So I was driving today, no problem. I switched my car off for 2 minutes, when I started it back up, it was running horribly. I took it to my guy and he looked at it for an hour (free of charge).
He said it is the Mass Airflow Meter. A little research into the part and....holy sh*t it is expensive!
Dealer has it for $1000 CDN and online parts suppliers have it for $400 U.S....

Recently, my 89 740 Turbo (auto) has been hesitating when I accelerate and losing engine power, especially when going up hills. The tach gets to 2000-2100 then lags back a bit then forward, and most of the time I have to let off the gas to get it to shift down, then get back on it to try again, sometimes it does it, sometimes not, but it is about half the time now, so it is almost undriveable.

my 84 760 GLE has a bad idle issue it idles as if someone is putting thier foot on the gas and taking it off again ive spoken to a friend and he sugested something about a heat choke or heat pipes

any sugestions as to what i can do to fix this issue

I am wondering if I can put a 4 cyl or Turbo b230 in my 760 GLE. The V6 (b280) is running well now but I know it will be very expensive and almost impossible to rebuild. I can't find an engine shop in town who will touch it because they say it costs too much and is really hard to find parts for. When the time comes, can I swap in a rebuilt 4cyl? I know I will lose horsepower but I need better...

on my 1988 760 turbo everythign as worked fine but then all of a suddon when i went to start it in the morning the fan kicked it on high wich it does when it is at high speed but when u went to turn it down nothing happined all the buttins do nothing. i just bought a car which has been sitting in storage for 3 years, it has no battery and the hood release is broken. i wanted to know what needs to be done before trying to fire up this beast. i know i have to drain all fluids and replace them, but is there anything else?

Hopefully someone out there can help me. I have a 1990 740 turbo wagon. I replaced the A/C compressor today. The car started fine but while I was charging the system the car died and now it won't restart. I have tried disconnecting the battery, letting some of the pressure out of the a/c system and let it sit for a while to cool back down. I am completely out of ideas....

Fellas: After tuning up the 760, i decided to put a cd player in the car. I noticed later in that my Turbo guage stopped working. No other symptoms or fuses seem to be bad. Its stuck at the halfway point.

My 740 starts fine and runs well for about 15 minutes. Then it will start to misfire. Things get worse in the next few minutes until it will not take any load and eventually dies. Spark seems good. Can anyone tell me how to remove the radio from a 740. Radio is either a CR702 or 705. Also if I replace the radio with a cd radio will the seperate volvo graphic equalizer still work.

I got an estimate to replace 2 front rotors and all 4 brake pads on my 89 760 GLE.
It was for $450.00 CDN (like $360 US.)
Is that a fair price? I know this isn't so difficult to do myself but I have neither the time nor desire to do so.

Well, I took a suggestion from the topic about hesitation on acceleration and replaced my fuel filter. It was quite a job but I was able to finally torque the bolts out and replaced it with the washers as well. Now I tighened it all back up and secured it back under the car. My problem is this:

Hi all - I just pulled up to my driveway and parked the car as I normally do and put my shifter into Park. Only it slid, with no resistance, to P instead of "clicking" from D to N to P.
