HI,IF YOU HAVE A V70 S60 OR OTHER MODELS USING A ZEXEL COMPRESSOR,YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE UNIT (APPROX COST£250)TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM.THE JOB TAKES AROUND 2 HRS AND ONCE THE COOLING FANS ARE REMOVED THE COMPRESSOR ACCESS IS EASY,THE BELT A BIT TRICKY AND IT IS WORTH NOTEING THE ROUTE IT TAKES AROUND THE AUXILLARIES.DEGAS THE AIRCON NEEDS TO BE DONE BY A SPECIALIST BEFORE REMOVING THE PIPES.DISCONNECT THE COIL WIRE(WHITE CONNECTOR)AND REMOVE THE 4 12MM BOLTS.COMPRESSOR IS NOW OFF THE CAR.UNDO THE 10MM BOLT IN THE CENTRE OF CLUTCHPLATE AND SLIDE OFF (IF STIFF MAKE UP PULLER WITH 4 HOLES AND USING THE 5MM THREAD IN CLUTCHPLATE THE PLATE OFF)NOTE THE POSITION OF ANY SHIMS. NOW YOU CAN REMOVE A CIRCLIP THAT KEEPS THE PULLEY ON AND REMOVE THE PULLEY (MAY NEED GENTAL TAP WITH HAMMER)PULLEY OFF ,PRESS OUT THE OLD BEARING AND PRESS IN NEW ONE USING CENTRE PUNCH RESET DEPRESSIONS HOLDING BEARING IN.REFIT PULLEY AND CIRCLIP ,REFIT CLUTCHPLATE AND BOLT (AND THE SHIMS)APPROX AIR GAP OF .2-.3MM.REFIT COMPRESSOR,FAN AND BELT.GET THE AIR CON REGASSED.I DO SELL THE BEARING ON EBAY.USER NAME4719R OR CONTACT NATALIERUTHLANE@YAHOO.CO.UK

my 850 2ltr 5cyl 20 valve...93/94...refuses to start with the ignition key..tow it and it starts and runs fine... the onboard computer shows no faults,... whenthe key is turned, the engine turns over, but there is no spark.....on releasing the key, the coil gives a spark....i have changed the coil and the starter andthe crank sensor and the cam sensor and the ignition switch and the battery and the ecu..but it is still the same...any help on this would be apreciated....help meeeeeee......

I'm in my first Volvo (XC70 SE D5, on a 54 plate) and so far its proving to be a good car - a few minor niggles could do with sorting out but that's for another time!

I'm after any Recommendations for Volvo specialists who could provide servicing for my car - the main dealer so far this year has taken me for £315 (60K miles) and £375 (72K miles) and I could do with finding a non-dealer Volvo specialist that comes with a good recommendation as I'm doing lots of miles and these servicing bills are coming round a bit too often for my liking!

I'm living in Hartlepool
Working in Knaresborough
and my other half lives in Gateshead

So if anyone can recommend a reputable place in Teesside, North Yorkshire or Tyneside that woiuld be much appreciated.

I have an XC90. When I bought it (second hand) it had Continental tyres on it. I since have had to replace all of them and had thm replaced with Michelin. I have since had excessive road noise and I wondered if anyone else had had the same experience.

Have the tryes been fitted wrongly or are they just not suited to the XC90?
Should I get them removed and put Continental back on?

What tyres work best for 100% road use with least road noise?

Please help.....

since i enjoyed the last meet even though only 2 people showed up (i was one of them!) that i decided to try again, this time with a date well into the future. that gives us time to organise everything and for people to put names down. i can also sort out a band and pub quiz for the evening. location's open for suggestions though i had considered silverstone as it's easy to find from major motorways and we can get discount entry if we book in advance in large numbers. there's plenty of motels and hotels around and there's plenty of fuel and lpg stations. maybe do a convoy run from a start location to silverstone to the afternoon entertainment and a good pub. any suggestions and confirmed names would be good.

maybe it is some strange for you to see unusual member on this area with not tipical question what are discussed here.
Firstly my short wailful story when my car stopped amid forest near of Moscow (25 km). It was 05 of December, 19-00 of evening, but thankfully the weather was not cold, about -10 degrees. From this moment I got a dark side for my life on next four months and maybe more.

