Feature my ride Mark forum as read and return

We are looking to change the ranking system used for forum members. Currently forum ranking system is based on posting. The order is:

Newbie 0
Member 25 *
Full Member 50 **
Senior 100 ***
Expert 250 ****
Veteran 500 *****

If you have better idea for forum ranking system, please feel free to post here.

Good morning everybody.

I just saw a 1989 480 ES for sale on our Trademe site. The owner listed:

www.volvo-480-europe.org

in the owner details. I checked this site and noted that they have a VIN reader on their site. I didn't look at it. Membership registration is required. Look at what their membership registration involves:

"Processing this form may take anywhere between a few hours and a few weeks."

If the VIN reader does what I think it does-could we have a VIN reader installed on Volvo Forums?

My last hour was virtually non-productive. I'd been reading posts and tonite noticed a 'click here to register' message displayed across top of page. Ok, might as well. I completed form, I'd say no less than 25 times. The first few questions, as you enter info, a check mark is displayed. BUT..when you get to location, vehicle, last year - no check marks. Ah, 'enter LAST year' - and response was "wrong format." HOW many formats can there be? 2012. 12. '12. Nope, none of those worked. MAYBE it meant what year IS it? 2013. 13. '13. Nope, again. Finally, I thought..maybe, just maybe, admin hasn't yet 'changed' from 2011 to 2012. Bingo! (And...when you clicked on 'click here to register' it did NOT take me to the forum rules...so I'd guess that initially my lack of checking the box that I'd read and agree was also a problem. Thank you might have lost any potential members because they couldn't get registered?

there's some categories that I filled in when I joined -
one specifically, lists the cars I own --
well, I no longer own a Nissan Titan (but now own other vehicles) but I cannot figure out how to edit that category?

Admins -- Please advise.

Is there going to be a forum for the new V40?

I can get to the screen that shows the the box with my choice of "95 850 turbo wagon" but I can't find a way to edit it or add to it ??

I'd like to suggest a new topic in which people can request or offer hands-on help to each other with their Volvos.

Matthew's Volvo Site has one called Help a Neighbor in Your Area (hands-on). I'm not putting down MVS. It is a great site. I just think that not everyone goes to all the sites to work out each issue (probably almost no one), and folks probably have their favourite sites. I think this would augment MVS, not compete with it.

It looks like a great place for beginners to get help, and maybe for experienced folk to share their Volvo love.

I know that if someone would share some expertise with me, I'd love to share some with them!

Hey, I'm trying to find where to change the location setting,
when I hit My Controls, nothing is there to change any of the additional information.

this is what shows up:


I've hit each link for Personal profile and Options, but nothing is in there I can see.
I thought maybe it was in My garage, or wherever I put in my 244 but either it's missing or I don't have a garage.

When I get the email digest of topics, I expect to be able to click the topic I'm interested in.
Instead, I get a general link and have to look for the changes myself.

I entered the wrong model year in "vehicles that you own" when I signed up. I can't find where to edit that in my control panel. What am I missing? Right now over on the left it says 2004 S60... I want it to say 2006.

I would like to have a FAQ post that is pinned/closed in the 240 section, but one that I can edit to add new links. Is there a moderator that can help me with this?

The reason is the same information is repeated over and over again, and I would like to consolidate into one place (post) ...

I've tried to upload pics in a new "For Sale" post within the Market Place but it continues to give me an error prompt stating the image is too large, even though it is only 145kb?? I've uploaded pics on this site many times so I think I'm doing everything correctly...

Hi there folks.

I noticed over the last couple of days Volvo-forums.com seems to have slipped off my search engines radar.

Normally when I access the Volvo forums I type in 'Volvo forums' and a whole host of Volvo related sites come up - including Volvo-forums.com, but over the last couple of days all the others are still showing up but Volvo-forums.com isn't.

I can access Volvo-forum.com by coming in the back door.

