I have a 2010 C70 with 17 inch rims. Purchased a Volvo capatible 17 x 4 inch temp rim from Ebay but now I find out that no local tire shops cary temp tires, most suggest that I hit the junk yard BUT local junk yards don't get Volvos in and C70's as I understand it do not come with a spare anyway nor can they do any sort of cross refference. On line tire shop sells temp tires but wanted to know size and load rating? I really do not want a full size spare as C70 trunk has little enough room already. Whats my best option?

1. Are there other Temp Tires from more commonly junked car that will fit my C70? I know it takes a 5x108 (5x 4.25in) lug pattern but what about that 65.1 hub bore and needed offset?

2. What size/load temp tire would fit the 17in temp rim I have?

I have a 2008 XC70. I just changed over to snow tires with steel rims and now I am getting the warning that the tire pressure warning system needs servicing. All suggestions are appreciated

I was hoping to get some help on tire sizing to equip my wife's car for the winter driving season. I wanted to know if the tires from Gislaved namely EuroFrost sized at 215/55 R16 with steel rims taken from an X70 will fit a 2002 S60 awd which currently have all season Michelin tires sized at P205/55 r16. My concerns are, as to the compatibility of the rims and if the S60 wheel well will allow the bigger tires to maneuver without hitting the side walls.

I'n thinking some time this year I may have to replace my tires. I'm tempted to upgrade my wheels to 18" wheels. Does anyone know where I could find Volvo's Midir 7.5x18" diamond cut wheels in the US? I can't find them anywhere online

i have a 97 850t wagon its stock height, ive thought of lowering it with a set of sport srpings(idp,h&r,eibach)in order of lowest drop..2" idp, 1.5" h&r, 1.3" eibach..id like to put on some 18x8 on w/either 215/35/18 or 215/40/18 id honestly like to have the 40 series. i almost dont mind keeping it stk if 18s give trouble when lowered
does anyone have 18s with any combo of spring/stk to let me know what the ride is like and if there are any rubbing issues,issues at all??
id appreciate any ideas or first hand knowledge on the subject

I need new front tires - had a leak and the edge of one of the front tires is in bad shape.

1997 Volvo 850 GLT Sedan

In 2010, I bought 2 new 195/60R15 Sumitomo HTR 200 tires from Tire Rack. I had purchased four new identical Sumitomo HTR 200 tires in about 2006. They are fine tires. FWIW, I do not ever drive in snow.

The Sumitomo HTR 200 is apparently not available anymore - or in any event, they are unavailable from Tire Rack.

There are 195/60 R15 Sumitomo HTR A/S P01 offered. However, when I try to order them, there is a strong caution that says something like "the manufacturer wants you to have all four tires the same."

I really do not want to buy 4 new tires for this 15 year old car. Can I get away with 2 Sumitomo tires on the front that are different from the 2 Sumitomo tires on the back, or is there a realistic danger here?

I've had an air leak in my left rear tire for the past couple of months. It has slowly been getting worse. I figured that I must have picked up a nail or that the valve stem was leaking. To troubleshoot this, I put the wheel/tire in a kiddie pool filled with soapy water to see if I could find where the bubbles were appearing from the leak. I looked and looked for about 1/2 hour and saw no bubbles from either the tire or the valve stem. As I was about to drain the pool, I noticed some bubbles coming out from the metal of the wheel! There is a small pinhole leak in the metal that is causing the air to leak out there.

Has anyone ever seen this? I sure never have.

I'm taking the car to the dealer next week (for a different issue) and I'll show them what's going on. The car is out of warranty by about 3 years, but I'm pretty shocked that there would be a problem with the wheel leaking air. (I'd include a pic of wheel, but the digital camera is on vacation right now.)

I just ordered the 17" Pegasus S60R wheels so I can put a snow tire on this car with a larger profile.

According to specs, the rims call for a 235/45/17 has anyone gone with someithng like a 225/ 50 series tire... or does anyone know if and what thicker size will fit. im even willing to use 5mm spacers on the back (cause I already usem on the front to kill that notorious rub) although I think height not depth on this. is going to be the problem.

My R's 18" wheels are getting a beat down on these NY roads...this is a last option before I dump it.

Hi everyone. I own a '89 GMC truck with 245,000 mis., a '96 Monte Carlo with 210,000 mis., a '02 GMC Envoy with 100,300 mis., and a '03 Volvo S80 with 55,000 mis. that I purchased from CarMax. It had about 45,000 miles on it at the time I bought it. I have never replaced any suspension parts except shocks on the truck. Thats it. I took my Volvo in for the VA state safty inspection and was told the brakes needed replacing and the rotors turned. I have no problem with that, it sounds about right. Tires were close to failing but he would let them slide at that time. I made an appointment at the local specialist on foreign cars to have the brakes replaced. In the mean time the car quit and wouldn't start. I had it towed to the specialist. He called and said this; The car needs a fuel sending unit causing the "no start" problem. He can't pass the car's inspection unless I replace the upper torque arm bushing, the inner tie rod, front tires and brakes. My question in all this is, since I never owned a Volvo, do parts like that wear out in 55,000 miles? The car is street driven, mostly in town.

