something is wierd with my car at moment. rear window wiper and the drivers side headlamp wiper have stopped working, and currently sitting in the "up" position.

i just purchases a 200 v40 two days ago, has 123000 miles in decent shape, now lo and behold i have a thumping noise when i drive sounds like the front right tire area, i was told the front axle assembly had been replaced. could this possibly be a repeat of that? is there any way i can test that, anything else i should be looking for? anything i can do to help you help me figure it out?.....any...

couple questions:
1. I'm plan to do my own oil change on 2001 v40. what's the best oil and oil filter I should use?
2. the manual says oil change interval is 75k miles or 125k km. is this too long? i thought usually oil needs to be changed every 5-6k?

just had my R reg 1998 V40 serviced with other bits done to it. its a 1.8 xs. before i got it serviced it was runing like a dog. mainly the idle. if you took your foot off the accelerator it would drop to about 400 rpm and then bounce back upto 900.

It went in to get a replacement gearbox.....still not sure if it is a Renault Laguna box or not....however, that's not the problem since my man finally located a box to fit and she runs as good as new. The problem is I've now no interior...

So I have a 2000 v40 1.9d , when driving its very smokey , but drives ok untill 60-70 mph then at about 3 and a half thousand rpm it makes a rattling noise and all power dies lots of smoke . My V40 ran out of batteries and I had the wrong code. I know have the correct code but the stereo is stuck on OFF. I have left the ignition at position 1 for over 2 hours (but not in a long run...). Can anyone give me some tips?

My V40 was fine one minute then the clutch pedal has suddenly got much harder to press down (about 5-10x harder). I can still change gear ok, there are no strange noises and the hydraulic levels look normal. You can really feel the heaviness and springiness of the release bearing. Wondering if anyone else experiences this problem When the car is cold , ie early morning i get loads of smoke coming out the the exhaust. I've seen other V40's at this time of morning with a similar amount.

About three months ago I replaced all four rotors and brake pads on my 2001 V40. Now when I brake, it doesn't stop quickly like it used too. I've bled and re-bled all four calipers in the order that volvo recommends, I've waited for the brake in period (it's been over a 1000 miles now) and the car still doesn't stop on a dime.

I'm experiencing repeated code for # 3 cylinder missfire, CEL flushing under heavy acceleration. Replaced coils, plugs, wires and leaky fuel pressure regulator,no improvement.Also checked coils connections.

The temperature gauge worked. The heater worked. Usually when thermostat quits the heater does too.

I have just installed some heated seat buttons and the wire popped in fine and now they light up when pressed.

Final thing would be to hook the seats up but where does the wire from the bottom of the seat go? I had the rear part of the centre console out and couldnt see any slots.

just had brake fluid changed driveing home and accellarator feels stiff and grindy an sqeaks when engine is running
stop engine smooth and no sqeak
had a look under dash there seems to be a little what i can only describe as a pump that i think should aid the accelerator pedal this is not doing anything when engine is running wondering if garage have forgot to bleed this or something

I just recently replaced the centre console on my V40 and i took off the air con switches and temp knobs to unscrew the old console, when i put the new console in and the temperature knobs and air con controls back in, the lights wouldnt come on.

How do i get them back on?

I have a 1997 V40. I would like to add roof rails to the car. However, the price is rather steep at EUR 320. In the US, I can buy rails for less than half that price, but only the 2000-2004 models were sold in the US. I know some changes were made in the 2000-2004 models.