It is truth in Moscow locate a lot of services which offer transmissions spare parts, but they are very expensive due to terminated market... As a result I had repaired all mechanical parts by way of exchanging these one into the gearbox - but a progress of hits are staying. During some not multiaspect actions (it were changings between of two Valve Bodies on my car) - all involved "professionalists" had common conclusion the matter in the Valve Body is bad. Me personnally had test drive on the different units and has feel not same connections of gears.
So I have a strong with to purchase Valve Body directly form EU. The only moment I am worried about is that there is a possibility of mismatching. Because all service man doesn't present guarantee for a new unit after installation...!!!

The questinos is, if it's really possible that purchased Valve body will not be suitable for my gearbox? And why?
If I will provide a supplier with all the references No-s, can I be sure, that the Valve body is exactly suitable?

Does anybody know if the valve body is absolutly standard and I can purchase it for sure? Or are there some modifications possible, and I need to find out more imformation? For me is typical breakdown of part from Sonnax company (Producer of Valve Body for ASIN Warner) - but isn't typical dark situation with a new units installation to my old transmission.

Once again the time has come for the next (34th) annual car show event that is Wheels day at Rushmoor Arena near Aldershot

In 2007 we had a very full display area with around 2000+ vehicles on show of every type you could wish to see, ranging from Street Rods, Custom Cars, Yanks, Bikes, Vans, British Classics, Historic Vehicles and Dragsters.

At Wheels Day 2008, there will be refreshments available, a fun fair for the children, trade stands, craft stalls and music all day. The show opens to the public at 10:00am however show cars arrive considerably earlier (around 8am onwards) and the show closes at 4:00pm. Entry is £5.00 per person, children and OAP are free.

Last year, I was the only Volvo guy there with my 740 and its massive sound system, and believe me it drew the crowd from the other side of the 10acre field. This year I aim to have the 940 which i am currently working on there as my 740 isnt in 'show' condition.

It is set to be another good year this year and would love to see some more volvo's there especially the older ones

as those who've seen my garage pics know, i have done some mods to my s40. i was at a local mod cruise last night and had the embarresment of sitting in the side of the road for an hour while the local authorities crawled all over the car trying to pick faults. they only found three luckily. the front number plate which i knew about and acept the fine, my window tint that i was given an advisory, and my back bumper having a gap from the body. it's supposed to be like that! my motorbike outrider, ben, was royally done. back tyre was too worn. had to ride home on a 750 sports bike at 50mph! and 3 points. just be carefull when you do anything. the laws are getting tighter and they're not letting anything go.

hey people, just a quick, but late one, wheels day a classic american car show, tho there is loads of others etc... jap imports etc... my volvo is going to be there too.

this good friday (6th) at rushmoor arena. if you google wheels day should be a freewebs page and information is there. easily locateable from j4 of the m3, just head towards and through aldershot (a331) last junction on that, and then head for 'twesel down' and its right niext to that.

Just to keep you guys informed, I've planned a VOC mini meet in Scotland, for the 18th February and have also invited along members from VPCUK.

So just incase anyone from on here is interested in coming along, I've posted up the details below, and if you wish to come along, you will be made most welcome.

Once again, following the success of the past meet, I have invited VPCUK to attend, and have been working closely with "Fraz" their events co-ordinator.

Summary of the meet:

Meeting up in Pitlochry, at the Salmon Ladder car park for about 11am or there abouts

From there, convoy to Blair Atholl Arms to get some lunch. Then home via Tummel Bridge, at whatever time we leave the pub.

Convoy from Glasgow with a couple of stops to meet others along the way i.e Stirling Service Area at approx 9am and Perth ( Hungry Horse, Broxden Roundabout) at approx 10am....

Anyone coming up from the south, I will be at the Europa Truck Stop, Lesmahagow (just off Junction 10 N/B) at about 8am and leaving at 8.15, heading towards Stirling.

Those coming from the North can hook up together and convoy down if you like....

At the moment it looks like it's going to be around the 20 - 25 cars mark, so if you haven't put your name down yet, and you thinking of going, add it on, as I may need to phone the Atholl Arm's to confirm that they can handle it.
