Year / Make / Model 1991 Volvo 240
Color Blue/green
Mileage / Units 200,500 Miles
0-60 Time You're kidding, right?
1/4 Mile Time Oh, please.
Description B230 engine in a DL wagon w/ tan vinyl upholstery. Ordered the 5-sp manual, third-row seat and a volt gauge. Wife didn't care for white or red (or any other color not optional) so had to pay $300 extra for the blue/green paint. Flew to Gothenburg for factory delivery (highly recommend that). The paint still looks great.
After getting home, looked the car over and found various parts from around the world: a/c compressor made in Japan, lights made in France, Bosch stuff all from Germany, cigarette lighter from USA. Threw away the lighter (nobody will smoke in my new car) and replaced it with a Mosel wine cork -- still there. Ten-year-old, car-sick son threw-up on dash within first 2 months of ownership. So much for that wonderful new car smell.
Unexpected replacements: water pump at 31K, mass air flow sensor at 60k, 5th gear disintegrated at 104k (found a good '90 transmission), engine overhaul at 149k (pistons shot/block still perfect), fuel pump at 178k and radiator at 194k. Pretty much hit bottom on depreciation at this point. Looking forward to another 200k of brick-like driving.
