Question, I am having a rebuild on my brake booster done and the mechanic says everything look good except he is unsure of the metal band. He is unsure what it odes. Does any one know? I'd like to be able to have this booster repaired. Thanks in advance.

Based on the success of the new-ish XC60 crossover, Volvo will look to move further downmarket with a rival for vehicles like the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.

According to at least one report, the move is part of a larger plan to not only increase the volume of models Volvo produces, but also to expand the range of vehicles offered. The junior crossover, tentatively dubbed the XC30, would help Volvo gain back market share it has lost in Europe over the past few years while at the same time help grow the Swedish brand's appeal with a younger demographic.

It would be based on an AWD version of the current C30 platform and share considerable styling traits with the best-selling XC60.

Expected to hit dealers in Europe by 2013, it should arrive in North America by 2014.

Volvo has just revealed its latest model, the V60 wagon, sporting the Swedish brand's progressive new design. The new style of Volvo first appeared on the XC60 crossover and then on the S60 sedan. This is, however, the first time we've had the opportunity to see just how the swoopy sheetmetal looks on the company's beyond-boxy wagons. And we have to admit, it looks good!

For engine options, there's a tremendously long list with at least eight different powerplants being offered in the first year (with some replacing others throughout the first-year of the car's production cycle). Of note is a new 2.0T GTDi (Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection) engine that makes 203-hp and 221 ft-lbs of torque. Then later this year, shoppers will be able to chose a more powerful version with 240-hp and 236 ft-lbs of torque.

The top engine option is the T6, with a turbocharged six-cylinder that makes 304-hp and 324 ft-lbs of torque, enabling a 0-60 mph time of 6.6 seconds. These two turbocharged powerplants are the most likely options should Volvo decide to bring the V60 to North America. Currently Volvo is only talking about the new V60 for the European market, but with the brand recently announcing that it would drop the V70 wagon from its lineup, perhaps there's room for the V60 now. Then again, maybe the XC60 is taking over.

Were they ever sold in America or just Europe?

anyway i fancy putting a 16v turbo motor in one. looks an easy mod and the car would go well with all that power. a real stealth machine!

gearbox is in the back of these cars so im wondering where i could go in terms of gearbox mods for reliability.

Anyone care to share there views? has anyone got a modified 300 series cosworth asskicker already?

Just curious if anyone here in the US happens to have or know of anyone looking to sell an older Volvo C303 or C304?

Since they almost all apparently had to be brought over here one by one (I dont think they were ever sold here when they were new), I have had a hard time locating any, much less finding out what they go for here.

As of right now, I am mainly just doing some looking, not really up to buying one right now, but I am looking to see if any are around for sale (condition not really important). I am interested in basically any version of these models, although I am not looking to find one for sale that would have to be shipped to the US, I;m simply looking for one already here and to see what one would expect to have to pay for one here.

I wonder if any of you can help me. There is this strange brake reduction valve in Volvo 140s, P 1800 and later Amazon 120, situated in front of the rear axle. The local Volvo dealer here doesn't know it, the Swedish pros at KG Trimning can't find it anywhere, and a Google search ain't giving no results. Do any of you know where to find one, or know of a Volvo part dealer who sells on the Internet, and might have one for sale?

I have narrowed my starting issues down to fuel.The car was running great then one day it started up them immediately shut down and would not restart.It's been hit or miss.If I waited 5-10 minutes it would usually start back up and run for a couple days then die again.It died while I was driving it,no warning, all of a sudden all the dash lights came and we coasted to a stop.Started up 1/2 hour later like nothing happened.I'm not sure exactly how the fuel system works or what parts are involved and in which order they come into play.Is there basic tests to see if it's electrical(a relay) or the fuel pump (without removing the pump)..lol
Or maybe some place online that I can find a schematic or manual for the 780 V-6 fuel system.Thanks much.

hi i have purchased these two cars and was going to make a good one out of the two but i have to many projects going at the moment and this one drew the short straw.
i have them up for sale but dont really know what there worth one is a sports model with sunroof and the other is just the normal model. the red one just needs a cut and polish which i can do.

can anyone tell me wether these are hard to come by.

Volvo will strive to be the first to market with a diesel plug-in hybrid, debuting a near production ready V60 wagon at the Geneva Auto Show in March. The V6 Plug-in Hybrid will get a claimed 1.9 l/100 km says Volvo, which translates to an incredible 124-mpg.