Looking to purchase a set of XC90 V8 AWD Atlantis 18" wheels mounted with 235 60 18 tires. If anyone has a set for sale, please contact me. Would also consider another style of wheel, however for resale purposes would like to stay with OEM's.

I recently purchased a set of used 17" Pegasus rims that I plan to mount my all season tires to in the spring when I switch my snow tires out (which are mounted on my stock 17 rims, I think they are called Comets). In the long run I will save money having the two full sets.
I purchased the rims from another member of the forum and they arrived mostly as expected except one wheel has a bit more paint lifting than quoted. After doing some reading I think I am going to use this NASA method (http://www.bmwtips.com/tipsntr...r.htm) to fix up the little curb rash and maybe the lifting paint and other imperfections.

I am going to start collecting the materials needed, but my first question is how do I know which color the wheels are?
From reading & looking around I understand there are a few colors and volvo offers them with the clear coat, see this page for example http://www.vivaperformance.com...d=294 better prices are to be at at FCP Groton but its not on their site.

I got an e mail back from Don at Darrel Waltrip Volvo and he says based on the numbers on the wheels the color is Bright Silver and I need Wheel Paint item number 9437615.

Can anyone second this recommendation, do these look light bright silver color?

If you can shed some light on this that would be great!

Starting to get those squeaks from my worn endlinks. Took a look at them and the rubber boots look like poop, except all dried out.

I felt very confident at first about ordering the IPD endlinks as I plan on upgrading the anti-sway bars while I'm at it (BTW if anybody has any advice on me doing the sways please post), but I decided to take a look at what QBM has to offer just to say I "shopped around."

I found that I am somewhat convinced by QBMs marketing. So here's the question:

IPD endlinks or QBM? The beefiness of the QBM seems overkill, but I like the rod ends rather than ball joint.

I would just go with the QBM but the $100 USD difference is enough to make me think twice.

I bought Hawk Performance Quiet Slot™ Brake Rotors as old ones were useless in my 2002 Civic Si. Bog rotor kit bolted on with no problem, everything was straightforward. After installation was complete, I wore in the rotors carefully for a day, then I really hit the brakes. Holy Cow! they stop super fast. They look great in my 17" OZ wheels. There is very noticable improvement over stock, and the ABS still works.I dont plan on ever going back to stock. Someone gave me 4 tires and said they would fit my car, right now i have 225 55 R16's on the car the tires that were given to me are 245 50 R16's can someone tell me if they will fit?

Really like my 96 960 wagon. However, I've had the sway bar links replaced 3 times over the last 50,000 miles and now I'm hearing a similar front end noise again. With each of the previous replacements the noice is gone for the next 10 to 15,000 miles. Is there something else that could be causing the frequent need for replacement?

So.....I seem to have isolated the source of the loud banging in my 99 v70. It comes from a ball joint type thing on the drivers side and in front of the rear wheel. there seems to be a ball and socket type connection where the rubber lining has worn away and now the ball bangs away whenever I run over any uneven surface. It seems as though I need to remove the bracket bolts holding it in place and remove the socket but to be honest I dont know what it's officially called and therefore I dont know how to get one! I cant find images of it online so I cannot identify it to a parts company ....help?

i bought 14" metal volvo wheel trims from a scrap yard a while back and i've never seen them before. I know you can no longer buy these style of trims from volvo dealers. Are they rare? If i sold them on ebay, how much should i expect to get for them? They're stainless steel 14" with a removable centre hub that has the old volvo logo. They have seen better days tho. Hi guys. First time posting here!

I had a question of what kind of wheels these were. They were old wheels taken off my dad's 1997 Volvo 850. According to him they're "BBS RH's" but I couldn't find a trace of these model BBS's online. They were priced at $450 each wheel back in the late 90s when they were bought, but of course they would be worth A LOT less now.

So for my second question! How much would these be worth if i wanted to sell them? They're 17" inch wheels.

Hey everyone, I just got these Centaurus Rims for my 850 Turbo wagon. Let me know what you think. They are 16's. and originally from a v70?

I have a 2000 S40 that I'm putting rims on and I wanted to know if anyone knows if a 18x8 with a +45 offset and a 225/35 fit? More or less I need to know if the rim itself will fit more so then the tires.

This year I've decided to purchase some winter tires (205/55/16) because I had some problem with my all season not doing a great job.

I looked at many options but it is becoming difficult to get a good sense of what is good versus what is available or what is appropriate for the winter condition I'm dealing with.

- I'm typically dealing mostly with some icy condition after occasional frizzing rain
- Occasional hard to stop and slide because the guy at the intersection ahead decided he had enough time to turn right anyway. Once, I found myself on the wrong lane next to a guy like that . I was glad I had the Volvo that day and that I did not hit him and that no car came facing me.
- Lot's of slush after roads have been plowed
- Occasional 1 or 2 inches of snow before roads have been plowed.
- And last but not least my own dam driveway I can't get up to the top because of many inches of snow piled up during the day.

