I own a 2002 volvo S60 AWD and I'm having alot of troubles with it. I'm hesitating to buy a 06/07 XC90 AWD and spending that much money to have the same troubles. Any recommendations on the 06/07 XC90's?

I'm a new member here and just bought an xc90 with rti on it.Unfortunately i don't have the DVDs since the previous owner said "he didn't have them"!!!I asked Volvo dealers and said it costs about 300euros to buy them.
I live in Greece.I was wondering if anyone here has any DVDs(or copies of them) he doesn't use and is willing to give away or maybe knows where i can download them for free.(Illegal,i know, but 300euros?????)

Just an update....the dealer is replacing under warranty, my cloudy chrome window window surrounds on my 2004. This may help anyone else that has this issue.

Looking for some assistance / recommendations:

I'm installing a two-way radio in my 2007 Volvo XC90. Plan on mounting the radio body in the rear of the vehicle most likely in the area under the rear deck.

I need to run microphone, control and speaker wires up to the driver / front passenger compartment and there is no easy / obvious way to do this.

Anyone have knowledge of how to accomplish this? (I assume there are existing cable paths that I may be able to snake additional wiring along.)

Delivery program offered by Volvo. We're from Michigan/USA. Has anyone here gone thru this program?
We have been Toyota 4Runner owners for years, but the new XC90 certainly fits our needs nicely.(Although it seems Volvo still has a few bugs to work out).

I have installed a Witter towbar to my 2004 XC90, but the wiring loom has a plug-in connection, but I cannot see where it needs to plug in - the instructions are rubbish !! If anyone can help, that would be great.

Hi everyone. Just picked up a new 07 XC90 3.2 and excited to be here. Quick question for the board about the retractable cargo compartment shade. My vehicle didn't come with one, and dealer has advised that it is a separate accessory that I will need to purchase.

Before paying close to $200 for this shade on a short term 24 month lease, I wanted to get some thoughts from folks who have used it. I frequently park on city streets and feel that I need the shade for privacy so the car doesn't get broken into. However, I frequently fold up the 3rd room seats for passenger use. From speaking to one dealer, I'm told that the cargo shade can't be used when the 3rd row seats are in use, and worse yet, the shade can't be stored away in the vehicle cargo area with the 3rd row seats folded up.

Can anyone confirm this? I don't have a garage that I can keep the shade in when not in use so it's a consideration whether I should get one or not. With a short lease like mine, I'm tempted to just improvise and toss an ugly beach towel over my belongings in the cargo area for those times when I have something valuable looking back there.

I'd appreciate any thoughts from board members. Many thanks in advance.

This may seem trivial but does anyone else have trouble with the cover on the console cup holder not releasing when it is pressed correctly to open?

My cigarette lighter/ 12v outlet on the front dashboard no longer works after my son shorted the circuit whilst playing in the car (brilliant :$!). i need to replace the fuse but my volvo manual does not say where i will locate the fuse and as there is a choice of 4 fuse boards i don't know where to start looking. Can anyone help? it's a 2005 D5 if that helps.

I currently have a XC90 with the Power-Adjustable Heated Exterior Rearview Mirrors with Memory Function, however I do not have the the button in my consol that allows them to fold in. What is needed to add this to my car? Do i need to buy entirley new mirrors, or just had the controller unit and wire it up? Does anyone know if the part numbers for the two mirrors are diffrent or the same? Because if they are the same, Im guessing that all one would need to do is buy the controller and wire it up. Any info on this would be great thanks!

I am looking at purchasing a 05 XC90 w/Prem. Trouing , convienece ,versitility and climate pachages, 27K in excellent shape with the light beige interior. What I did notice was the "flaking" of the front seat were you slide you butt across to sit down. It looked like the leathere treatment was actually flaking off and you could see it. My question is this.......is this something that is covered under the warrenty to be replaced or considered normal wear and tear? Also I getting it for $33,995 which appears to be right there for the market in my area (WA) but a little high compared to the "right" coast. thanks

I have recent purchased a used 2006 model XC90 and the dealer fitted (free of charge) a Volvo detachable towbar system with a 13 pin euro connector (complete with 7 N&S adapter lead), however I have noticed that although the lights works fine, I can not get the fridge in my caravan to work whilst connected to the cars 12v system.

The dealer claims that the tow bar is wired up correctly and it must be the caravan, so I have checked the caravan with my old Honda CRV and using the twin electrics on the CRV the caravan fridge works fine on 12v

So has anyone else had this problem with a Volvo fitted tow bar, and if so how did you overcome it?

I'm looking for a recommendation for a hitch installer located in central NJ. I went to U-Haul first, but they couldn't figure out how to get the hitch installed on a 2005 XC90. After reading about this topic on several forums, I now know why....
Does someone know of a place that will install a Hidden Hitch or Draw Tite hitch. I'm located in centeral NJ.

Hello Everyone. I'm new to the Forum & new to Volvo. Just bought my wife a new XC90 last night & the sticker says it's "Sirrius Ready". Can someone tell me where in the vechicle the "factory" installed unit would go? Also where I could purchase this unit. I'm looking to do the install myself.

