time. Sometimes that works just fine.
When it won't release, Ive had success by prodding around the area...

Am I the only one that thinks that the key and windshield wiper control lever are in poor locations? When I put my key in the ignition, I tend to bump the wiper control lever, which activates the spray. This is extremely frustrating when you have just washed your car.

When I have one window down on my v50, there is increased air pressure in the car that hurts the ears. I haven't seen this problem listed in the forum, but the service manager says he has heard about it and there is nothing he can do about it. If I put down enough windows the pressure seems to equilize. I haven;t had this problem with other cars... and it is really irritating on the V50 as...

Are there any opinions on whether 16" or 17" are better for winter? My summer wheels are 17" Zaurak. Should I keep the same size for both seasons? Or are 16" wheels with higher tire sidewalls better in the cold?

My 2006 V50 has a roller blind that can be rolled up to cover the area above the backseats.

I have no use for this and would like to take it off and it obstructs the folding of seats etc.

Does anyone kno how to do this.

Bought a new 2006 V50 Flexifuel. There is a small vibration in the foot pedals. Mainly on the clutch. Everytime I shift I feel an annoying twitch on my foot. Hi... I'm curious about using a hand operated or electric pump to remove oil - for an oil change.

I know the old fashioned way is probably better. But I agree (with many others) that the splash pan at the bottom of the v50 is a royal pain to remove, to just get to the oil drain plug. Cutting a hole where the plug is at would seem like a darn good idea.

Hello I currently have an 07 S40 T5 AWD, I am thinking of buying my wife the V50 model (she likes the bigger cars) I wanted to ask everyones opinion of the new V50's. Anyone have an 07 yet?

I have a 2006 V50 T5, AWD, Sport Package with the 6 speed manual trans.
It makes a clunking sound when shifting into most gears when going down
the street. If stationary and you put the clutch in and put in gear it does
not make this sound, only when under load. I wonder if others have heard

I am considering buying a V50 but have 3 children. Can anyone tell me if you can fit 3 carseats across the backseat or if you can fit 2 carseats with one child sitting in the Volvo integrated booster seat. Like the car but gotta be able to fit all three.

My V50 T5 2005 sport package came with a cargo cover which does not have a handle. I was wondering if everyone owning a V50 has the same situation.

Since there is no hole & handle a lot of times I need to have a good grip and be careful so the cover does not slip and slam back into the case which is extremely annoying.

I just bought a new V50 1.8 Sport (UK 2007 model) and the manual indicates that the CD player recognises MP3 and WMA formats. I've tried creating an MP3 CD but the player says disc unrecognised.

I have an '05 V50 and I have noticed that whenever I use the windshield/headlight washer spray, there is a strong odor in the car. Smells like windshield washer fluid possibly burning?? My only thought is that the headlight fluid is somehow getting on a hot component in the engine and perhaps the vapors are being drawn in the vehicle? Any experiences or thoughts?

I'm interested in getting a summer tire package since 9 months out of the year it doesn't freeze here. My all-season package is the 16" wheel with 205/55 tires. I've heard that 18" wheels and tires can be "twitchey." Any experience or advice would be appreciated.

My new V50 is almost the perfect car i have ever had BUT... the fuel consumption is giving me headaches. Instead of 7 to 10 liters/km (as written in the Canadian book) the car consume 15 liters/km. It means that i have to fuel twice the time to make the distance. Even if the car has already 3000km there is no change !

Is there someone has, or had, this problem ? If yes, how can...

Looking at getting a V50 with the sports suspension... lowered, stiffened etc. But have never seen or driven one...
Anyone had any experience of one and can tell how much it differs in ride, comfort, performance to the standard V50 suspension.

I know you access the oil filter canister from the top of engine, but where is it?
Is it in front or towards the back and either left or right side? Do I need any
special tools to change oil filter and remove any covers?

I have had my new volvo v50 t5 since Dec. (8 months). The first week, the CHECK ENGINE light came on. Fuel pump defective. Now the car will not start on the first turn of the key in the morning. I've got my first oil and filter change at 5000km and has been told to get back for another oil and filter change and check-up at 10,000km. After that, I've been told by dealer to maintain oil and filter change at every 10,000km intervals, which is not at all the same as stated in the service book.

I leased a V50 in October, 2005. I have had my car into Volvo service two times already to fix a rear window leak. I just got off the phone with them to make arrangements for a THIRD service! We haven't seem much rain here in North Texas in quite awhile but when it has rained, the rear window leaks. On the first service, they thought it was the entire rear door that needed adjustment....

The brochure said that the mirrors have memory to go with the seats, but mine don't, any ideas??
