The car was running fine but wouldn't start after a brief errand. 175K. Not turbo. Engine turns over but wont start. It has good fuel pressure but no fire to any plugs (1-6). Can not get info from diagnostic plugs (fuel or ignition) No codes @ all. Timing belt looks great. Timing marks seem to be correct. Replaced crankshaft sensor but still not starting.

When the check engione light comes on, the mechanic tells me it is for thr egr system? They replaced a sensor, reset the codes, but it came on the next day.
They sent it out to an electrician who found some hot grounds?. The codes were reset, but as usual, the check engine light is on again. They have reset it a few times.
Any ideas?

In the engine bay screwed onto the side by the headlight is a metal plate about 4or 5 inches long and about 2 inches wide with a wire running into it. As soon as you start the car the plate gets really hot as in too hot to touch. As i am modifying my 940 turbo ... i am removing the dash, but i need to know whether i can just hook up an aftermarket tach straight tot he tach input on the volvo dash. i tried this in my 740 and it didnt work so i am dubious about trying it this time.

I forgot about this on my last post, sometimes when I apply the brake there is (I dont know the correct term) what can only be described as a strong tickle on the brake pedal, a friend told me it could be to do with the ABS but I should'nt worry too much about it.

First post here. Got a 96 - 960 in very good condition. Looking to replace the stock speakers and head unit. Very early in process so I got a few questions hopefully you can help me with.

I listen to all kinds of music but I am partial to electronic and dance. Though there is nothing wrong with the stock equipment, it just isnt doing it for me.

Hi this is my first post on this forum. Has anyone any idea of price for having the head gasket replaced. I dont think I could manage the job myself as it looks fairly complicated. the model is a 1996 3l 24v 960 estate. Its in good condition and I am reluctant to part with it. Great forum - this is my first post after acquiring a beautiful 1995 940 TD auto wagon. A major problem is lack of leg room for a 70-year-old 6ft 4in driver with a back problem. Sometimes when the heat is on or the ac I can smell the coolant. I have a 1995 Volvo Turbo (Intercooler) and the coolant I am told needs to be flushed as it is dirty (mechanic), but the faint smell concerns me. This car has been serviced every 5K since new.
The service light just came on and has stayed on except for one trip down to the market, it was off for some reason.
What might it mean?

I Have just bought myself a 1995 2.5 960 and i have a problem with revving over 5000 rpm, if i keep my foot about 3/4 of the way down the car revs ok out to the red line,but if i use the full throttle range it struggles to rev above 5000 rpm, i checked and it has a new air filter, i will check the plugs tomorrow, i had to clean the idle valve as it was gummed up.

She runs great and hasn't really ever given me any problems but lately i've been wondering if i can get more out of my turbo without dropping a good number on a new or even used one, i just wanna know if theres anyway i can get more psi out of it or more boost at certain times. please get back to me i'd rather save some money that waste it.

In Europe we have this anoying ticking sound when getting in the car,& I would like to get this american "chime" sound.

I need new struts on my 1998 V90. I've seen some posts and recommendations suggesting that the strut mounts should be replaced at the same time. Is this really worthwhile? I would expect to replace the mount bearing either way, but are the other parts of the upper mount just generally deteriorated with time and mileage? My 91 940 SE has a problem when braking. The front wheels will shudder just like a rotor is warped, but I put new rotors on last summer and just had them turned recently when installing new pads. I have a very spongy pedal that no amount of bleeding seems to help. I don't know what else to do. Please help if someone knows what else to check and/or replace.

basically the same car as in the mauals that run from H-N as there are a lot of these books available.

It rolled 2 inches and stopped then thru a check eng. light, the up arrow in the dash flashes and the lights on the shifter ( W-S-E) flash. Hi all! I just bought my 1st volvo. It's a '95 960 wagon. I'm having trouble with the seats though. The passenger sear doesn't work at all and the driver's side just feel and sounds like something is blocking it from moving freely. Has anybody had this same problem and fixed it?
