I have a 95' 850 GLT non turbo. My car also has OBD II which people tell me is unique.

My question is: What engines from what models and years would be pretty much drop right in and bolt right up?

In the middle of a road trip i pulled off at an exit and noticed the smell of burning hair coming through the vents. I also noticed a funny noise but didnt think it was anything serious because it went away as soon as i started driving. I just bought a '94 850 turbo today with the intention of doing a 5 speed conversion. I asked in another thread if anybody knew of any write-ups that had been done on the process and so far haven't seen a response to that. I guess I'll learn as I go.

I think I need to replace my flasher switch....my right turn signal is blinking fast like one of the lights has burnt out, only..the lights are good to go. So, I figure it's the flasher and I go out and buy a replacement. One problem: I can't find where the damn thing is supposed to go. None of the manuals I can find have a diagram that tells me what I need to know...can anybody here tell...

i found one that has been used like twice so its basically new. and just under $100. is that a good deal?

help please, my 1994 850 turbo is coding the arrow on the dash.
1. when you first crank the car, the arrow light starts to blink, if driven it shifts long rpms and quite never reaches top gear.
2. if you turn the key on and off a couple of time the light will go off and the car drives normal tested in all driving styles.

A couple of problems which appear to be related (i.e. they showed up at similar time). Would appreciate some insights into what the cause(s) might be.
1. When cold, car won't always start. If it does, it will stall when put into drive (it's an auto) or when revved (stops when the revs drop back). Re-starting then difficult - sometimes have to switch off and wait for several mins...

I'm trying to clear codes on my 94 855 and this is what I've tried:

1. gas, high octance
2. fuel filter
3. tune up - plugs, wires, rotor, cap
4. new knock sensors, updated kit
5. swapped in another ECU and no change

any ideas on what next?? i am getting 433 and 143 sometimes.

Picked up a '94 850 T-Wagon a few weeks back. Haven't been able to identify the disk shaped object with wire bundle attached shown in photo anywhere in Haynes. So-what is it? Threaded stud in center-looks like something may be missing , also. Thanks

I noticed today that my turbo charger with 115k miles on it is sick, if not dead.

It will spool up to the point where it would kick in (white on the gauge) but then stops.

No woosh, no boost, no nothing

Does this sound like a dead turbo to the professional techs out there, or something less serious

I own a very early 1993 volvo 850 glt and I am looking to replace my ecu air filter located at the front of the engine bay. It is very small and I can not find a replacement. I want to know what the part number is on this part so it will make it much easier when going to the dealership to get it, or order it over the phone. Thank you Volvo!

so i had a bit of los of power and rough idling followed by complete refusal to start. check iacv and found lose hose. i ran the car with parts missing and the check light came up...presumably for vacuum leak.
any way, car is fine now but check engine light remained on for about a week after.
it has gone out now.

does the ecu recheck its self every so often, and turned off...

How do I get out the master window switch in the middle of my console? Can I pry it out? Some reason my switch for the passenger front window works going down but up.... well you gotta push the button several times. (been getting worse started about a week ago)

Am pretty new to 850s so I hope you guys could help me with this problem.

My reverse gear engages smoothly, and reverses well if you don't press on the gas pedal. Once you press on the gas pedal, youget the feeling that something is slipping and there is aslight shuddering in the car.

IPD's RIP kit is listed for '95-'98 model year cars. What's different on the '94 that makes it not fit? I sent IPD an e'mail and asked them, but I guess they were busy.

I put my 95 850 in for a service, tune and timing belt the car was well past its due date for a service and tune, when i got the car back it sounded like the removed my purring 2.5 and replaced it with a diesel!!!, every vlave is noisey. He tried changing the oil, no good, he went as far as trying to remove the valve covers but couldnt figure out how to get them off.

I have just bought a 1996 Volvo 850 that has a CD changer installed in the boot. The Cassette that holds the CD's is missing, does anyone know what model this changer is and where I can get a reasonably priced replacement cassette from? i haven't been into volvos that long so i dont know much about them. i'm looking for a new (catback or just muffler). i dont want anything loud. i want something that sounds stock most of the time but to have a nice tone in the high rpms. kinda like stock exhausts on some modern sport cars like the cooper s or some infinity cars... i think you guys get what i'm trying to say.

I just wanted to know, because i have some smoke coming out of the engine, not sure if it's from the head gasket or if it's an exhaust manifold leak? it's white in color and usually spills out when the engine is idling and then you give it a quick shot of the throttle....I'm also getting an occasional puff of blue smoke at the exhaust on startup only...i don't have smoke coming...

My 96 850 Wagon is completely unresponsive. It is as if the battery is disconnected. I had work done on it a few days ago --- replaced air pump and secondary 02 sensor and all seemed to be fine after that. I drove it a couple of times and was not aware of anything being amiss. There is a strong petrol smell coming out of the engine bay. What could cause this?

It happened after I changed my injectors from orange to whites.

BTW, should white injectors use the blue seals? I noticed on me buddie's V70T5 where whites are standard, they had no blue seals.

sometimes when i push in the clutch or throw it in to neutral the RPMs seem to take a while to come down, and i know this is affecting my gas mileage. is there something that might need some cleaning, like my throttle body? i was thinking it might just be sticking a little bit but i have no idea...

What type of bulbs will be needed as these kits are too expensive from IPD, unless one of you know where I can find them cheaper. Basically I want to know what the bubs numbers are, where to get them and also the bulb type for the rear ash tray would be great to know too or a website with all of this information.

Fixed the ABS and TRACS OFF lights. Electric portion of ignition switch. Did have an eng light on also. Code was I think p0443. Generic was P0234. 234 dtc was turbo charger sel. A??? I noticed it several years ago I got the car in 03 noticed it back then. This grime is coming out of this seal but them dripping down onto the frame and sitting there. It does not seem to be getting any worse but I figured I would finally get around to asking about it. I outlined the grime and you are looking in on the front drivers side wheel well.