I have a 2004 XC90 T6 that makes a grinding noise from the engine after lifting off of the gas while driving. Has anyone experienced this and what is causing it?

The noise appears near idle - around 1200 rpm as the engine decelerates.

Not present when parked and engine running.

It is also not speed related.

I just had the steering wheel janked and greased by Volvo and I think they may have knocked a hose loose.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know who the OEM is for the 2004 XC90 Turbo with the 6 disk CD Changer? I have been told that it is Clarion, but I want to be sure...

I am thinking about installing a Clarion Nav system (back up camera, USB stereo DVD, etc), and I would like to keep the XC90 Steering Wheel controls and the rear audio controls. Does any one know if that is possible? The dealer said that they would have to replace my factory stereo with the new nav unit.

I am new to this board, my 2005 XC90 AWD Perelli tires wore at approximately 20,000 miles, I was then advised by our local Volvo dealership to purchase high end Michelin tires, the vehicle now has 30,000 miles and it will be coming off lease in 3 weeks, I am considering the purchase although the residual is very high for this vehicle so I may turn it back. I plan to switch out the tires to my other volvo and would like to know if there are various sizes and makes I can put on that would be less expensive. Please advise. Sincere thanks.

Hi. New to this forum. I actually don't own an XC90, but am investigating buying one. I will be buying used and am open to the model year. Could someone fill me in on the significant differences/changes in the evolution of the XC90 from '03 to present. I am particularly interested in safety features (i.e., if there is a particular year when some certain air bag or such was added)? Also, what is the tow capacity for the various engine variations? I have a couple of boats, so towing is a consideration. Trying to narrow my search. Thanks much in advance.

Hi folks, I'm working on a 2005 XC90 with a fork mounted bike rack. I was wondering if anyone has had any trouble fitting the rear tire into that little strap in order to secure the rear tire to the rack? Thanks

Hi everyone -

Been driving my XC 90 for almost three years now. Aside from problems with the steering and tire wear in the front - and all the water that collects in between the doors and the body during heavy rains and pours out on your feet and onto the carpet in the driver side....I love it.

However - both headlights lenses on the vehicle are crazed (spider web-like cracking) - identically! And, it's getting worse. The crazing also appears on the side of the lens.

My dealer is telling me "it must be from rocks". Oh boy.

Anyone else have experience with this??

I recently installed a factory trailer module and wiring harness and Hidden Hitch trailer hitch in my 2007 XC90. The installation was easy, but I've got a problem with the the trailer lights (brake, turn signals) when I plug in the trailer's wiring harness. The trailer lights are all on when the trailer harness is plugged in, and when I depress the brake pedal or turn on turn signals, the lights get only slightly brighter. I tested the receptacle contacts, and I'm getting about 12.4V on all pins. When the brake is applied or turn signals on, the appropriate pins have about 13.6V. Any idea why and how I can fix this??

I have a 2005 XC90 T6, love it, but after having it for less than 1 week, the Check Engine Light came on at about 700 miles. Took it to the dealer the first time and he ran a diagnostic and said he could find nothing wrong, and turned off the light. Later that day, the light came back on again and so we took it back to the same dealer. He said this time that the diagnosic software was pointing to a 'leak' in the fuel line but that this is a known bug in this model. He again turned it off and later that night the light came on again. That was a week ago and its been on ever since. Its not the fuel cap as I tighten it as far as it will go. The dealer said that he will have more infomation this week but I have not called him back yet. Has anyone else experienced this?

Has anyone had trouble with their 6 CD Changer? We just had to replace ours for $450+ at the Volvo dealership. Seems that they have a lot of issues with the changer, and have had little luck repairing them, so they said they needed to replace with a new one. Wonder if anyone has had issues and if anyone knows if there has been any recall efforts for this issue...

Car toys told me there was no way to make this work, has anyone had any success getting Sirius to work in their volvo?

I have purchased this car 53 plate 3 days ago and have not yet been able to work the DVD player. I have located one onder the front passanger seat but as I also need to work the Sat Nav at the same time. There is no signal message on the screens on the rear of the seats. Am I missing something is there another unit hidden. Please help. My dealer has been very difficult so I can't go back and ask (long story).

A few says ago, my XC90 started making more noise. As I reach 20 mph and on up, there is extra noise that increase as I go faster. The car has always seemed very quiet, so this is very noticeable. I thought it may have been a hole in the exhaust - its that kind of noise. However, the noise is only related to the speed of the car. Putting the car in neutral at speed has no effect. revving the car in neutral has no effect.

any ideas? Is this the bearing problem I have heard about?

There are two things I would like to ask. Would you help me on those?

1. Trip ordermeter

I noticed that trip ordermeter mileage is greater than normal ordermeter mileage.
'200 miles vs 197 miles'
How can this be possible?

2. Seat belt reminder

Seat belt warning sign in the front panel make me confused.

The following description is from the manual.

'Seat belt reminder

The seat belt reminder consists of an audible signal, an indicator light above the rearview mirror, and a symbol in the instrument panel that alert the driver and front seat passenger if their seat belts are not fastened.'

