Greetings all, am having problems with my 1990 740T alarm. I just replaced the ignition switch (not the ignition lock or steering lock) but now the lights blink on and off whenever I open my car. In fact, the lights continue to blink even when I drive it. For some reason, turning on the headlights stops the blinking while driving. I think the P.O. sort of disconnected the aftermarket (?)...

The fuel gauge reads 'zero' on my 85 Volvo 740 wagon, and the temperature gauge reading is very low, so I am looking for the 'instrument cluster voltage stabilizer'. Does anyone know exactly where that is? I pulled the instrument cluster and could not find it. A detailed description on the component would be helpful, or a picture, or info on how to repair the circuit.

Wee bit of help please. Just now my spedo went poof, it didn't just die though. At first it would show correct speed until I hit a bump then it would drop and come back up to normal.
Then it showed 0 speed unless I hit a bump in which case it would show correct speed for a second and drop back to 0.
Now it's not doing anything at all and the odometer isn't...

I just added a 1987 760 Turbo Wagon with 199,450 miles to my stable of rides. My Australian Cattle dogs love to go for rides.

It starts fine but when cold it trys to stall. When it warms up is opperates normal.

It has a water leak in the sun roof, and a leak in the driver side cargo area window. The head liner is missing.

Any sugestions on the driveability...

My 1990 740 sedan looks and runs great but both the gas gauge and odometer have been broken since I bought the car. This poses an obvious problem because without a trip odometer I cannot know when to put gas into my tank so I have had to wing it.

So my questions is; would it be more lucrative to spend the $75+ that people are asking on Ebay for clusters or to have a volvo...

I purchased an auto start alarm for my 740. I have been messing with this for a couple weeks and still cant get it figured out. I was wondering if anyone can tell me where the following wires plug in. I was going to post the info but there is a ton of stuff but if you go to scytek.net and look at the 5000RS series manual page 32 it shows the info. I also dont know about installing an asperator...

Hello, I have a 1991 740 turbo.. Yesterday the turn signals stopped working and also the power windows stopped.. The fuse for the turn signals blew.. I replaced it.. No luck still no turn signals or windows... Any help would be appreciated!!!!!!

I've got a '92 740 Turbo SW that is unfortunately done in - head gasket blown, valve job, speedometer, etc. I've got two set of tires on rims. Snows are on regular steel rims and the regular ones on Alloy (Aluminum) 20 spoke rims (15" X 6"). I am brand new to the wonderful world of the Volvo.
I just bought my beautiful 740 GLE, it is perfect except the sunroof isn't working.

I believe its just something in the electricals, although i am not particularly car savvy (i am hoping this is going to change)

I have a 1991 with 340,000 kms on it. I still can not figure out the stalling problems
which are intermittent and driving me crazy. My mechanic has replaced the coil, the
spark plugs and the crank shaft sensor. Also the fuel filter has been changed along

It's been in her family all its life, and has always had an intermittent engine cut out - driving along, happy as larry, then the engine randomly turns off. So you coast to the side of the road, and try turn it over, and it won't start for x minutes (x being any number between 1 and 10).

I have a buddy that is a mechanic and me and have been going back and forth about a 88 740 being interference or non interference motor. He gave me a timing belt book manual that says that pretty much all of volvo's motors are intereference and that in the event of a timing belt brake the pistons and what not will slam together causing you to need a new engine. On the front seat passenger side, I had water coming in through the blower motor. Is there a fuse to replace if the electrical isn't working? I know where the main fuse box is located behind the ash tray, but I can't seem to find a listing for the seat.

Yo, im new to the volvo world, but anyways I ran outta gas the other day with my car, an after I put gas in it it wont start. I changed out the rear fuel pump with a new one, an when I turn the key it trys to start once. Im not gettin any power to the frame mounted pump...which relay is the fuel pump relay exactly, I know where theyre all at, but which one is it.
