Just picked up a 1987 740 GLE for a steal. Everything seems to working pretty well except the heater blower. So, looks like fuse 16 is a soft spot on these 740s. Here's what a know so far....where should I go from here in order to prevent wasting any $$$$.

When I bought it, heater blower does not turn on, but the heat works. Doesn't seem like A/C works,...

Last night, 5/9/05, I bought a 1991 Volvo 740 for my son. I need access to the glove box, but cannot get it to open. It is unlocked but the latch must be detached. Has anyone got a way to open the latch without taking the box out, or do I need to start disassembling the dash on that side?

Was the source of the stiff steering traced back to the rack, or is there another location that I can try? Its doesnt feel stiif like a problematic rack, but its stiff to either side. I just picked up a 780 with the same symptoms. default/57.gif' '57.gif' />

This is going to sound like a repeat of an earlier situation with another car.

We have a 1990 760 Turbo (intercooler) wagon with 147k miles. The vehicle will die at random, stop lights, freeway, city streets, etc. It will usually start up once I coast to a stop, or it will take a minute or so before it starts. It can go months before it dies, and then it may die every day for a week...

It will rev up, if I go very slowly.

Recently replaced rotors and pads all around, now experiencing loud squeal from right rear. System is Bendix, non-ABS. i had my volvo towed to my new house, i opened it up, oiled some key parts and then tried to start it, it turns over, but then i realized that there was no gas...silly me. i'll try to get it started tonight or tomorow, i'll keep you posted.

I tried changing plugs last night and wires, and one of the plugs wouldn't fire. During the troubleshooting process though I lost track of the wires and have searched through my maintenance CD and the internet and can't find the ridiculously simple diagram that states which wires go where! Can someone please help?

Time to put some custom rims and tires on this puppy....question....what are the largest wheel/tire combination I can put on this car (89 760 GLE) I have heard 17" will fit with thin tires but also that 16" are a better look for this car. Any opinions? Any links to custom wheel sites? It seems 5x108 is a somewhat rare size.....

The oil form gearbox is cooled in the
separate loop inside the main radiator. This radiator cools
the engine too. Recently I got internal
oil leakage from gearbox oil loop to the engine "water" loop