Combining a 5-cylinder turbodiesel with 215-hp and 325 lb ft of torque with an electric motor, the gas engine will power the front wheels while the car will also include Volvo's new ERAD (Electric Rear Axle Drive), to enable AWD with a 70-hp motor powering the rear wheels. A lithium-ion battery pack will be used to store energy and the car will use a 6-speed automatic transmission. In addition, it will be able to travel 50 km (31 miles) on pure electric power.

"This second-generation hybrid is the perfect choice for the uncompromising buyer who wants a superbly carbon dioxide-lean car packed with driving pleasure," says Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Cars. "In order to get true car enthusiasts to think green, you have to offer them the opportunity to drive with low carbon dioxide emissions without taking away the adrenaline rush that promotes genuine driving pleasure. The V60 Plug-in Hybrid has all the traditional properties of a genuine sports wagon. What we've done is to spice it up with spearhead technology."

I am looking for one to convert my 81 delorean from k-jet to carb, anyone have any idea on where i can get my hands on one of these? is it even true these came on 260s? anyone happen to have a list of what model volvo and year the prv's came carb'ed?

I have a volvo 780 and the air conditioning climate control unit is no longer able to open the vents into the cabin. I tried switching out the climate control unit, but I get the same results, so I know the issue is somewhere between the climate control unit and the actual vents. I've been told that the car has solenoids that open and close the events. On my old 780, the same thing happened and I was able to reach under the dashboard and put a piece of metal that held open the events (that was the 780 4 cylinder turbo model). In my 6 cylinder, I haven't been able to do the same thing and can't remember where I found the main valve to the vents. Does any one know where the main valve that opens the vents is? Or does anyone know where I can get diagrams that show how the vents are structured behind and under the dashboard?

With ownership of Volvo now having officially changed hands from Ford to Geely, the Swedish automaker will look to develop a plan for profitability and growth. And while it's domestic rival Saab is looking down market, Volvo will reportedly head in the opposite direction, instead planning a new flagship model that would compete directly with the likes of the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S-Class.

At a press conference following Geely's takeover of Volvo, company boss Li Shufu actually said as much, stating that he wants Volvo to make "high level cars that compete with the Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7-series". Shufu also said that Volvo has the technology and resources to make this plan a reality.

Not only would a model in this range command higher prices, but it would also create higher profit margins. But without sharing a platform with another model the expensive R&D involved could make seeing a profit with a flagship Volvo difficult. That is, unless Volvo can manage to sell a significant number of the cars. And while high sales volumes have never been part of Volvo in the past, it's ownership by the Chinese (now the world's largest auto market) could change that.

I have a full set of Smiths gauges (7 of them) out of a 1970 volvo p1800S. Looking for about $300 OBO for the set; individual prices vary. PM me if you're interested/have an offer. Pretty sure all are working, will test all of them just for you if you make a good offer. Faces are beautiful, glass is cleaned and bezels are black and in fair condition. I am aware the clocks are notorious for being fried, so if someone can tell me a safe way to test it, I will. mounts/bolts included. Questions are welcome, better pictures provided on request. Volvo is following a trend by European automakers to bring their products further down market, with plans to introduce a new compact crossover based on the C30 hatchback. Likely to be called the XC30, this would be the fourth SUV/Crossover in the company's lineup and slot in underneath the new XC60 model.

According to a report by CarsGuide, Volvo's man in charge of corporate strategy, Lex Kerssemakers, commented that an expansion of the XC line was in order considering the core of Volvo's business lies in the V and XC models. Kerssemakers then went on to say that with the proliferation of larger crossovers within the brand, the logical step would be to look down-market. Downsizing for Volvo is likely to stop there, however, says Kerssemakers, with no plans to take on the city car market with a competitor to Audi's new A1.

The new XC30 model would compete with BMW's upcoming X1 model and the rumored Audi Q3. It's also likely that when the next generation of C30 models debuts, Volvo will offer a five-door version as well as the current 3-door. Volvo chose to go with a three-door because of the style, but now admits that with the five-door portion of the hatchback marketing being the largest area, the Swedish automaker will look to compete more readily by expanding its C30 product offerings.