Many winter tires seems to be design very snowy Canada type weather but it is hard to tell what is good for my city type winter driving situation. I think I need something that doesn’t compromise too much dry road safety.

So I think I'm narrowing down on these options in no particular order:

- Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D > Well rated and good average on most aspect. However it has been around for some years so not the latest technology I can only guess.

- Dunlop Graphic D3 > New and I have no idea how good it is

- Bridgestone's Blizzak WS60 > Well rated but noisier, maybe overkill, low thread wear life.

- Michelin's Alpin PA3 > Well rated amongst users but not as much amongst experts.

- Michelin's Primacy PA3 > Don’t know but probably close to the Alpin.

- Michelin's Ice Xi2 > latest technology and top of Consumer Reports but might be overkill, is expensive, and one user had some serious loss of traction in the snow supposedly because salt and slush filled the too narrow thread space making it slippery in the snow.


Does anybody have experience with these? Thanks a all lot in advance… Sorry for the long post

I want to install Bilstein B6 + Eibach Pro Kit on my C70 2006. The car sholud stay lower than now and the suspension should be more hard.
What do you think about this idea? Is it worth? Maybe another propositions?

I have a 2008 XC70 (in addition to a 98 S70) and it's time to get all season replacement tires before winter arrives. Little did I know that the size, 215/65R16 102V would be so difficult to find besides the OEM Continentals which get lousy reviews. I know I can drop down to a H without any problem. I am thinking about the Kumho Road Venture APT KL51. Any suggestions?

Looking to purchase some lowering springs for my 96 850 GLT, and IPD says their springs will lower my car over 1.5 inches. The other companies advertise more like 1.1-1.2 inches. Eventually I hope to have 17" rims on my car as well. My question is this:

Does anybody have IPD springs on their car? If so, do you like them? And has anybody experienced tire rub or anything like that?

Im concerned that the IPD might be a little too low combined with 17" rims.

Heard about a RIDICULOUS price on "Sunny" brand tires; very similar tread to a Dunlop High Performance summer tire, apparently a sister company to Hankook. Anyone have any experience with these tires? I won't put the P-Zero Neros on my S60R, after having them on my C70 and watching the tread disintegrate in no time... So I'm looking for alternatives.

Hi- I have a 2002 xc70 and do a fair amount of off-road (graded gravel) driving in isolated areas. After my last tire change, i'm considering using one of the old tires as a full size spare. Does anyone have any insight on carrying a full-size spare? Are there any aftermarket roof carriers or has anyone attempted a homemade solution?

Hi there. I am driving a 1999 2.0T Volvo. The tyres are directional tyres from Japan. I think they are too noisy and I want to change to Michelin tyres. However, I am not sure whether to go to the 215/55/16 which are currently on the car or the 225/55/16.

The local Michelin dealer says I should try the Michelin MXV 8 tyre but I cannot find any reviews about this particular tyre.

Has anybody got any experiences with these tyres that they would like to share with me before I front up with NZ$1700.00 for a set of four new tyres? Any information/help would be appreciated. Cheers from Auckland.

I have a factory steel 240 rim, with an older tire that has decided to start losing air at the bead.

Anyone have advice on how to get the tire to seat properly again?

Or is this a case of "quit whining, and go buy some new tires, you cheap (person of illegitimate birth)"?

ok so i replaced the front struts on my 850 sedsan nt with sachs oem now its time for the rear. my goal is to get the rear out of the air and have a level stance if you know what i mean, i have 205/15's and want to keep it that way for now. how do you think this will look and any eye candy to browse ? thanks

I have some aftermarket wheels I plan to put on the 850 in the near future. They are 18*8. I may end up lowering it in the near future as well. The main question I have is what size tire can I run safely without rubbing issues? 225/40/18, 215/35/18, 215/40/18? I have had 215/35/18 on another car of mine in the past and would prefer to not have to run that short of a sidewall. Just looking for advice, experiences?

I've not long had my 2001 V70 2.4T and would like to replace the 16" alloys with 17" alloys.
I thought if I decrease the offset by 5mm over the standard offset, it would also solve the inner wheels rubbing issue know to all V70's.
Anyway,...has anyone done this and if so could they post info and pictures.
I like the look of "Team Dynamics Prorace 1.2" which I can get in 17 x 7.5 with 40et. They are also light weight which should help lower the un-sprung weight of the car improving handling etc...

Hello. I have a 2005 XC70 (Sapphire Edition) with 235-60-16 OEM wheels/tires. Can I change the tire size for winter? For example, can I replace my summer tires with 205-55-16 winter tires on OEM steel rims without adverse effects? Specifically, will the different tire dimensions destroy the AWD system, differential, transmission, mess with the speedometer, etc. Thanks.