I list keywords such as TheGreekMason, Ampangbear etc. and when the search engine locates and lists their various posts, I'm in like Flynn. It is a simple matter then to then backtrack to the particular forum I want to access.

However, I've never been much of a back door type of person so please don't tell me I'm condemned to having to access Volvo-forum.com in this frustrating manner for the rest of my life? I'm not aware of getting up any moderator's nose to the extent they have now decided to tweak the system to make futile any attempt by me to access the site.

So, what has happened?

What's been happening to the system?!?! Over the past 2 weeks, I have been unable to post replies or initiate new ones on the board .. even though I was logged in. The error message says: "Sorry, you do not have permission to reply to that topic." Hmmmm. Moreover, there seemed to be NO easy way to contact an admin for assistance. The system kept forbidding me from that action.

The only reason I can now write this message is that I re-registered under a new username.

Suggestion: have a link to the admins that is outside of the forum for help of this kind.

Figured I would help out but did not see any paid subscriptions avaliable under the control panel. Admittedly I did not search very hard but I was just wondering how to help or sponsor a forum.

i keep getting this message when i look in the member pics section or when you click on a members username to see ther profile.

Just a though that we could relate our experiences at dealerships for others to make informed decisions about where they take their precious wagons for work to be done.

It wont let me create my car......ive tried several times, but it wont let me select the make and model only the year?????

Is it just me or is everybody having problems with accessing the garage feature? I am not sure if it is because I am using a laptop to access the web, am on a roadtrip at the moment, or if it is just my laptop itself. want to try to threaten it with a hammer but figured I would ask first. my sensei, the Haynes Manual, describes replacement of the blower motor on the 850 in about three paragraphs. however, there's no mention of this procedure if the SRS unit is hiding below the trim panel, directly in front where i want to be.

so... do i pull the battery cables, and hope there's not some kind of passive system that'll break my neck? and, if so... where do i find the radio codes on this used vehicle, once the power goes back online?

leave it to me to find a "first project" like this one.

I recently initiated a post inquiring about curb weight for a particular Volvo model. I did this because I found no info resource containing statistics on Volvo models within your website -- or elsewhere!
Is there one? (If so, why isn't it visible in the banner selections above?) If there isn't, please consider this encouragement to begin assembly of such a table of info. Items to be covered could be various data such as is contained in owners' manuals (e.g., horsepower, engine and transmission specs), colors available, interior options, accessories available, gvw, curb weight, range of VINs, production quantities per model/per year.
It would be a very useful service to provide for forum members as well as for the general public, and if no one else is providing it as yet, that would elevate the standing of Volvo-Forum as a pre-eminent resource on historical Volvo models, a true enthusiasts' gathering place.

How can I display topic posts as "last post first" the way forum topics are displayed. Can't find this VERY useful option anywhere?

I've recently been used a "chat" feature on a military forum I'm a member of. Turned out to be highly ammusing, and had me in stitches.
I think one of these features may go down well on this forum. As it'd bring together fellow volvo owners that rarely stray from their own models section of the forum.

the linking on this forum is fantastic but unless I am reading it all wrong if I go to a person's profile to see his glorious Volvo I dont seem to get any link to his/her Garage entries

as seen I have posted my Polaris beack buggy as well as my volvo but the forum only allows volvo or mustang as car type

so I have called Polaris a Mustang to differentiate from my car

IMHO it would be better to leave these fields as user variable

thanks to management for creating a new category for us 6 cylinder freaks in the 2 series, although of course most problems will be shared with the 4 cylinder cars in the 2 series

I had a new transfer box from the main dealer last week. Fitted to car yesterday ,car runs fine for 2-3 miles and then over heats transfer box and gearbox. Plenty of oil in gearbox and of course new transfer box. When examined, red gearbox oil on gearbox seems to have been blown out because of the overheating . Left car for an hour then runs fine for 2-3 miles again. Please can anyone help? Dave.

gearbox v70 awd turbo 2435cc 1997 , is it the same gearbox as T5 please help thanks. :