I have a 1982 GLT volvo. The Hot/Cold gage rises very quickly to Hot a short time after the car has started, mostly in summer. The only way that I can get the gage to lower to Cold is to turn the heat on full blast inside the car then it slowly lowers to Cold again. The problem is that I roast inside the car

. Does anyone know what could be the problem and solution and why if I turn the heat on inside the car the car cools?

Hello. I am in Southern California and am selling a 1990 Volvo 790 turbo. The interior and exterior are in fabulous shape since the car has not been driven and has been in the garage. The engine needs to be replaced. I believe the car still works but my mother said that my dad blew up the engine so I am not certain.

Any advise on how much I should charge for this would be greatly appreciated!!

I think I know the answer to this but I will ask anyway...I have owned a 1967 122 sedan for 23 years of which the car has been in storage for 18. It is in excellent condition and has only 107,000 miles and was purchased from the original owner. The vehicle is in Oregon but I live in Alaska. I am finally at a point to bring it to Alaska. It will need some work to make the trip but I don't anticipate anything major. I am pondering the purchase of a small trailer to pull behind the car. At this time it does not have a trailer hitch. The trailer I intend to pull will weigh approximately #1500. Am I crazy to attempt this? Does anybody know the tow rating capacity of the 122? I imagine a hitch will have to be custom but I am not even sure where it would mount? I realize it could be a real desecration to the car. Am I crazy? I live on Long Island, New York and I have recently come across a VERY CLEAN 1972 P1800 ES (wagon). It hasn't been registered in 7 years (8 years since inspection) and has 38k on the odometer. The undercarriage/floorpan is in GREAT condition. Only one small section of rust (I paid a local shop to put it on the lift for me).

Honestly, it has been about 16-20 years since I had my last P1800s and I have no idea what they sell for nowdays. This car has some IPD parts (header/exhaust, fuel mixture adjustment, Aluminun Valve cover, sway bars, etc...) so it isn't exactly original, but it is complete. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

hi Guys, I recently purchased a 04 xc90 t6 with the overhead dealer installed dvd player ..i love the car however...the player rattles when you hit bumps in the road,(very annoying from a otherwise solid suv)have taken to dealership 3 times and it has been replaced however within a couple days it rattles again..anyone else have this problem? Hello - could anybody help me by telling me the details on my 1991 340DL Volvo 1.4 Renault engine. I tried to get a timing tensioner from a Renault main dealer but they need to know what model type etc, since they are computerised and only can sourse this way. PS volvo's part number is 3104452 @ £34, way over the top i think

My little 122 had generator and voltage regulator replaced in January '05 (before I bought it), and since I have had it, has had battery discharging, and not re-charging. On the 18th, we jumped and had mechanic test-- battery good, but problems with the charging system. He checked connections, found some corrosion, cleaned, and we seemed to be good. Car sat for a week-- fired right up tonight--and then, as we drove it, the lights got dimmer, and it appeared charge was diminishing, and it would start imtermitently. Can it be faulty parts-- or connections..or what do you think?

I will take it back down on Monday...but would like to be armed with some knowledge..

Hello from the connman. I am thinking of purchasing a C60 AWD, trading in our Jeep Liberty. I am really let down by our Jeep, having Jeeps for 20+ years. My big question is how is this C60 in foot deep snow? In Wisconsin we get some good snow storms and wondering how they go thru such snowfalls. Looking forward to joining such an elite group. Other cars in my garage are a 2005 VW Golf TDI and a 2001 BMW X5 3.0.

I´m a new member interested in the classical Puppy (Laplander, Valpen) L3314-series (903B) I haw a pickup-model from 1966:the milage is only 36.000 km.I keep it in my summerhouse in Finland and use it as a motorized wheel-barrow and try to keep it in good original shape. I have lots of users manuals and a very useful spareparts catalogue, so if you have questions or want to discuss this lovely car with me I´ll be happy.
My english and finnish are poor but I try my best. Swedish is my best language.

I recently bought a S80 2000 model lovely car, has been going well, I was interested to know if anyone could give me a detailed expalnation of how to remove the headlights for cleaning the insides, I plan to do it myself , the local volvo mechanic said the front bumber of the car needs to be taken off, how difficult is this ? where is it held on?
I recently did the same thing on my BMW 320 but that was quite simple,they now look like new again
Any help would be appreciated
