Bought '86 240 GL auto wagon rear axle comp. from mate, spare brass radiator, 2x 4yo shocks and 1 engine fan assy @ $200-. Can't complain. Have solid steel torque links, everything with new rubbers. Will drain & refill diff, and fit the new handbrake cables. I'll fit in-hub adjusters to the handbrake.

I have an AW70L in my 240 GL non turbo. I want a 5 spd. should I use a 2T or 3T T50 series, or a W series Toyota gearbox? I imagine I have abt 100KW max avail, so I suspect the 2/3T would work ok. Are there parts to fit it? Which would be best? I know W series is catered for by specialty shops, what about T50 bellhousing to suit?

Perth, WA: My '88 240 GL has chunks of slivers of metal attached to the magnetic plug in the diff, & is grinding 'orribly. It had run too dry 'cos of unchecked leaks. I might get a few more 100km out of it after refilling? I know, It's my fault, I should have checked it sooner. Axle brgs are shot too, I think I'll drop in another axle comp., reconned if I have time...

I'll need to replace my 88 240GL auto wagon's (>250,000km) rear wheel bearings (source & $ of kit, anyone?) as there is abt 5mm end float in the wheel. I'm suspicious that I'll need to replace the axles too?