But seat belt warning light just went off after 4 beeps even thou I did not fastened a seat belt when I start the car.
So I tested it while driving; I unbuckled the belt and look at the panel but reminder did not show up.

I had a japanese car which kept bugging me until I fastened the belt and showed the seat belt warning sign whenever I unfastened it.

Just purchased my first Volvo last week. I am very pleased with the purchase.

I have a 2007 Volvo XC 90 3.2 and would like to purchase the following accessories for my vehicle:

Luggage Compartment Mat Molded Plastic
Cargo Security Cover
Running Boards
Rubber Floor Mats (Set of 4)
Third Row Rubber Mats (Set of 2)

As I was surfing the net, some online retailers listed 3 interior color of mats for this vehicle, (Oak c080 or c981), (Mocca Brown Cx1x), and the (Graphite C070, C970).

My XC90 is equipped with Sandstone Beige leather (C910), but could not find the exact color code to match above mat's color code, which color should I go for to best match my Sandstone Beige Leather interior?

Also I need your expert advice on the accessories I plan to add to my XC90, are they worth to install or just waste of money?

One more question, does anyone purchase accessory/parts from Boston Volvo Village (http://parts.bostonvolvo.com/home.php) or http://vparts.autowebaccessories.com/ or http://www.myswedishparts.com/ before? How are their service and your experience?

I have a 2005 T6AWD XC90. Great SUV, but question regarding CD text feature. It displays radio text broadcast from the stations just fine, but I have tried 15-20 different CDs (some new, some very old) and not one has displayed the text as indicated in the manual. I have made sure that the "disc text" feature is checked under the menu settings. Does anyone have any suggestions or having a similar problem? Thanks.

Is $25,900 a good deal for a 2004 Volvo XC90 T6? It has navigation, rear drop down dvd player, rear parking sensors, 3rd row, heated seats, with 38,000. I guess it has the versatility package, premium package, and climate package.

It seems like a good deal to me, not sure if i need all the bells and whistles but they should help resale if it ever comes to that.

I am worried about the transmission problem that I hear about the 4 speed. I have a little less than a year or 12k miles left on the factory warranty. Do you guys suggest an extended warranty for this car? I'm usually against them but it seems like it is just a matter of time before this transmission goes out.

One of the 3rd row headrests that it supposed to fold down automatically stopped working. I tried taking the seat back apart, but it looked pretty complicated.

Took it to the dealer and they quoted over $400 just for the part alone, plus about 2-3 hours labor. However, they claim they had to order parts. That was over a week and a half ago.

Today I decided to tackle the problem. I figured I couldn't break it any worse, since it was already broken.

Took the seat back off. It's actually pretty easy. Two t-25 torx screws on the bottom, then lift up. The it is a matter of removing the leather and padding, which is easy. After a couple of hours trying to figure out the problem, it came to me. There is a cable that, when you drop the seat forward, tenses, and releases a locking mechanism. The cable was disconnected from the mechanism. However, the connector that was obviously supposed to be there was gone (probably was what was broken and removed by the dealer when they took the seat apart.) I fabricated a connector, and the seat worked...sort of. It would release alright, but would not stay up.

Took awhile longer to figure out that the cable is crimped, so, when tensed, it released the lock. But it does not slacken as it supposed to when you put the seat up. So, in the meantime, you need to push up the slacked cable with your finger (until I think of a better solution. this only takes 1 second) Obviously, the best solution would be to get a new cable, but I think the entire cable, locking mechanism, ,and headrest is sold as a one piece unit, which would explain the $400 price, and I'm not paying that much (actually more, if the dealer installed it,) for a tweaked cable.

If anyone else is having this problem, p-mail me if you want me to walk you through the procedure.

I just purchased a XC90 and have a very loud whistling wind noise from my load bars. As soon as I start driving the whistling noise starts up. Highway driving is annoying. Whistling is very loud. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I'd like to get her a navigation system for the holidays, and was wondering if any of you guys, and gals had put in an aftermarket system in your xc90's... I'm not sure if one is a better fit for this vehicle than another.. Any insight would be greatly appreciated...
As a side not, we absolutely love the vehicle in general, everything we could ask for in a truck with 3rd bench, except the rediculous size... The others we drove were simply to big, (Tahoe, Sequoia, and so on).

I recently purchased a 2007 Xc90. It had a problem and the dealer installed a new Navigation unit under the drivers seat. Unfortunately, the wires were not well secured and an orange fiberoptic cable was crushed. It is now blinking red. My dynaudio stereo, Navigation and rear park assist do not function. A replacement cable was ordered. Does anyone know whether just one cable can be replaced or does the entire car need to be rewired? If so, does this entail taking out all the seats as well as the carpet and moldings? Help

I have a 10 day old D5 and the drivers side rear door lock does not engage at all when you close the door. This only occurs when the child locks are disabled. When you close the door under these circumstances it just swings open again.
What I have noticed is that when you pull on the outside door handle and let it go it takes some time for the handle to spring back into its original position. All other door handles pop back into their original position immediately after you let them go. When I push the handle back into place the lock begins to function again with the child locks disabled. However it does not work all the time
