I have 1986 240 Dl. While I'am filling up at the gas station I have noticed gas leaking out from under the car near the left(passenger)tire after it's been filling for about a minute. Any suggestions on what might be going on. Thanks default/beer.gif' 'beer.gif' />

What's the stock thermostat for a 1987 Volvo 240DL? I see multiple temps, though since our car is older, I may need to go with a lower temp, and I live in Southern California.

Also, what's the best way to drain the coolant to perform this job?

Volvos require 50 ethyline glycol coolant.

ethylene glycol has about 4 x the latent heat of water: IE It can absorb or release 4 times more heat than the same quantity of water

at 50% solution, I'll guess and assume that the latent heat of coolant is about twice the latent heat of water.

I just got a 91 240S wagon and the gas gauge isn't working. kind of a bummer, anyone know if this is a hard fix? Also, my heated seats are not turning on, and the lights on the switches do not light up as well. i'm hoping just a fuse? any help is greatly appreciated. thanks, Robert.

My car keeps overheating and I'm not sure why. There aren't any leaks and I don't see any smoke at all. The temp gauge only goes up 3/4 of the way, not all the way into the red. Should I be worried about this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

For some strange reason, the left side of the car's door handles are no longer working, they didnt stop working at the same time, but within about a year of each other.

here's the odd part: the back door was rarely used. was barely opened, even when the driver's side door handle was broken.

Has anyone ever modified there seats to travel back further? I am a long legged person and would like for my seat to go further back. I am thinking about modifying the driver seat post or even moving the track. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I'm shopping for adapter plates and easy wire harnesses (aka, I dont have to cut the original harness in any way) I found some good ones on crutchfield, but the prices are a bit high ($20 for a plastic plate? $14 for a harness?)

I can't find the low pressure port on my 1987 240 DL wagon. The system was converted to R134 before I purchased the vehicle. I found one port on the back of the A/C compressor but it was too big in diameter. Is there another connection on the compressor or is the one I found the only one? Where do I hook up the can of r134 to? Thanks in advance!

My 83 Volvo DL has been running very well lately, I only had to recently replace the lower ball joint on the passenger side.

However, I have had a reoccurring problem with my car overheating when it is a hot day. When it is a mild to cold day it runs great and never has any problems. Also the temperature rises even quicker when stopped in traffic.

Does anyone have an idea on where to get a manual for the VW diesel they put in the 240's in the early 80's? I just added a 1984 240 Diesel wagon to my Volvo collection and all the books on it I find say little to nothing about the diesel. Should I search the VW or Audi sights? I was under the impression the diesel was made specifically for Volvo and wasn't used in any VW family...

The problem is- every morning when I get into the Volvo to go to work/school, it takes me exactly 4 cranks to get the thing to move. The first two cranks- the car starts and then immediately dies. When shifting gears, I release the clutch pedal yet the car responds as if the clutch is still being slowly released. Also, after engaging and driving at speed, if I go to accelerate the car acts as if the cluctch is being engaged.
What is the problem? What is the solutiom? What is the estimated cost?

So here's my problem, I was having problems (high whining noises though not the belt, and low resonating noises) with my car and couldn't figure it out, though finally realized that it was due to my Tranny Mount being completely destroyed, the low noise was from my engine leaning on the firewall....
